Yikes, tough question!
The first that comes to mind, from John Keats' "Endymion:" A thing of beauty is a joy forever.

To the person below me: I liked Scher's question: how would you complete the sentence 'I wish . . .'?

Scheherazade

aubergine

What is your least favorite vegetable?

Bandini
04-16-2005, 01:19 PM
Aubergines are in my top veggies! Lovely coated in seasoned flour and shallow fried in olive oil! MMM!

My least favourite is probably asparagus.

How do I start a new thread? I thought it would be good to get a game going. Here are the rules:
Take five books at random from your shelf. Then construct a paragraph from the following:

Book #1 -- first sentence,
Book #2 -- last sentence on page fifty,
Book #3 -- second sentence on page one hundred,
Book #4 -- next to the last sentence on page one hundred fifty,
Book #5 -- final sentence of the book.

So my question is, how do I start a new thread?

Bongitybongbong
04-16-2005, 03:28 PM
Wow I thought I would have a hard question. Go to where ever you want the thred to be click on the icon "new thread". then make a title above the message and right the message. click submit and you're done.

Question: Do you have good pizza shops around where you reside?

amuse
04-16-2005, 03:52 PM
yes, yes, and yes! Pizzicato (http://www.ritzfilmbill.com/dinner/philadelphia/pizzicato.html) at at 3rd and Market (248 Market to be exact); their food is 100% to die for! the pizzas, the salads, the service, the decor, oh my goodness this is it. (Olde City Philly, btw.)

would you pick flowers for the one you love?

Bongitybongbong

yes, yes, and yes! Pizzicato (http://www.ritzfilmbill.com/dinner/philadelphia/pizzicato.html) at at 3rd and Market (248 Market to be exact)
How strange that there exists a Pizzicato near the corner of 3rd and Market in my downtown city.

Hmm, where do I keep my confidence - nowhere tangible, surely, but residing somewhere in the will.

To the person below me: where do you go, and what do you do, usually, during your spare time?

Basil
04-16-2005, 05:24 PM
In my spare time you can always find me poisoning pigeons in the park.

Did you have a lunchbox growing up?

Miranda
04-16-2005, 06:05 PM
Yes, I did have a lunch box growing up but unfortunately I forgot to water it and it died, although this could also have been through lack of weeding as I am not the most expert of gardeners.

Where is your favourite park and what do you like best about it?

Miranda

When was the last time you laughed heartily? (and at what if you don't mind sharing?)

mono
04-16-2005, 09:34 PM
Last night I laughed so hard. Psyche, while at her apartment, feeling very cold, as, for some reason, the weather has seemed abnormally rainy and very cold, as a hint for me to retrieve her a blanket or robe, she rhythmically kept saying "burr-burr-de-burr-burr-burr-de-burr."

To the person below me: same question.

To the person below me: how fast do you type, or how fast do you think you type? Really fast? Neither fast, nor slow? Really slow?

ajoe
04-17-2005, 12:53 PM
I can type up to 90 wpm if I concentrate really hard and feel really determined (e.g. at an actual typing test, which I do take occasionally), but most of the time I'm probably typing 80-85 wpm.

Are you more fanatical about which: spotting grammer error or mispelling? ;D

Bongitybongbong
04-17-2005, 02:11 PM
mispelling because grammatical mistakes vary through languages and I'm too stupid.

imthefoolonthehill
04-17-2005, 04:49 PM

Bandini
04-19-2005, 01:44 PM
At the moment it's this quick but tasty t'ing I discovered by chucking loads of stuff together: roast loads of Aubergines and cherry tomatoes in olive oil and rosemary (until they're well cooked - at about 200 C. Meanwhile fry up some chicken goujons and garlic in olive oil. Meanwhile cook some pasta. Add the cooked chicken to the vegetables, then stir in a tin of cream of mushroom soup (trust me!). Meanwhile stir in loads of Parmesan into the pasta. Mix it all up together (hope you used a big dish - I use a big oval Pyrex one), grate some cheddar cheese on top and return to oven on full heat, until brown.

clip on tie or tie tie?

Bandini
04-19-2005, 04:05 PM
Pur-lease! Clip ons are for *****[CENSORED]*****

Had to edit the above. I didn't use a perjorative term, and .... and, who are clip on ties for?

What are learning difficulties anyway? If you're on this site and consider yourself to have 'Learning difficulties'; then you are a victim of 'over labelling' and over use of bio-medical/pathologisation - in my opinion. We're all different; I have found many people with 'learning difficulties' to be interesting, humorous people with a lot to give (and there, you've made ME sound patronising now!)

Doesn't making a (non-perjorative - I did not use an offensive word)term 'taboo' mean that you help to make that social group taboo? I'm a very liberal sort of a guy, but do worry about that 'politically correct/stifling of ideas' borderline. That said, I am not keen on perjorative terms for those who are not the 'norm'.

Oh, your probably right - but doesn't it all get terribly po faced and a bit of a minefield?

Perhaps I am wrong. I like to learn. Please enter into debate.

The kind covering raisins is scrumptious.

So maybe I do like yogurt.

We climbed Half-Dome and Nevada and Vernal Falls, I ate his concocted camping "pizza" made out of tomato paste, string cheese and wheat bread slices, and he decided to climb a tree one night only to be trapped up there by a bear who picked up apples and started throwing them at him! Great fun. :D

i've done a lot of risky things. here are a few:
took a bath with a radio that decided to fall into the tub with me - it unplugged itself on the way down, thank you very much.
took a 'short cut' when hiking down yosemite falls only to find out i was inches away from the precipice and there was no trail left, just stakes that someone had hammered into the granite. couldn't go up, had to crawl backwards and sideways on my hands and knees.
visited someone clandestinely and took a train back at 5 a.m. to get back to the station, i had to walk two miles on the shoulder of a 4-lane highway in the dark, with big-rigs swooshing past me going 45 mph or so.

There were apples all over the ground, and the bear just picked them up and started chucking them at my dad. (In retrospect, why [b]didn't[/b[ the bear play with me?)

Hot,hot, hot! Caliente', caliente', caliente'!! Desert conditions, with a fresh water source (a clean lake, river). Why hot? I once lived for 3.5 years in a place where minus 45-55 degrees CELCIUS was the rule, not the exception, during long periods in the winters. This environment fundamentally changed me. I live in a desert like valley, where the sun is a major attraction, held in reverence. Cold is bad. Hot is good. I remember, as a child in elementary school, I loved many of the creepy books by R.L. Stine; I had, in fact, read almost all of the author's books by age 10. For a class project, each of us had to pick out a fiction book of our choice, and since I had read so many of the Stine books in the school library, I asked my dad for some money so I could purchase one at the bookstore; there, I found one I had never read called Double Date. Feeling so excited, I never hesitated in purchasing it. Needless to say, concerning my age (perhaps 8 or 9 at the time), the bookstore saleswoman gave me a strange look and smirk, judging the title of the book, and several other classmates at school laughed when they discovered the book I read. I enjoyed it in my odd childish humor, regardless.

"Tiny Dancer" by Elton John. During a meeting with one of my instructors, someone listened to this song on the stereo nearby, and, instead of listening more intently on my instructor's words, I found myself humming along with the tune. :D

I could never act well, even if it depended on my life. If I directed or wrote a movie, however, I think I would enjoy working with, one of my favorite actors, Anthony Hopkins.

French. I already speak a little French so I would like to improve. I think it sounds beautiful. And the idea of speaking a fourth language is very tempting.
