What's your favourite sin?

uh how it's called...gluttony??? the one where you eat a lot!!! :( (i actually suffer from all the deadly sins...except one, just because I can't, not because I don't want to...and I stop it here :D:D:D)

it's the first time I play this game... let me think of a clever question....

Do you have your ears pierced? :D

amuse, im asking....
if it makes you feel better, i pierced my own nose (the first time; the second, i got it professionally done. why does it need to be done twice, you ask? because i did it myself the first time, duh!)

As far as random acts of kindness....i put money in the parking meter for someone a couple of days ago, when the parking attendant was about three cars away, writing tickets like a fiend. does that count??

when was the last time someone gave you a gift for no occasion?

i pierced my tum because it eventually hurt so much i figured may as well finish. it closed up and i got it redone. well that didn't take. a third try, at a very very reputable place - they pierced my honey's tongue (his second time - notice a trend ?:D) and they refused to repierce me. turns out my navel's uniform all around (that sounds so funny :D), and if one doesn't have a sort of overhang at the top, body jewelry can't really breathe.

:) my girlfriends and i were playing with makeup (i never have done that before, believe it or not) and i was given blush to take home. i am a little frightened of it, but it was so sweet, and i dust with it once in a while and remember the fun, silly night we had together.
yes, the money in the meter definitely counts. what a sweetheart!

Haha be careful who you ask on this forum, Blade. Never know what answer you'll get, and then Admin will come marching in here.
Personally, there's this little tiny train for kids to ride at the Worcester Science Museum that goes all over the grounds, and it's pretty weird-***. At Halloween they convert it into a haunted train ride with people popping out in masks to scare you, but they're bad so it feels more like "Night of the Iguana", and you're riding this colorful little kiddy ride through it all, which is pretty surreal.

I haven't seen most of my friends since graduation, but I really wonder what happened to Cliff. He and two other friends used to have this amazing band that we'd all go see at the coffee house every Thursday night for a year and a half. He went to college early and I haven't seen him since the middle of 11th grade.

What is the biggest regret in your life?

Isagel
04-15-2004, 07:42 AM
My cottage!

It´s traditional swedish - red with white woodwork on the corners and round the windows. It has a small metal figur in the shape of a horse on the roof to show which way the wind blows.

It has a garden that mostly is forest, but around my little house there grows daffodils in abundance. And tulips, but the deers ate them all up. And I have pear-, plum-, cherry- and apple trees.

Oops - sorry, did not see your answer.

So - to answer this one -

What is the biggest regret in your life?

That I did not see that my best friend was being abused and beaten by her boyfriend. There where signs, but somehow I managed to not see them. I did not help her until she told me, and even then not as well as I could have.
I regret that.

So -

What is the most beautiful thing you have dreamt about?

i have a strange curse of not being able to remember any of my dreams...even when i was a kid...but if i could dream of something beautiful i think i'd like something kind of like the scene from "the gladiator" when he's walking through the wheat field to his family...i dunno something like that

how many bones have you broken?

Isagel
04-15-2004, 09:44 AM
My arm, by playing with my dog.

And -There are some small bone things at the sides of the spine that keeps the ribs in place. I managed to make one of my ribs to loosen from those when I was putting on makeup on a friend. I turned in some strange angle. It wasn´t really broken but it hurt alot. The doctor had to push it back in place.

Auch.
Makeup is dangerous.

in answer to your question, i dont think so...although one of my neighbors takes it to be his duty to repopulate if not the world, then at least our nation. one of the most confusing days in the town i live in is Father's Day. the old joke here goes:
why does the population of *name of my town* never change?

poems or novels?

emily655321
04-15-2004, 06:30 PM
novels, all the way. Unless I find someone really good, I don't usually read poetry. (like Elizabeth Hollister Frost -- came across her collection "the hovering shadow" in the coffee house, read it cover to cover, haven't been able to find one other copy or person who's heard of her since.)

Have you heard of Elizabeth Hollister Frost? :D

Isagel
04-16-2004, 03:23 AM
No.
But you made me curious so I had to do a quick search.

"Elizabeth (Hollister) Frost was born in Rochester, New York, and was a descendant of Thurlow Weed. On June 3, 1916, she married Elliott Park Frost who was a professor of psychology at the University of Rochester. After his death in 1926, Mrs. Frost began to write poetry and her first book of poems, The Lost Lyrist, was published in 1928. Two other books of poetry, Hovering Shadow (1929) and The Closed Gentian (1931) followed. In 1938 she wrote her first novel, The Wedding Ring, which was published earlier in England under the title of The Good Pain. She later wrote two other novels: This Side of Land (1942) and Mary and the Spinners (1948). On April 16, 1932 she married Walter Dabney Blair. She died April 9, 1958. "

If you search with google you can find usedbook stores that sells the book "The hovering shadow" .

Ooh, thanks Isagel. That's a big help -- the last time I googled her was about 2.5 years ago, and all I got for pages was the address of her grave and the epitaph on her stone (weird).

Sorry you didn't get any suggestions, fool...but for next time, I would definitely say: placing one of their arms or legs around people next to them - simple, yet effective. Great fun, especially if they are passed out for reasons of intoxication :D (Having earned the nicknames "Mother" and "Pillow," you can guess how many bored hours I've spent contemplating such things over my drooling mannequins.)

What is your opinion on designating a Babysitter at parties?

IWilKikU
04-16-2004, 06:54 PM
I don't think its fair to designate one. That person ends up mad at all the drunks and not having any fun. Usually I end up being the most reasonable at parties, even when I'm superdrunk. So I kind of babysit the other drunks. It works out.

i used to name them (college, first time 'round). i don't have any since i moved from california, but had this LUSH ivy that was my baby/pet/owner. i loved her and would admire the new baby sprouty things on/talk with her ALL the time. she was huge, and sometimes her personality overwhelmed me. then i had a fern, and she was in very good shape, after an initial drying up when i first got her. i had her in a decorative terra cotta pot and - oh, notice i'd no male plants. :D i had beans and tomatoes on my back patio, which were very bossy and intelligent and didn't need me at all 'cept for water. so different from house plants. sort of like the dif between outdoor/indoor cats. then i had a bunch of plants i didn't know the names of, but one was three times higher when i gave her away than when i bought her
are you bored yet, oops?

What subject did you hate most at school?

IWilKikU
04-18-2004, 09:18 PM
That depends on what era of school. In grade school it was handwriting. Can you believe that they actually taught a whole class in handwriting?!? What a bunch of crap!! Anyways, I also hated just about any other subject in grade school, so I guess that shouldn't count. In highschool it was science. I HATED Chemistry and Biology, but I quite enjoyed physics. In university, its gotta be computers, but only because I already know how to use everything I'll ever need to know about them. Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and enough about the system to do some quality gaming.

(if you happened to have it, that is)

emily655321
04-20-2004, 01:13 AM
Oh, fun. Poor simon.

Oopsie -- too slow.. new answer: I stay up for hours and hours and hours until the front of my brain starts to swell and my prefrontal cortex stops blocking the dang subconscious, and it all just sort of starts tumbling out. Not a healthy system, but (unreliably) effective. :D

Do you wear a watch?

amuse
04-20-2004, 01:16 AM
yes and freak out when i forget to put it on. failing that i check my cell phone. i only have two watches right now but s'pose that's enough. and i've also got the time on my 2 little accu-check thingamadoos.

now, here in the right :p thread, what dream would you like to help someone else accomplish?

simon
04-20-2004, 01:16 AM
Never wear watches or anything jewelery oriented, don't like it hanging off my skin

If you have ever snowboarded, the first time you got off the ski lift did you fall?

emily655321
04-20-2004, 04:52 AM
Never snowboarded or skied, so I can't answer that one. Az -- rather help someone accomplish one dream, I would feel I had helped them accomplish many yet to come if because of me they came to feel more value in themselves and their abilities and their potential for greatness. That's what I wish I could do for all the people I care about. :)

How many cords are attached to your computer? (the ones behind the desk, like the speakers, modem, power strip, etc.)

verybaddmom
04-20-2004, 05:01 AM
one could choke on the cords if one fell behind the desk...i reccomend strongly staying away from cords if you have even a small fear of snakes or tangly things.
webcam, pda, monitor, mouse, keyboard, mic, phone line in, phone line out, ethernet cable to modem, modem to router, router to cable, speaker, sub, power to sub, lamp, power to pda, printer, power to printer, power to phone, power to monitor, main power to computer and power to small white christmas lights that line the edge of my desk all around.
yikes, i am not a power smart ad....
what's that? 22 or so?
how many lamps in your bedroom?

emily655321
04-20-2004, 05:43 AM
2, but I need another because it's L-shaped (used to be the attic -- just moved in last fall -- whoopee!) and it doesn't take lighting very well.

Do you eat breakfast?

Shea
04-20-2004, 10:14 AM
Only when I get the chance. But I must have at least one cup of coffee. btw, I lived in an "L" shaped attic room for three years myself, and I loved it! I had a little kitchenette, bathroom, fridge, microwave... my own free apartment (I lived with my parents then).

Do you put snack cakes in the freezer? My husband does and I've never heard of that before.

IWilKikU
04-20-2004, 06:04 PM
I can't eat them. I'm not big on sweets to begin with, but I worked in a Little Debbie snack cake factory and after about a week I couldn't even look at one. I havn't eaten a little debbie, or other LD like snack cake in about 6 years.

Do you paint? Do you paint well?

atiguhya padma
04-20-2004, 06:04 PM
Never. Although I have a small freezer, I never have snack cakes.

We share 95% of our genetic makeup with chimpanzees. Why do we think 5% makes so much difference?

IWilKikU
04-20-2004, 06:06 PM
I don't wear any make up. Genetic or otherwise. :) :) :)

Do you paint? Do you paint well?

verybaddmom
04-20-2004, 06:10 PM
5% is huge, as anyone who has spent time with twins will know. my sister's kids are identical twins, so theoretically they have virtually identical genetic makeup, but the differences between them are staggering. if that 0.0002% difference in them is manifested in such varying ways, then 5 whole percent has the potential to leave a large gap indeed.

do you prefer unflavored or flavored coffee? like the amaretto or hazelnut stuff?

verybaddmom
04-20-2004, 06:15 PM
ooops...sorry Kik
and thanks by the way...

um, no i dont paint well, unless you are referring to walls? i had a really great time last year painting this house i was in as it was a "tear down" and i knew i would be the last person to live in it. i then went to the recycle depot, picked up tons of half buckets of used paint, and proceeded to mix me some new colors....it was very fun, sort of a crayola house, but it was a good experiment, because i now know much more about what works and what doesnt....

i refer you to the above coffee question.

IWilKikU
04-20-2004, 06:16 PM
Coffee, unflavoured. Just Black. But I like flavoured lattes. mmmmm

Now for the last time   Do you paint? Do you paint well?

den
04-20-2004, 06:52 PM
Yes I paint really well! I'm fast too! I'm in middle of painting my entire apartment. Applying some `treatments' to a few walls too, one to make look like marble another to look like granite blocks. Painting on canvas is another matter. I'm slow and get too detailed and analytical about it, I need to just do it and go with the results.

What's a crazy full-moon story you have?

IWilKikU
04-20-2004, 09:13 PM
Well, once I gave the "full-moon" to a schoolbus. The driver just happened to be my county sharrif's wife . She came flying out of the bus and performed a citizen's arrest. There was no way we could run, its a small town and everyone recognises everyone else. Plus the yard that I was in belonged to the high school I was in, which the Admin had a real problem with me and was trying to expel me anyways, so if I had run they would have busted me anyways. I just had to chill there until the cops showed up and arrested me. 10 hours comunity service. Ok, so thats not what you ment by 'full-moon', but its pretty damn crazy!

Do you have a fav Short Story? If so, what is it, who wrote it, why is it your fav?

verybaddmom
04-20-2004, 09:21 PM
"The Yellow Wallpaper" by Charlotte Perkins Gilman is probably my favorite short story, partly because i love her use of perspective in the story, but also because it is so subtly layered that i read it fully seven or eight times before i felt that i had any sort of grasp on it.

staying with Kik's theme, what is your favorite poem? and why?

amuse
04-20-2004, 09:43 PM
"The Tale of a Certain Fairy" (it's here) because i find "the man takes out his eyeballs and polishes them more carefully than usual" brilliant and i like the careful but flagrant whimsy Kazuko Shiraishi shows when she writes.

what is your favorite nonfiction work and why?

IWilKikU
04-21-2004, 12:12 AM
There are sooooo many different Genres within nonfiction, so forgive me if I give you more than one.

Chomsky - Understanding Power.
The most objective book about how abuse of power is practically inevitable and why our fearless leaders do the insane things that they do, and how to avoid them... kind of.

Howard Marks - Mr. Nice
I'm not a pot head, but I do enjoy the occasional green day. This book was inspiring. Marks is the biggest Marijuana smuggler in the history of the UK. His stories are fantastic.

Stephen King - On Writing
Probably the best book I've ever read about writing fiction.

That will have to do for now. :)

Are you currently a student? How much school have you finished?

verybaddmom
04-21-2004, 12:19 AM
yes, I'm currently a student, formerly a student, soon to be a student: forever a student...I have completed my Horticultural Science and Landscape Design Program, and the first two, almost three years of a Sociology degree, then switched majors and am now in my second year (three days left!!) working towards a BA major in English. then i have one year after that, to get my secondary Ed. degree, and then i am a full fledged high school English teacher, ready to be underpaid, underappreciated and overworked. YAY...im so excited. I am actually taking this summer off of school; i have done summer semesters every year since 2000. I dont know what im going to do with myself....

What kind of organizational instruments do you employ?
ie: palm pilot, dayminder, notebook, nothing at all....

IWilKikU
04-21-2004, 12:45 AM
I've got a Salvidor Dali assignment book thingy. This is the first semester that I've actually used one and WOW! Its amazing how much easier life is when I know when my essays are due!

What's your fav beer? If you don't like beer, whats your fav alchoholic beverage?

verybaddmom
04-21-2004, 12:47 AM
beer? Corona (La cerveza mas fina??) but otherwise i love amaretto, poured over ice and sipped slowly *ponders this, leaves, returns with glass of amber liquid*.

where exactly is the "happy button"? ;)

IWilKikU
04-21-2004, 01:16 AM
I was trying to put "Right in the Mommy Daddy button" but that wouldn't fit. If you still don't know what I'm talking about, take a gander at Austin Powers: Goldmember, and that should clear things up.

verybaddmom
04-21-2004, 01:53 AM

verybaddmom
04-21-2004, 02:22 AM
heehee,
well, i was going to say probably 1997, but there was that time that i fell asleep while i was at my desk writing, and then didnt wake up in time to go to my graveyard shift... that was only a few weeks ago.

when was the last time you got to sleep in past nine am?

IWilKikU
04-21-2004, 02:24 AM
HAHA! I get to sleep in past nine 5 days a week! *Blows raspberries at the blurry-eyed Mom*

Well, I'm madly sleep deprived 50% of the time, so when you see me post innappropriate things on here that make you giggle, like that condom joke last week, well, you got the idea.

Hehehe, I got to answer 2!

Who's your fav artist, whats your fav painting/sculpture/whatever your fav artist does?

verybaddmom
04-21-2004, 02:28 AM
oooh poor amuse, got lost in the shuffle, but in reality Kik has answered your question because apparently when he is very tired and sleep deprived, he tends to forget to post a question for the next user in line......

Nope. Not really into candy, or buying things

What do you get at Starbucks/whatever coffeeshop you frequent?

Yes to the candy no to anything else

I get mocha anything

If you could change colour, to any colour not just natural skin tones, what colour would you be?

these questions are getting worse and worse.

verybaddmom
04-21-2004, 02:42 AM
well, simon. that got a good old fashioned belly laugh out of me. what a fascinating question....but no, im afraid not. im pretty careful about where i put my tongue. some lessons we learn the hard way ;)

would you pierce your tongue?

verybaddmom
04-21-2004, 02:45 AM
arggghhhhh.......

i would want to be a nice shade of green, somewhere between army green and grass green, maybe shades of both..oohhh, i wanna be cammo color, that's it! that's an interesting insight....

i repeat, would you pierce your tongue??

Repeat colour question.

What are your sneezes like? Ya know how everyone does it a little different?

verybaddmom
04-21-2004, 03:04 AM
am i supposed to sniff pepper and make an audio recording?
how does one describe one's sneeze?
um....lets see. not loud, not squeeky, but as ladylike as possible. It's funny you ask that because i was just laughing about my boyfriend's sneezes the other day. he is a soldier and has been trained not to make any noise when he sneezes, so when it happens its just like this funky weird muscular contraction, and because there is no warning, it always scares the crap out of me!

What movie have you seen so many times that you can recite the dialogue by heart?

What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?

emily655321
04-21-2004, 04:56 AM
May I have a question? :D

verybaddmom
04-21-2004, 04:58 AM
sure...

what is the earliest memory that you have?

emily655321
04-21-2004, 05:14 AM
Hmm...good one. Well, all the baby ones I can't quite put in order, but one is of being in my crib in my parents' room and crying because in the dark my dad's dirty laundry looked like a big black dog lying next to the bed, and my parents turning on the light to show me it was clothes, then turning it off again, and getting angry because "I KNOW it's clothes, but it LOOKS like a dog in the dark, so please take them away or leave the light on," and it just coming out as "Dog! Dog! Waaahhh!!" Another is waking up at night in my crib and thinking, "I want mom. Might as well call her," and starting to cry "mommy," only to see the babysitter appear in the doorway and feeling embarrassed because I didn't realize she was still there and trying to explain to her (a.k.a. "No, no, waahhh!") that I was okay, I was asking for my mom but I was fine now. LOL so in other words, my earliest memories are of being frustrated because I couldn't articulate my thoughts. And of people laughing when I said something serious.

Have you seen "Lost in Translation"? (See it!!)

verybaddmom
04-21-2004, 05:26 AM
nope, i heard it was awful. repeatedly.

You disagree?

emily655321
04-21-2004, 05:32 AM

Should all who disagree with me be rounded up in pens and made to chant my name till they go insane? :D

IWilKikU
04-21-2004, 11:05 AM
I have a manly giggle . I've heard it described as everything from a gremlin to a horse. I would describe it as a chuckley-chortle.

What posters/decorations do you have on your walls?

Sancho
04-21-2004, 11:21 AM
Sconces, fake flowers, filigrees, flourishes, and some stuff that I ain’t even sure what it is. (I’ve got this mean red-haired woman who takes care of that for me.)

Do you prefer to walk or pedal?

emily655321
04-22-2004, 05:09 AM

emily655321

I like the bloated-corpsey kind. :p
Uhm... no. It's possible to respect someone you hate. Personally, I can pity someone I don't respect, but you have to want to be near them to love them. And, on the other side of the coin, you wouldn't feel disrespect for someone you love in the first place.

Do you think people respect you?

Do you ever find yourself telling a little white lie for no apparent reason?

Have you ever taken warnings about the possibility that keyboard usage may be harmful seriously?

emily655321
04-26-2004, 12:00 PM
I began to for a while in 5th grade, watching my piano teacher's hands, but I'm currently undecided on the issue. I've never met anyone with carpal tunnel (sp?), and you'd think there would be a lot by now, seeing how long computers have been in use. I don't really know. I don't take heed of the warnings, anyway.

Did you get a kind of creepy feeling when Admin said 'happy birthday' to Den? :D I mean, I thought it was sweet, but you know, like the sombre figure in the shadows you didn't realize was there, stepping into view: "hi," stepping back into the shadows. No offense, Admin, wherever you are. *talking to the sky* I cracked up though. (And yes, that was all part of the question. :p)

The same thing we do everyday, Pinky: try to--...... no, who am I kidding, I sleep late, scan the funnies for Bush-bashing, feel guilty for not reading the news, glue myself down at the computer, peel myself off a few hours later and go back to sleep. :p I tell you, I'm not proud.

Work on my papers, and I have gazillions of them. I'm such a nerd.

Would you rather be a nerd or a geek?

emily655321
04-27-2004, 06:51 AM
Hi ajoe. I don't know, I think I'm kind of both. Is a nerd like bookish, and a geek is someone so obsessed with something so obscure or unpopular that he is a social pariah? Yeah, then I'm both. :D

Ooh, I had a good one but I forgot. Oh well. Is high school really the "golden years"? Cuz, they're gone, and they sure as hell weren't golden.

Shea
04-27-2004, 11:21 AM
I guess that would depend on which high school you go to and how many times you move around. I loved my first high school but then spent my senior year at a new smaller one, and always felt rather lost.

Do you actually floss your teeth?

verybaddmom
04-27-2004, 12:24 PM
Em,
yes you are right, Baddad had a birthday yesterday; But he is in Mexico right now i believe...no one really knows...he just sort of took off one day and went from nice responsible studious guy (mostly) to vagabond traveller. I have known Baddad for years (I spent a summer on his beach in the Okanagan learning about myself) and i hold him directly responsible for me being who i am today....ya hear that MIKE????
anyhow, when he gets near a computer, he will log on and throw us some of his loud, opinionated and brilliant wisdom, then be gone, leaving us wanting more, im sure...wait and see.

LoL that's weird and a half. I love it.

Gahh! No talk about getting teeth pulled. :( *squelches sore wisdom tooth* I feel like there's always Jaws music playing, because I don't even know when my appointment is. *wahhh*

But I wouldn't get dentures. They have a thing they can do now where they surgically replace one or more teeth with an exact porcelain replica. If my teeth got really bad, I might do that. Fortunately, I've inherited a pretty decent pair of chompers from the Cherokee side of the family. Maybe a kind of consolation for inheriting those damn bat-shaped ears from the Irish one. *makes sure hair is covering ears*

How many times a year do you get sick?

Shea
04-27-2004, 03:51 PM
Ohh, poor ajoe!:( I can totally sypathize! When I get sick depends on when I get stressed. I was sick twice in December, once for exams and again when I spent Christmas for the first time with my in-laws. Then I got sick at the end of January becuase I tried to take too many classes! I'm very surprised that my paper didn't make me sick!

What are some home remedies that you use when your sick?

IWilKikU

I don't get sick, so I don't know, but I always recomend holding your thumb in your ear until your ailment goes away. No one I've prescribed it for has done it long enough for it to actually work though.

Do you listen to music when you read?

This being my 666th post, I feel obliged to make my answer evil somehow. But I can't think of how, so I have to say... YES I hate just getting handed something, "here's your present." Being given something *pretty* is half the fun. I spend soooo much time wrapping presents.

I watched the Ring a couple of times. I'd say that counts.

Have you ever sat on the ground in a public place where everyone else was standing, just cause you wanted to sit?

Shea
04-29-2004, 11:42 AM
I fell asleep on the sidewalk in Paris while waiting for the bus to take me back to my hotel. Then, because there were no more seats, I fell asleep standing up and dreamed I was eating alphabet soup, only all the letters were M's.

Where's the weirdest place you've ever slept? (Although I think someone has already asked this question before.)

emily655321
04-29-2004, 11:52 AM
I tend to fall asleep in random places when I'm in public. Something about the loud crowd noises all around me makes me tune out the world and lulls me to sleep. I've fallen asleep on the subway before and it scared the bejeezus out of me when I woke up. That's just never a good thing to do. But I don't think I've ever spent the whole night somewhere like that.

What was your special baby toy/blanket, and do you still have it? (Mine was a little stuffed pink hedgehog.)

I don't remember having one. My parents split up when I was six, so I probably wasn't thinking about it. I was always trying to be with one parent or the other.

Are you an only child?

emily655321
04-29-2004, 12:22 PM
No, unfortunately I have a brother who's 22. We've never gotten along -- I'm talking, fundy Christian, ultra-conservative, country-listenin', car mechanic, linear thinker, non-empathetic, A-type personality here. We think aliens brought him. What a cruel joke.

Do political views matter to you with regard to becoming and staying friends/lovers with someone?

do you think that only children tend to be more spoiled or more intellectually developed?

verybaddmom
04-29-2004, 12:24 PM
oops
no, my boyfriend is as perfectly opposite from me as is possible, however, because we respect each other's view and positions we get along famously. (an example? he is a soldier, and i have personally marched for peace)

same question as above...

emily655321
04-29-2004, 12:42 PM
I've met some of both. My best friend is an only child, and she's smart as hell and level-headed and considerate. I think oldest children tend to be worse than only children, judging by... everyone I've met. :p

[edit] forgot a question! Um, are you generally in favor of people recording and releasing covers of songs? (I'm listening to a punk cover of Dylan's "don't think twice, it's alright" right now.)
