do you play a musical instrument?
tailor STATELY
08-23-2018, 04:18 AM
Sadly no... although I have "composed/transcribed" a small piece of music from a lucid dream (with some variations) using computer software. I "wrote" it first as a tiny poem and then applied the music I "heard" painstakingly tinkling and tinkering with the software. Better variations (which I have somehow misplaced) were made by a very musically-inclined "Sister" with her piano chops (she was the one who taught me some rudimentary music to get started after choir)... maybe on my aging dust-covered desktop box or the slaved hard-drive ?

The reason this is my favorite of his paintings is because I happened upon it after I had written a poem (below) in the Poetry Games and Contests/colours poetry/#126... and (to my mind) perfectly illustrates what I envisioned when I wrote the poem...
The Sky; a Pool of Blue
I reached for the sky into a pool of blue
The ripples from my finger tips did produce
a certain concentric synchronicity -
bringing all my earthly sorrows into view
I bowed my head in offering up a prayer;
while the heavens wept with me from clouds which did
appear - I then beheld Him, the Lamb of God,
who placed my burden into His loving care

A city that is losing itself in a strive for power between different local barons, yet aspires to be capital to an entire continent. The result is a, by times, administrative nightmare. Despite all that, daily life is mostly fabulous. The city is a patchwork of neighbourhoods and area's that each offer their own atmosphere: from lively neighbourhoods filled with pubs and terraces in the summer to more elegant areas with more reserved restaurants, from residential areas with the odd local bistro offering unexpected high standard food to business areas that thrive on activity in the day time, yet lie desolate at night. Due to it being home to several international organisations, the population has also turned into a melting pot: there are pubs where, at the end of an office day, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish... are all spoken at the same time.

thanks spike---the easiest solution is to limit the "goings in" so to speak so that there are no opportunities for the "get outs" to develop.
I could argue (to myself) that home is my favorite destination. so no compass points for that. however, in so much as I like bike riding, which would usually start on the road in front of my house, which is 296 degrees , which is wnw. that was fun. after that, the destinations vary, but god willing, always end at home.
as an inside, hopefully interesting, geographic influence often shows up in my rooting for sports teams when it comes to end of year play. if I don't otherwise care, its the north over the south, and the east over the west. but oddly enough when it comes to baseball and football, its also historically been the national league (or conference) over the American league (the upstarts!).
