Stars usually but sometimes one sometimes the other.
What is mainstreamist? I can't find it in my dictionary. :D
The Comedian
03-31-2009, 10:22 AM
I think it is the tendency for canoeist, such as myself, to prefer paddling in primary (main) waterways (stream) over smaller tributaries (hence, mainstreamist). Of course, I have nothing against tributaryists (though I hear they have small paddles), but being a mainstreamist offers more overall delight in the paddling experience to both the serious and recreational paddler.
Of course, a mainstreamist could be someone who watches American Idol just because her friends to. I don't really know. :)
My question: Have you ever paddled a canoe?
*Classic*Charm*
03-31-2009, 10:45 AM

Stars usually but sometimes one sometimes the other.
What is mainstreamist? I can't find it in my dictionary. :D
It's a word I made up. :D I guess it just means that I found something I liked in the mainstream literature world- I am not accustomed to digging deep into the banks of literary history to find something. That being said, I assume Robert Jordan would be considered mainstream fantasy/scifi.
Why not? It sounds like a good word.
Do you ever get confused by big words like I do?
a_little_wisp
03-31-2009, 02:54 PM
It's not so much the definitions that floor me as the pronunciation. Because I was a hopeless bookworm as a little girl, I learned so many words that I wasn't using in my spoken vocabulary yet, so I pronounced them funny when I started saying them aloud!
