Will the military industrial complex in the US ever be reigned in?
Hawkman
07-24-2013, 11:53 AM
Actually I'm inclined to think that it already has been. The US fleet is now half the size that it was 15 years ago. The US is now feeling the pinch, and being the world's policeman is a costly business, as the British empire discovered. Still, a vast amount still gets spent on research and development with ever more exciting methods of mass destruction in the pipeline. Still, no matter how sophisticated the weapon, a bunch of determined blokes up in the hills with RPGs and AKs still seem to be able to cause no end of trouble, so anti missile missiles and stealth fighters don't actually seem to be all that effective against them. The will to empire seems to have faded a bit since the end of the last century.

Stalin was a little too paranoid and mercurial to be anyone's friend. Hitler didn't actually kill his friends until they betrayed him, or happened to be in his way :D He was quite happy to kill lots of other people though. Either way, one would be eternally damned . I think in the long run, Stalin actually killed more people too, most of them his own!

I had this dream once where there was a black mass in the upper corner of my bedroom and it was trying to pull me to it, I resisted as best I could then I woke up.
I got quite interested when I saw the mention of a black mass. I was just about to go fetch my sacrificial daggers and black candles, when I noticed that it was reputedly floating in the corner of the room. Probably not my kind of black mass then. Sounds more like a malevolent barrage balloon. Hi Ho. If you find a goat tethered outside and a cage containing a black male chicken and a white hen, you'll know I stopped by ;)

Hawkman
08-24-2013, 07:29 PM
Now it's a bit tough to pick just one. Lucky Number Slevin is one, and Hannibal is another. Paycheck is quite rewatchable too. The wanton violence of Taken is pure escapist therapy, except for the way Liam Neeson's ex treats him with such contempt. No wonder he has to take it out on all those bad guys lol. Ice Age 3 & 4 are very entertaining, but frankly I could watch all the Ice age films just for Scrat!

First, how do you know your general is a pervy if that's private? Not so private? There is never an only chance of winning. The general will get a demotion, a court martial, and a new general given the task. It's as simple as that.

What do people text/message rather than calling?
lilimarlene
08-27-2013, 12:54 PM
Mostly for convenience but sometimes at the expense of intimacy as it’s hard to detect subtle nuances and read emotions in a text/chat or email. Emotional connections rely on facial expression, the sound of a voice, body language, looking into someone’s eyes. Reading emotions even face to face can be tricky and requires a lot of practice and feedback. Those that carry out most of their relationships by texting, emailing or chatting on the internet I think do so to keep others at a distance they can control: not too close, not too far, just right. They can control the image and the self they want to be. They can edit, they can delete. or retouch. But mostly they can remain safe in their little bubble at a distance and wonder why with all these connections and “friends” they still feel so lonely.
