yeah scared the life out of me or probably more accuratly seriously creeped me out especially the swimming pool bit.
If you could be any inanimate object what would you be and why??

imthefoolonthehill
06-23-2005, 01:16 AM
I think I would be a candle at a dinner table at a dimly lit Italian or French restaurant.

Then my efforts would be of use, the energy i give off in the form of light would have purpose, and I would be around people in love all the time.

I like this question, and will ask the next person to pretend i repeated it.

mono
06-23-2005, 01:36 AM
Perhaps a window, remaining indoors and outdoors simultaneously.

To the person below me: what measures as your astrological sign?

mono
07-28-2005, 10:58 PM
I think I killed the game several weeks ago, so I finally decided to change my question, as you see. :D

To the person below me: what measures as your astrological sign?

papayahed
07-29-2005, 09:53 AM
I don't understand the question?

shortysweetp
07-29-2005, 10:29 AM
me neither are you asking what our zodiac sign is? mine is virgo

amuse
07-30-2005, 12:28 AM
or are you asking the degrees? my sun is 7 degrees sag.

Miss Darcy
07-30-2005, 05:46 AM
Er, I dunno about degrees, I haven't got any so far (:goof:)...but my star sign is Capricorn. Yep. The mergoat. ;)

I like goats. They're lovely animals. :D

In Chinese Astrology I'm a ssssssnake. Well. Also nice, especially if they're not venemous. (*whistles innocently*) Have you ever patted a snake? They're really soft and well they feel really beautiful.

To the person below: same question. That is, what's your astrological sign?

mono
07-30-2005, 10:21 PM
Oops, sorry, I now realize that I phrased the question strangely.
In astrology, I consist of the strangest mix of the feline and canine family - Leo and, in Chinese astrology, the dog. :p

To the person below me: what book did you most love in childhood?

shortysweetp
07-30-2005, 10:58 PM
little house on plum creek (actually the whole series)

TPBM (to the person below me) who was or is your favorite author in high school?

Bianca Fransen
07-31-2005, 05:59 PM
*takes a long time to ponder over this question*..Ouch, I am afraid this is an author nobody knows here: Willem Frederik Hermans. A Dutch author that writes books in which it is apparent that people can never really understand each other and that all communication is doomed to fail. But I already also started my attachment to Charles Dickens - though I could not understand his brilliance yet as I read his books in Dutch (heavily adapted) translations.

I love this question so will repeat it: who was or is your favorite author in high school?

shortysweetp
07-31-2005, 07:50 PM
Stephen King, VC Andrews, Jean Auel, RL Stine but then my senior year i was introduced to Jane Austen who is now and will forever be my favorite.

favorite song in high school?

adilyoussef
07-31-2005, 09:22 PM
In high school, I was a troublsome person. I liked "Never Mind" by Nirvana. I was very fun of Nirvana.

To the person below me: What is the best memory you ever had? I mean an event or a memorable day.

mono
08-01-2005, 01:16 AM
The best memory, I have no idea, but a very memorable event I had once regarded an odd event. As a very young child, I refused to speak to anyone (including to myself in private) for over a year, but communicated through actions, due to many complex, stressful events; after much thought, I remember speaking for the first time, following the hiatus, to the great surprise of my family.

To the person below me: what do you own as your most prized possession, and why do you put so much value on it?

Miss Darcy
08-01-2005, 05:50 AM
My violin, no doubt about it. I actually only just got a new, more expensive one. It's really beautiful and has a deep, vibrant tone. Why? That, and because it can "express the inexpressible", to quote Huxley ("After silence, that which comes closest to expressing the inexpressible is music.")

Same question. :D

Monica
08-01-2005, 09:00 AM
My komboloi. I bought it two weeks ago and have never been separated from it since. It reminds me of somebody very special, who is far away from me and who I know I will never see again :bawling:

Monica
08-01-2005, 09:01 AM
same question

papayahed
08-01-2005, 11:38 AM
My grandmothers rosary. It's not very valuable and I don't necessarily believe in praying the rosary but it reminds me of my grandparents, besides everything else can be replaced.

What's the last thing you ate or drank?

NNoah3
08-01-2005, 12:21 PM
Although is a warm morning I drank coffee a while ago. I feel like a zombie if I don't drink coffee in the mornings.

What was the last weirder thing that you did?

Bianca Fransen
08-02-2005, 04:22 PM
I turned down a great job, because I want to be a writer  :goof:

Same question.

AimusSage
08-02-2005, 04:50 PM
I played with a metal detector in the living room this evening. Apparantly the cat has a metal plate in his head. :D

What would you define as a fun evening?

mono
08-03-2005, 02:36 PM
I think it really depends on my mood, which can range immensely. If I feel in a more energetic, exciting mood, perhaps attending a concert or a movie with some friends and/or family, followed by an evening on the town, doing whatever proceeds :D; in other cases, a calm evening of reading or writing, with some coffee or tea, and some light classical music playing in the background sounds suitable.

To the person below me: do you tend to worry often and strive towards perfection, or not worry, "letting things fall as they may," so to speak?

Bianca Fransen
08-03-2005, 04:29 PM
Oh, definitely a worryer and perfectionist here. Could not "let things fall" if my life depended on it. Does not mean that people notice I try to do thinks perfect ;).

To the person below me: what would you immediately do if you win 10 million in a lotery?

AimusSage
08-03-2005, 05:10 PM
Be extremely happy with my good fortune and buy a lot of cars and a mansion with a huge library for a ****load of books I'll buy. I'll invest the rest. No good deeds like charity, I am egostical and mean like that.

To the person below me: When do you feel most selfish?

baddad
08-04-2005, 02:39 AM
I feel most selfish just when I realize I've acted selfishly............but I suppose self awareness is a learning tool.......

Ttpbm: Do you often/sometimes/never examine your own motivations after a particularly gruelling interaction with someone?

Adelheid
08-04-2005, 07:35 AM
often.

To the person below me: Do you still get nightmares from which you wake up sweating? If so, how often?

Bianca Fransen
08-04-2005, 08:00 AM
Yes.. but not so often. Had a very terrible one a couple of weeks ago. But mostly it is once a month or so. I am more afraid with my eyes open ;).

I am curious what someone else will answer.. so I ask the same question..

Adelheid
08-04-2005, 08:08 AM
cool question...! ;)

not really. It's hard to explain- it only happens after I read a particularly scary or mystifying story, that I keep thinking about it in my sub-conscious mind, and toss and turn on bed all night, imagining the murderer or whatever else is after me. :D I "wake" up in the morning feeling more tired than before I went to bed!

To the person below me: How often do you visit this website, and how long (average) do you spent on it each time?

GruesomeBugman
08-04-2005, 11:34 AM
I usually visit every week, but recently... every few months ^^;
when I'm here, I usually spend an hour or so online.

To the person below me:
What's the most unusual thing you've ever eaten?

mono
08-04-2005, 08:43 PM
Hmmm, I have consumed some strange things, for sure . . . before my vegetarian days, many years ago, a friend tricked me into eating haggis once; not to sound like a preaching vegetarian, however, any meat (or mixture :p) sounds unusual to me. Other than that, mochi seems always strange to eat, but delicious! :D

To the person below me: who, do you know (friends/family/enemies), has most inspired you, and how/why?

Sigur Rose
08-05-2005, 12:56 PM
My grandmother's boyfriend Ken Vaughn died last year. He was the most fascinating person I have ever met. He was working on getting a patent for a hospital invention, he was in WWII, he starred on a T.V. show, and he was the kindest person you will ever meet. He loved my grandmother even though she was a gold-digger but loved her as much as he could. I wish I knew him better.

What's is your first memory ever? The first thing that ever happened to you ever?

CheshireCat87
08-05-2005, 05:31 PM
my first day of 3 year old preschool. my now best friend came up to me and said 'boys don't wear dresses" (i had a "pixie" hair cut and she thought i was a boy it was the start of possible one of the most honest friends ships ( i have to go and repress memories now :'( ))

what is the best book of all time

Bianca Fransen
08-05-2005, 05:48 PM
For me: Garden of Eden by Ernest Hemingway..

What is most striking about your best friend?

GruesomeBugman
08-05-2005, 08:15 PM
the odd color of her eyes.
Blue, with little white markings that look almost like tiny veins, or capped waves, randomly in there.

it's beautiful.
(getting away from the looks department) she enjoys eating insects with me =) ... that's more rare than one might imagine.

below me, same question.

mono
08-06-2005, 02:21 PM
In appearance - her large, beautiful eyes, and (I know it sounds strange) her hands.
In personality - her astounding wisdom, for someone her age.

To the person below me: where would you call the oddest place you have traveled?

GruesomeBugman
08-06-2005, 06:55 PM
oddest place... windsor, nova scotia, canada.
odd customs in that little town, but I enjoyed it quite a bit because of them.

to the person eblow me, what's your favorite scent, and what, if anything does it remind you of?

Aramis
08-06-2005, 07:13 PM
My favourite smell is the "old book" smell, and that reminds me of libraries. (This is closely seconded by the "new book" smell.)

To the person below me: Is the glass half empty or half full?

imthefoolonthehill
08-06-2005, 07:29 PM
empty after i drink it all.

Is there anything that doesn't exist?

RococoLocket
08-06-2005, 08:12 PM
Money trees that are available to everyone, on sale in garden centers :(

If you could wear anything, any type of clothing, from any era or age in time, what would you wear & why? :)

imthefoolonthehill
08-06-2005, 10:08 PM
hold on a minute... doesn't the word is imply existance? Are there money trees that are available to everyone that don't exist?

chmpman
08-07-2005, 02:49 AM
Someone could construct a money tree. With a little tape and time.

Space suit from the original moon landing. Because they're rad.

If you could live happily on any planet other than earth, which would you choose; and briefly, why?

AimusSage
08-07-2005, 02:55 PM
Mars, and very briefly, with a spacesuit on, or a biodome, otherwise I would suffocate.

To keep with the Space theme:
How would you define a planet, is pluto according to you a planet, or just a big chunk of ice from the Kuipersbelt?

papayahed
08-08-2005, 09:42 AM
I'm going to say its a planet, only because I'm clinging to the belief I learned in school which taught that there were nine pantes, Pluto being the last. Percival Lowell discovered it I believe and named it after that loveable Disney Dog......(ok perhaps not)

Which sci fi world would you live in if you could?

Aramis
08-08-2005, 10:07 AM
I would live in the world of Stargate. :)

More sci-fi... If you could travel back in time, would you try to change anything?

Chava
08-08-2005, 11:35 AM
hardly, except maybe a considerate distribution of condoms to random celebrities and politician's parents....

Does music give you mood swings?

mono
08-08-2005, 11:42 AM
Sometimes, certain kinds of music will either enhance or nearly destruct my mood, but rarely changes my mood entirely; it more exaggerates my moods.

To the person below me: what phenomenon (or phenomena) most interests you?

adilyoussef
08-09-2005, 08:02 PM
Really, I'm not intrested by any fenomenon. But the thing that most fasinates me is human's emotions and how they affect our relations with the people cloese to us. I always ask myself "why do we love a person without having the right to choose this love or refuse it?" I mean that our emotions and affections can be directed to a person who sometimes we know nothing about him or her. But what is the relationship between the image that we see and the affection and pumping of the heart that it arise when it is seen.

To the person below me: have you ever felt that you are not in controle of your life? If so, how did you manage to overcome this situation?

baddad
08-10-2005, 03:52 AM
Many, many times. I overcame the feeling when I realized that we only control certain aspects of our lives and this control is initiated by the choices we make. Volition is the drive of our circumstance. Besides, life is chaos, and chaos is applied throughout the universe, so why should our particular circumstance be any different?

Have you ever given any merit to the idea that you may have influenced another person just by the power of your thoughts?

Scheherazade
08-10-2005, 04:21 AM
Often. What made you ask that particular question do you think?

*grins knowingly*

One possession you can do without for the rest of your life?

Adelheid
08-10-2005, 05:41 AM
*thinking hard* i'd have to be the .....ermm..... goodness, this IS a hard question! What CAN i do without??? ah ha! I got it... my bad dreams. :D

Have u ever walked into a room and forgotten why you ever walked in there? Say one incident.

imthefoolonthehill
08-10-2005, 10:06 AM
Um i walked downstairs to get my calculator, and i forgot what i was looking for, came back and returned to my homework... and rememebered.

Not exactly an entertaining story, but you asked.

What is the most mediocre thing you've ever done? (most mediocre sounds funny, but deal with it)

by the way... chimpman or whoever said it: if you construct something that doesn't exist, it now exists.

so my question from way back when remains. Is there anything that doesn't exist?

Sigur Rose
08-10-2005, 02:45 PM
Boy, where do i start?
I guess the most mediocre is make medoiocre grades.

Do you believe in karma? Why? Examples?

baddad
08-10-2005, 10:21 PM
Yes, I believe in Karma, often the instant kind. Why? John Lennon told me so in a song. And it appeals to my spiritual side. Examples? Sure, nothing specific, but all our actions have consequences and these are what I term, 'Karma. Hang out with the wrong type of people, do bad things, bad things happen to you (or so we can designate this cause and effect correlation if we need reasons as to why poop happens). Whatever circle you move in dictates the type of consequences you experience from your actions.....vague enough answer? Well, Karma is pretty vague too.........

I feel that Fool deserves an answer as well: Some believe that if we imagine it, it exists on SOME plane......so if a person were to answer your question,Fool, they would in some respects be creating the very thing they claim does not exist.......hrumph! *confuses self....grins back at Sher*

If by killing one person (you would have to commit the act with your own hands) you could bring temporary (let us say several years) of peace to all of humanity, would you do it, and how would you determine your choice of ......victim....or savior, I suppose?

imthefoolonthehill
08-11-2005, 12:42 AM
no. I don't love humanity enough.

However, if i could send us spiraling into an age of darkness... i very well might.

Choice of victim: whoever ticked me off.

Maybe someone who was terminally ill.

Situation: your arm was hacked off by something. You are patched up and alive - not going to bleed to death.

There is no food. You either eat your own flesh or die.

What do you do?

Adelheid
08-11-2005, 05:48 AM
Yuck! Why ask these sort of questions??? Gross! I'd rather die... you'd die eating your own flesh anyway... might as well die whole in body! ;)

You are in a desert, starving and dehydrated. Your only source of food and water is from a chilli plant growing nearby...which is the hottest plant in the world. you've scoured around looking for roots and other edible plants, but find none, and you are getting desperate. Would you eat the hottest chilli in the world or die? Remember there's no water to quench the fire! :D

papayahed
08-11-2005, 09:48 AM
I'd probably eat the chili plant.

That's the most disgusting or worst tasting food you've ever eaten?

Chava
08-11-2005, 12:34 PM
brr... tomatoes stuffed with other soggy vegetables, swimming in soggy vegetable juice.... ugh....
that was after tomato soup for starters... i really thought i wouldn't make it...
but by other peoples standards.. perhaps the rat i had once (which i thought was pretty good actually)

How do you react, when you just know the whole world is trying to give you the finger? ('scuse me, bad day)

mono
08-11-2005, 04:31 PM
I have a whole variety of reactions, depending on my mood. Often, I will "grin and bear it," so to speak, and make things look like nothing bothers me, but that does not sound so healthy. Otherwise, if I feel the harm seems intentional, I will confront someone; if not intentional, I usually go to my bedroom, turn on some music, and do some writing.
I hope your day improves, Chava; I send warm wishes!

To the person below me: when did you last feel seriously ill?

Adelheid
08-12-2005, 03:18 AM
About a month ago. It was terrible! I was so weak I couldn't walk, I had turned all pale, experienced terrible dizzyness and couldn't eat. I threw up almost everything I ate. It was MOST uncomfortable. I have yet to find a name for it. I guess it's a mixture of Fever (although I didn't have a temperature) and the GastroBug.

What was the worst nightmare you have ever dreamed of?

mono
08-12-2005, 02:59 PM
I have had many dreams of drowning, which, combined with my fear of water, created quite a scare. I once also had a dream of feeling awake and lucid, but paralyzed; somehow, I could only move my left hand, but the rest of me felt heavy and panicked - then I finally woke, and only thought it a very strange dream.

To the person below me: same question.

AimusSage
08-12-2005, 05:38 PM
Just fire everywhere. I dream that often and it scares me every time.

To the person below me, what according to you would be closest to perfection?

mono
08-13-2005, 02:27 PM
Hmmm, good question, probably the ideal, utopia thought in concepts of Heaven and Paradise; but, I think, the closest to perfection we can come to - imagination. Not as proof, but for something to consider, as John Milton wrote in Paradise Lost:

The mind is its own place, and in itself creates
A Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven.

To the person below me: same question (good one!).

Bianca Fransen
08-13-2005, 02:31 PM
Ehm, to me nature at its purest comes closest to perfection. Pieces of land that mankind have hardly or not interfered with or parts of the ocean.

What would have to be part of your perfect day?

imthefoolonthehill
08-14-2005, 12:39 AM
Love.

What would have to be a part of the perfect alchoholic drink?

AimusSage
08-14-2005, 05:03 AM
Alcohol, I guess.

What are you living for?

Nightshade
08-14-2005, 12:41 PM
I dont know somtimes its like Im only living because I refuse to commit suicide but more often it sheer curiosity I love wondering what each day will bring?

What was the hardest choice you ever had to make?

AimusSage
08-14-2005, 05:49 PM
to life or to die. It was a hard choice at the time. I didn't quite see the world as a bright place ( I still don't but I have accepted that) and well, that is it. I think you can guess what I choose.

In what situation do you find you hide yourself from the truth?

Scheherazade
08-14-2005, 06:44 PM

Are you willing to make a sacrifice for another?

tiny explorer
08-14-2005, 10:36 PM
Make a sacrifice if it is worth to be.
If it is worth to be given......but there is no love for sacrifice...will you?

mono
08-15-2005, 01:23 AM
Sure, "if it is worth to be given," then, indeed, I would make the sacrifice, depending on its extent.

To the person below me: what have you considered your biggest sacrifice for someone else, and why did you do it?

Adelheid
08-15-2005, 10:48 AM
hmmm...tough one to answer, mono. I'm not sure if i've ever considered making a huge sacrifice... But maybe becoming a Christian was a sacrifice in a way, since there are certain laws that would have to be obeyed... why i made it? I did it, because it was the best thing I could have done, in return for Jesus' love for me, that it would not be vain....

What is your option of my answer? :D

Nightshade
08-15-2005, 01:08 PM
Errr I think itrs a pretty good answer butI want to say somthing and PLEASE do not be offended or take this the wrong way but surly any sacrafice for religion is a sacrifice for your own benifit because of the rewadrs you will one day -God willing- reep?

PBM Did my answer make sense and dfo you think Ive offended Her??

mono
08-15-2005, 02:24 PM
Yes, Nightshade, your answer made sense. Whether you may have offended Adelheid, I have no idea, but I feel that anyone has a right to his/her opinions, spirituality, religion, beliefs, etc. I respect anyone with any religion or spiritual belief, though, sometimes, they will differ from my own, and I would hope that others would have an equal, reciprocating reverence.

To the person below me: how did you discover this website?

Nightshade
08-15-2005, 02:30 PM
I googled Forums for bored peole on reading, and Literature
worked perfectly!
PBM: momo's question again!!

adilyoussef
08-15-2005, 08:17 PM
I was looking for some help to analyse a novel by Ernest Hemingway and a link from google brought me here.

PBM Did my answer make sense and dfo you think Ive offended Her??

to your answer, no you didn't offend me. and don't we all do things out of either love for the person or what the person can offer you? In my instance, it was both. I love Jesus, and I love what Jesus had to offer. Doesn't that make sense too?

Yes i spend most of my time on the web browsing this site, so it has to be enjoyable for me. :D And I actually first came here to read some of the stories, but lately I come here more for the forums. Whoever came up with this site is a genius! :thumbs_up Too bad I didn't think of it first!

What about you? What is your opinion of this website?

Das ist gut. :D

To the person below me: what do you imagine comes after death?

Ancestor
08-16-2005, 05:42 AM
I will be reunited with all my loved ones then I begin the learning process once again. I hope that I will become a spirit guide to someone on this plane.

To the person below me: Do you believe in psychic abilities and if not why?

Nightshade

Sure, you only use about a 1/3rd of your brain afterall aqnd as my dad (whos a neurosergon0 is fond of saying The brain is still one BIG mystery one we are probably never destened to fully understand

PBM: Have you ever thought about suicide??

Taliesin
08-16-2005, 01:06 PM
What is the PBM?

But about suicide - do in-game thoughts in LARPs count? We haven't thought about it in real life, but a character we played this weekend was pretty depressed.

What is the meaning of half-lived life?

mono
08-16-2005, 02:26 PM
Sure, you only use about a 1/3rd of your brain afterall aqnd as my dad (whos a neurosergon0 is fond of saying The brain is still one BIG mystery one we are probably never destened to fully understand
Wow, a neurosurgeon! How cool! I love neurology also (and endocrinology).

To Taliesin's question: to me, a life one did not quite live to his/her full potential, especially when he/she knows it. :eek2:

To the person below me: do you find any natural sciences interesting (biology, chemistry, physics, ecology, botany, astronomy, meterology, etc.)?

papayahed
08-16-2005, 05:43 PM
DO I??????? I love chemistry, physics, and astronomy. The rest I'm lukewarm on. Science is Cool!!!

Gravity - Not just a good idea -> It's the law.

Anybody have any Algebra homework they need help with?

That wasn't my question. Here's my real question:

what is the hardest class you've ever taken?

Nightshade
08-16-2005, 06:55 PM

What is the PBM?
Person Below Me

PBM papayhed's q again

what is the hardest class you've ever taken?

baddad
08-16-2005, 07:56 PM
1st, 2nd and 3rd year Women's Studies. Extremely dense political, philosophical, and historical material......too much for just one man.......

If you could teach any age of children what level would you think would have the most influence on their lives??

Ancestor
08-16-2005, 08:02 PM
Early teens because that is the time most kids are going through puberty which brings peer pressure. That was about the time my Niece's self esteem began declining. I have seen kids 11 years old start thinking they are fat at around 80 pounds and that is sad.

Who has been your greatest influence and why?

Adelheid
08-17-2005, 03:44 AM
To Taliesin, PBM stands for person below me. That took me awhile to figure out before.... but you'll work it out someday.... :D

My parents have been my greatest influence, because I have always been fortunate to have them around most of the time, and ready to listen to whatever problems I have. I guess kids are also naturally influenced by their parents.

Do you believe in the "end times", or the end of the world? Why or why not? What is your view?

America141
08-17-2005, 12:35 PM
yes I do believe in end times. I believe in the Bible and it does seem to hint out some bad things going down...though I tend to think that it will be brought about more by us being dumb about war and not really a couple of angles on horses....

PBM....What are you most proud of in your life?

papayahed
08-17-2005, 01:45 PM
oh jeez I dunno. I'm not sure what I'm most proud of, careerwise the biggest feather in my cap is that I have a patent.

Same question.

mono
08-17-2005, 03:56 PM
Hmmm, difficult to say. I suppose I feel most proud of my family and a few friends of mine, seeing them through their toughest times, though now they flourish successfully - the same with my cats. :p

To the person below me: I liked papayahed's previous question -

what is the hardest class you've ever taken?

AimusSage
08-17-2005, 04:56 PM
Spanish class.

How would you describe what it is like for you to miss someone?

Ancestor
08-17-2005, 05:09 PM
Spanish class.

How would you describe what it is like for you to miss someone?

What a interesting question and one that is not easy to answer for me but I shall try. Waking up to begin the day my thoughts drifted to you and realizing that I no longer could hold you in my arms. My arms grew heavy and ached to wrap them selves around you. As time goes by the pain became less and less but the heart keeps your memory alive and knowing one day we shall be together lifts my spirits.

Why does religion have to have apocalyptic ending for us humans?

baddad
08-17-2005, 07:55 PM
Oh yeah, sure, the end is coming for all of us. But I am assuming you mean, MANKIND!
Yes, there will be an end, but humans will go out with a whimper, not a bang. We will slowly die off, of disease, or pollution, or as just another casualty on the ongoing list of endangered species. Many species have dominated the earth, we are just the current tenants.

What species (plant? animal? bug?) do you think has the best chance of replacing mankind as the dominant species on earth?

Nightshade
08-17-2005, 08:12 PM
Probably the cockroach have you seen Men in Black eggggggggI just hope I am extinct before it happens.
The only problem with is of course I dont belive seeing as I belive in the evntual occurance of "the last day"/ day judgment Armeggdon apoclapyse whatever you want to call it in fact I dont understand why people worry about or think its a bad thing?

Have you ever read The day of the Triffids??

Miss Darcy
08-18-2005, 06:56 AM
No...is it good?

To the PBM: What's your favourite quote?

Adelheid
08-18-2005, 09:09 AM
Hmm.... I had one, but I can't remember now. *sheepish grin* can I use a well known quote? :D

"I came, I saw, I conquered" Julius Caesar

PBM: What is your worst horror? The worst thing that could happen to u. (in reality)

mono
08-18-2005, 03:04 PM
Probably drowning. :eek2:

To the person below me: do you have a favorite photographer, and, if so, who?

Adelheid
08-19-2005, 03:44 AM
Umm I don't think I have a favourite photographer...unless it's myself. ;)

PBM: Who avatar (besides your own) do you like the best?

Loki
08-19-2005, 07:39 AM
I like many...yours, Baddad's, Mono's, and AimusSage's probably numbering among my favourites.

PBW - okay, just kidding. PBM...hmmm.....what do you think about society?

mono
08-19-2005, 02:35 PM
Hmmm, difficult and general question. I suppose for society as a whole, in my American culture (for it really depends on the culture), I have much hope, but see ourselves too often succumbing to our less-humane instincts, appetites, and apparent pre-requisite of greed for 'happiness' - thus appears burglary, murder, unwanted pregnancy, controllable obesity, very unneeded war, etc. Sadly, we (and I speak of myself, too) rely much on others to solve problems - the miracle pill for all medical conditions, funding for multiple reasons and from multiple sources, immense problems with pollution, etc.; and, even worse, it seems we require some kind of traumatic event to stir us into action, preventing further damage, when all could have had prevention to begin.
Of course, I speak very generally, for good reasons, as according to the forum guidelines, but, overall, I have much hope for all societies. Fate, if it indeed exists, can never seem utilitarian, promoting the greatest good, yet I feel optimistic.

Whew!

To the person below me: what did you call your dream occupation as a child?

adilyoussef
08-20-2005, 11:14 AM
When i was a child I always dreamt of becoming an adult as quick as possible to experience my adult life like the others do. Once an adult I'm really chocked.

Same question

Quixotte
08-20-2005, 01:16 PM
My main concern as a child was finding a "wishing stone". As soon as I learned how to read and write, I made my first entry in my diary: "First of all I should find the "Wishing Stone." As a matter of fact I am still looking for it.

_____________________
Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul...

Question from Quixotte: What is HOPE for you?

adilyoussef
08-20-2005, 07:01 PM
Hope is a word made of four letters. 'H' like hide your emotions; 'O' like open your eyes; 'P' like punctuate yourself; and 'E' like emotions. When they are gather, they make up a word that make our dreams alive, our embitions alive, and, in short, us alive. 'Hope' is a word that one understands its meaning intill he/she loses it. It's in our thoughts and believes.

To the person below me: do you agree with my definition of 'hope'? If not, give one of yours?

mono
08-20-2005, 09:16 PM
Yes, I agree mostly with your definition, adilyoussef; it makes much sense, though I do not see a lot of purpose in hiding emotions. I suppose, to me, hope has always consisted of a driving force (a motive, or, sometimes, a need) that can too often get confused with expectations; until then, it seems nearly pure, sometimes stagnant and latent, but persistent.

To the person below me: what most motivates you in life - yourself, friends, family, success, intimacy, power, etc.?

Ancestor
08-20-2005, 11:09 PM
Family and friends for they make me the richest person in world. You can have your money, power, and all that comes with it but for me without them I would not have been brave enough to send in a poem which started my writing.

To the person below me:What was to most horrific experience you have ever had?

tiny explorer
08-21-2005, 05:36 AM
The most horrific experience for me is indeed the cursed moment of my life! And that was when I met my ex-boyfriend.HE'S A DUMP!

tO you : HOw did you try to keep out from your horrific moment?

mono
08-21-2005, 02:08 PM
Personally, I just try to make wise choices, though it seems far easier said than done. I only try not to act out of impulse, but rather out of intuition, and, most importantly, take responsibility for my own actions, not involving others.

To the person below me: what music do you find most irritating, and why?

Nightshade
08-21-2005, 02:49 PM
What I term as screammy bashy music---Heavy metal because it hurts my ears and I cant understand what they are saying and I cant sing along or dance along to it!

PBM Same Q

AimusSage
08-21-2005, 02:52 PM
Rap, Hiphop, because it is painfull to hear people just saying words, without even using a real instrument, just taking samples of other peoples work. I prefer music with actual instruments. Like Metal :p

PBM, What is your favourite film, and why?

adilyoussef
08-21-2005, 07:28 PM
Lords of Rings. For the 'why' I have no idea. Maybe because of the science fiction that ot includes.

To the person below me: have you ever made an attempt to write a story? If so, was it a success or not?

tiny explorer
08-21-2005, 09:48 PM
I do write stories my own and I find it good for me but it's for my closet only. So, I don't find it really succesful.....I think none could appreciate it.

Who do you think will win the battle of the sexes?F...M....?

Taliesin
08-22-2005, 08:42 AM
Er, we think that if one loses, the other one loses too. There is no win-lose scenario, only lose-lose or win-win ones.

PBU: Have you ever created fictionary characters? If yes, then which one of them is your favourite?

Adelheid
08-22-2005, 09:05 AM
Hmmm.... it must be Sylvia Grey... a blonde slim American girl in her teens, who's a twin ophan with her older sister Elizabeth. She has a wonderful voice, which can arrest anybody's attention with any word.

PBM: What do you think holds for you or any other person after death? Does being a 'good' person matter greatly?

mono
08-22-2005, 10:20 AM
I remain such a skeptic with questions like these, questioning myself what comes after death, if anything. Yes, however, I do believe one's actions during life determine what happens next, as determined by some higher Being, whether judgment to heaven, hell, purgatory, or reincarnation occurs, but, as I mentioned, I claim skepticism regarding everything concerning the subject.

To the person below me: have you ever encountered what you would consider a miracle, and, if so, what happened?

Nightshade
08-22-2005, 12:42 PM
When I was 5 I saw an Angel. At least I belive I saw an Angel everyone else sasy it must have been a pigeon but I maintain that as children can see angels when they are babies I was allowed to see one then.

PBM do you think Im insane???

adilyoussef
08-22-2005, 07:50 PM
Insanity, as one of my teatchers have told us in class in a course of drama, begins with the lost of the meaning of space and time. As i can see, you know where you are, how old were you when it hapned and what you are doing right now. So for me you are not.

To the person below me: what is you definition of insanity?

Ancestor
08-22-2005, 10:00 PM
Someone whom stares blankly into yours and you see the vast nothingness which reflexs from their eyes. Nothing recognizable is left within the shell of their body and you scream out in grief. :(

Person below me: Would you kill the man whom raped child? I would not know myself but I would diffenently be insane afterwards.

tiny explorer
08-22-2005, 10:40 PM
 Definitely YES!Those kind of people has no place here nor in heaven!right?hahaha...... :flare:

PBM: What if I don't ask question now....will the game still go on?hick!.... :alien:

Ancestor
08-23-2005, 12:36 AM
Nope, it shall live on forever.

Person below me: Would you like to be immortal and if so why?

Nightshade
08-23-2005, 04:45 AM
No dont think so it would get boring after a while life that is

PBM same Q
Would you like to be immortal and if so why?

AimusSage
08-23-2005, 01:43 PM
No, with immortality comes the knowledge that you will see everything and everyone you hold dear pass away. It's more of a curse the way I see it.

PBM: Would you favour long term or short term succes with improvement in the environment?

Nightshade
08-23-2005, 01:59 PM
errrum both together but more importantly long term i guess

PBM how do you know if water is really wet?

Ancestor
08-23-2005, 05:38 PM
Because when I step into the shower I need a towel to dry off.

Person below me: Do you believe that animals have a intelligence? Because sometimes I wonder if I do.

mono
08-23-2005, 08:33 PM
I think it really depends on one's definition of intelligence, but, yes, I do believe many animals have abilities of thinking, memory, adaption, and learning, though often not as advanced as humans (with a few exceptions of people I know :D).

To the person below me: do you think you would enjoy fame during your whole lifetime?

Adelheid
08-24-2005, 03:10 AM
I guess it would depend on the type of fame... fame as an actress or movie star? no.

PBM: Which do you do: Eat what you would like to eat, or, Eat what you know is good for you, but is not your favourite? Why?

Loki
08-24-2005, 04:09 AM
You remind me of Socrates: "Most men live to eat. I eat to live." (misquote, let me apologise for my bad memory...and if it wasn't Socrates then I'll kill myself)

Probably a balance of both, Adelheid. Eat what you know is good for you on most occasions, but every now and then, eat something that tastes delicious but is not healthy. The ultimate is to like what is good for you. :D There are some foods that taste great and are great as well...

To the person below me: What do you fear most? E.g. spiders/snakes/cockroaches/heights/mice/lice/exams? :brow:

Adelheid
08-24-2005, 04:13 AM
None of those. I fear sharks. :D They are gruelsome creatures of the sea who show no mercy.

Do you fear the unknown? Or do you usually shrug it off, and wait for it to become known first?

Loki
08-24-2005, 04:19 AM
None of those. I fear sharks. They are gruelsome creatures of the sea who show no mercy.

I see an Australian speaking. :D Pity you live in a country with no ocean bordering...else you could swim with one. With grey nurse sharks, in fact, in the Sydney Aquarium.

Honestly, shark attacks are very rare. People eat more sharks than sharks eat people...the grey nurse shark (harmless) has been hunted almost to extinction by humans...it's now the first shark species on the endangered species list...you may be thinking of the shark attack in Adelaide we had...was it last year? on the 18-yr old guy? Well that was horrific but still rare.

Snakes and things are more common.
In Australia at least. :p

What about donkeys? I have it on good authority that more people are killed by donkeys than are killed in air crashes...

Do you fear the unknown? Or do you usually shrug it off, and wait for it to become known first?

Shrug it off, mostly. There's not much point fearing the unknown when you don't know what it is. :brow:

To the person below me: How do you define "truth", if indeed you believe there is such a thing...

Adelheid
08-24-2005, 04:28 AM
Well, well, it's a relief to hear that the Sharks are becoming extinct. It's a pity though, that they are still populated enough for one to meet ifyou have a cut in the Ocean :D

Truth? The Bible is Truth. Every single word of it. Since God is truth, everything He speaks is therefore Truth.

What do you believe in?

Loki
08-24-2005, 04:31 AM
I believe in the equality of all things,
I believe in the unimportance of human life,
I believe in no religion being superior.

For those who don't know, it's called atheism. :p

PBM: I thought God was Love?
Or is Love Truth?
And Truth Love?

Adelheid
08-24-2005, 04:52 AM
There are many names to God, and those you listed are but a few of them. He is love, yes, and Truth, as well as Mercy, Justice, Compassionate. Above all, He is the same. Yesterday, Today and Forever. What you saw Him capable of yesterday, he is more than capable of today, and in the future.

PBM: Don't you think anything you believe in is considered religion? Otherwise, what IS religion in your opinion?

Loki
08-24-2005, 04:57 AM
Good question. I usually think of religion as

Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe.

though

A set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader.

and

A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion.

are also religion.

In which case, Shakespeare is my bible. :p

As Dyrwen would say, I can believe I can fly...
...but that belief in itself is not a religion unless I worship it...
..worship my imaginary wings...
...I could worship my imagination...
...but would that be religion?

PBM: Do you like throwing pebbles on water?

Nightshade
08-24-2005, 05:38 AM
Yes I love doing it I cant get them to skip though.

What about donkeys?

horrible creatures I once lost a toe nail because one stood on my toe.

PBM What do you think of fate?

Miss Darcy
08-24-2005, 05:46 AM
Fate...I have a strong sense of fate...and make no mistake, I don't mean there's some guy up there who directs human life like traffic, I simply feel that things are the way they're meant to be, somehow. Everything bad leads to something good or at least has a "reason"...

PBM: Same question.

Nightshade
08-24-2005, 05:50 AM
Actually I have the same opinion . Fate Good and fate Evil in that everything happens for a reason or as a test and although you cant change fate (the cirrcumstances(is that spelt right??) you do shape your own destinyy/path/life by the choices you make

PBM Same Q this is interesting

adilyoussef
08-24-2005, 08:58 AM
Yah I believe in fate. Some people say tha they are in controle of theirlives and can shape their desteny. But not for sure. We are not in total controle of ourlives and there is not a total controle over them also. There are choices that we are faced to make; and the decision is totaly ours. Fate interfere when evrything is out of controle.

...uh! I like the subject.Same Q

mono
08-24-2005, 04:23 PM
Hmmm, fate, interesting question. I believe in fate to a limit. Does everything, the history of the world, seem written in a book somewhere? No. Many things happen for a reason, I do not believe in coincidences, and every event does have some sort of significance that we cannot change; even an attempt of changing it would seem significant. Personally, I believe more in autonomy than fate/destiny; the future does exist, and perhaps already underwent any type of formation by some questionable higher Being, but fate seems much more idea-based in the human psyche than actual (to me).

To the person below me: same question --

PBM What do you think of fate?

Adelheid
08-25-2005, 03:48 AM
I don't believe in Fate. If you mean purpose, yes, I do, but not fate. You have a choice to make through your life. You can't live it all to fate. One would be throwing away all the responsibilities of life if you believed that fate caused you to do something, whether good or evil.

What is your image of an ideal spouse?

mono
08-25-2005, 12:48 PM
An ideal spouse? Hmmm, interesting question. An ideal spouse sounds slightly utopian, as even seemingly petty faults seem to bring good. A few adjectives/descriptions that describe a semi-ideal spouse: intelligent, wise, health-conscious, attractive, modest, not afraid of her faults, unique, artistic (in some way), sarcastic, adventurous, and casual.

To the person below me: same question. ;)

AimusSage
08-25-2005, 01:26 PM
I have to agree with mono, the ideal spouse would be, for me, very close to what he has described. Except the sarcasm, replace that with a healty dose of humor, and all will be fine.

PBM, so what is love to you?

Ancestor
08-25-2005, 07:11 PM
Love to me is when you can see beyond what your eyes show you. When no one hits, verbally, or sexually abuses you. When you still hold hands after 63 1/2 years of marriage that is love to me.

Do you believe in love at first sight?

Loki
08-25-2005, 11:02 PM
I'm not sure...

Same question.

Adelheid
08-26-2005, 03:17 AM
I don't think so.... at least I'm not very sure if that is such a thing.... you may fall in love with the LOOKS of a person, but until you get to KNOW the person, you can't fall in love with HIM/HER cause you don't even know her/him!!!

Do you think you would be able to tell a hypocrite (or someone who leads a double life) if you could ask him/her one question? What question would it be if you could?

Nightshade
08-26-2005, 03:58 AM
Not really although the question I would ask is "Do you always tell the truth?" if they say yes they are lying and thhus not a hypocrite by your defintion but one by mine.

What do youy do when you loose your temper? Do you know anygood ways of anger mangement?

AimusSage
08-26-2005, 02:31 PM
When I really loose my temper I tend to snap a few pencils. Then run a few miles to cool down. Taking time to change clothes, that is what the pencils are for.

I am known to really lash out at people who severely anger me. But it is very rare for me to be so angry with someone, as I usually don't care. More often I get angry with myself.

What makes you really angry?

NNoah3
08-26-2005, 04:19 PM
I don't get angry easily, but what really makes me angry is when I find out that someone (which I care about) is lying to me.

How do you think you would react if you were a passenger on a hijacked airplane?

mono
08-26-2005, 10:45 PM
Besides feeling incredibly shocked and frightened, I would try to find some contact with ground below (cell phone, laptop computer, CB radio) to evacuate any areas in our way, in case of a crash, but I would not try to crash the plane intentionally, as others did on a tragic day within recent years.

To the person below me: do you ever gamble or bet?

Nightshade
08-27-2005, 12:52 AM
No I am morally and religously opposed + I cant seen the point!

Momo
I would try to find some contact with ground below (cell phone, laptop computer, CB radio It has always struck me that this agrivates the situation I mean your not supposed to use that kind of thing in an aeroplane for a reason that being that it could cause it to crash. So doesnt that make it worse???

PBM: Have you ever baked biscuits/cookies??If you have do you know any good receipies??

adilyoussef
08-27-2005, 12:22 PM

To the person below me: have you ever wanted to kill somebody in your life?

No, I haven't.

Have you ever divulged a friend's secret?

yes, just because they did to me.

What thing,if anything do you hate the most?

Don't think so.

Do you think you would be able to tell a hypocrite (or someone who leads a double life) if you could ask him/her one question? What question would it be if you could?

No implications, I hope... :p

To the PBM: do you believe in infinity (infinite spacetime...we know the universe had a "beginning" so the "time" part would have to stop somewhere), or are you one of the "boundless" types. I suppose boundless spacetime is more plausible, but I'm more inclined towards the universe is infinite...I mean, this is poor logic, I know, but say you have an egg. Say that's the universe. What's on the outside of that shell? Nothingness...empty space...but scientists have proved that even in vacuum there are "virtual" particles (excuse if it's not virtual, I haven't read any of this stuff for a long time, and I don't study science), so wouldn't that still classify as the universe?

I know it's a weird question to ask, but I'm interested to know what other people think.

I hope I don't kill this thread. :p

Of course not now to the question

This is going to be a very wierd answer so just try to keep up ok? Here it goes. God is infinate right? So if you include God in the universe than yes obiviously it would have to be infinate how can anything less hold infinity? On the other hand God created the universe so Its got to be contained. Maybe infiante to the human sensess but obiviosly not really really Infinate. Have you ever seen the star Treck :next Generation episode that ends with someone saying for all we could all be in a snowglobe on someones table? ssort of like that we think it ges on for ever but it doesnt really.

right I think thats about it.

PBM How do you define "world"?

mono
08-28-2005, 02:41 PM
Good question - really putting me into thinking. I would like to think that the world, according to any living thing, one could define as its origin, as it seems correct to say, whether one believes in evolution or creation - the origin, thriving center, and home.
Now, if only, we could establish peace on this thriving center.

To the person below me: if you could re-experience any of your lifetime events, what would you choose, and why?

PAM: You didnt answer Bongs question!

How long is a piece of string? I never could se waht is so vauge about this question its as long as it was cut to be.

How much has changed over the summer? Umm in my life or in the world generally?
My Life: My cats are bigger, I Discovered I have a Third cousin who is a fire juggler, I got my Alevels back , oh and I "discovered" snorkling, other than that not much
The world generally: more terrorist attacks, Israil pulled out of the Gaza strip, There is a Massive hurracaine about to hit the US

Quite a few. I mean, once it's on there's no point in turning it off really, even if you have to go to work or whatever. Besides, consumption of electricity stimulates the economy.

Do you think the question "how long is a piece of string?" is a valid response to questions concerning quantity?

To the person below me: this pertains to another question I asked in another thread, but while feeling ill, do you usually use Eastern (herbs, acupuncture, chiropractic care, reiki, yoga, tai chi) or Western (antibiotics, prescriptions, surgery) medicines and practice?

Taliesin
08-29-2005, 03:34 PM
Herbs are Eastern? Funny thing, we have always thought of herbs as, well, universal.
We usually use some pills (usually painkillers) and herb teas. Though when we are more badly sick, we use antibiotics and stuff like that too or what the doctor tells us to.

What is the reason of you not accepting Jesus as your Saviour if you haven't? (if you have, why did you?)

Loki
08-30-2005, 04:44 AM
:p :p :p Well I think the first reason is that I was brought up atheist (environment has a huge impact on people); second, I could just as well accept any other in the world and I'd do it more readily too (especially Eastern religions that border on philosophy/Eastern philosophy or mysticism); third, why put inherent faith in one book?...fourth, there's truckloads of evidence the world wasn't created in six days, the world isn't flat, insects don't have four legs in general ( ), pi does NOT equal three as the Bible pretends, other contradictions like the Bible ordering us to kill such-and-such (I picked a random page in the Holy Book in a bookshop and I landed on exactly that); plus fossil records and radiometric dating etc...why would God choose our particular planet to bless with life? there are plenty of others in the universe, I seriously doubt any infinite being would lavish so much on such a small world (it's a DOT (http://www.planetary.org/html/society/advisors/sagandot.html)); and plenty more logical reasons (I mean, for God's sake, how could an all-loving god send ANYONE to a hell such as is depicted in the Bible? If any of us were born into a pirate family, there would be a humungous chance we'd grow up to be pirates ourselves...it's not like morally bad people are really "bad", they're usually very miserable sort of people and they can't help it, they've just grown up to be like that)...I think that should be enough. It *is* the Games subforum, after all, not Religious Texts. :D

PBM: Same question. ;)

Well I do believe in Jesus but in a different way as I'm not a christian. Jesus for me is but a human being who had a mission on earth like many others. This is my point of view as it's of my religion. I do love christ but differently.

Fear itself, imagination (for better or worse), and water.

To the person below me: if you could edit or invent any word in English (guaranteed to have it in every dictionary and thesaurus), what word would you choose/invent, and what would it mean?

adilyoussef
08-30-2005, 07:50 PM
Good question man. I like it although it's difficulte to be answered. Words are used for comunication and expressing our thoughts. I like them as they are and use them the way they are. So I won't eddit any. But I always wonder how to describe an emotion that is a mixture of love and hatred; when the person is no more in controle of his/her emotions, and is divided by two feelings and don't know the reality of his/her being.

Sory man I'v found it too difficult to answer your question. Better leave it as it is than invent a stupide word. I'm not due for that. But I like your question.

I have always thought it would seem interesting to discover some new species (plant, animal, or otherwise), anatomical part, or new land and immortalize my last name, or something, but that seems more of a name than actual word.
As an amateur poet (writing mostly in rhyme), I think it would seem interesting to invent a word that rhymes with words that have no rhyme (like "silver" or "orange," for example), and make it mean something unimaginable, like the subjectivism of "perceiving" infinity in something small (my credit to William Blake).
For another note, I would entirely eliminate the words "ain't" and "gonna." :D

What is the most pleasant think you'v done in your life?

The most pleasant thing that I have done in my life was to be by the side of my late Grandfather. I took care of him during the time he was dying and I know that it may not sound like a pleasant thing but it was. You see he never stopped smiling until two days prior to his death and his smile gave me the courage to let him go. Letting go of someone is a gift I gave him because he did not worry about me being okay.

Would you consider death of someone who is in pain and terimal to be a blessing?

Waw! That would make of you a real mature person. This is not only a hard experience that you have gone through but really an istructive one. Sory for your grandfather Ancestor.

Yes of course. I'v suffered pain sufficiently to know what is to hope for death in despair. Fortunately I recovered and I'm up again. That's what I hope at least. May God heip those who suffer from painful and incurable illnesses. It's a blessing for sure.

What's your point of view on euthanasia?

Adelheid
09-05-2005, 12:59 AM
I believe that euthanasia is wrong. You cannot take the life of someone, no matter what the reason is. God may be doing a work in the person's life, whether of punishment or a sickness unto the Glory of God. Killing someone- whatever word you use is still murder. No I believe that murder is a sin, and wrong in the eyes of God.

I too believe that taking any life is wrong but I cannot say now that I would not do it. I watched my Grandfather die from cancer and even though he died ten days after diagnoses he suffered those last few day and I prayed for his death. To some that may sound cold but letting him suffer in pain is just as cold. I could not what I would do now knowing what he went through and his death to us was a blessing.

It is wrong to let someone suffer and it is wrong to take a life so what would you do? Would you consider it selfish to let that person suffer?

Unfortunately, I have not yet read any novels by James Joyce, but only his short stories. I really want to read some of his novels, like A Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Man, Finnegan's Wake, and Ulysses, but have not yet found time to read them. I can honestly find Joyce's short stories and essays, however, absolutely fascinating!

To the person below me: adilyoussef had a good question regarding euthanasia (now usually called "physician-assisted suicide" or "PAS," in medical terminology). Without pertaining too much to politics, of course, what do you think of more liberal medical practices, like PAS, medical marijuana, and unnecessary life-sustaining treatment?

Adelheid
09-07-2005, 04:16 AM
I don't think killing anyone like that is right. After all, God commanded us not to kill. He didn't specify whether or not to kill those who are in pain, etc.

What is your definition of classical?

adilyoussef
09-07-2005, 07:20 PM
Classical for me is everything remote in the past. Fasination and mistery are involved in it though. Classical life classical music and art always fascinate me. I love everything classical. Classical is a term used to difine whatever belongs to a traditional style or a set of ideas but, for me, is whatever belongs to a decade that I really love being in.

Are you afraid of death or not? Say why if possible.

I would like to think that I do not fear death, but, if during the circumstances, I have no doubt I would feel somewhat fearful. It seems that I do not fear death nearly as much as suffering a painful death; otherwise, the dark thought of passing on to whatever awaits me sounds strangely interesting.

To the person below me: I will repeat Loki's question, a few posts ago --

Where do you see yourself in ten years?

adilyoussef
09-08-2005, 08:14 PM

Same Q

mono
09-10-2005, 02:59 AM
Who else do I know better or worse than myself? A self-perspective cannot quite seem objectively more or less accurate than another's perspective, but I suppose I carry a fair opinion of myself, for better or worse. I know my weaknesses and faults, what can and cannot get changed about them, my strengths and better traits, and what can and cannot get changed about them, too. Regardless, I try not to focus a lot on my opinion of myself, nor of others' opinions of me (for better or worse); judgments of one's self and others seem not as important as how you affect yourself, how others affect you, and how you affect others.

Do you consider suicide to ever be justifiable???

mono
09-18-2005, 07:00 PM
Good question. I would say yes, for my own reasons. Any person, I believe, has every right of making his/her own autonomous decisions, especially if he/she seems in a sane state of mind, though I would regret of what any family and friends would think afterwards. If someone has undergone an overwhelming amount of suffering, according to that person, then, yes, I think it always justifiable.

Same question (very, very good one, Nightshade).

Monica
09-22-2005, 12:20 PM
I don't know if it's justifiable but I think that somebody who commits suicide has to be very, very desperate and that they are more afraid of life than of death. And that's scary. I don't think we should judge them but rather sympathize with them.

She gave me purpose and made me feel needed, like I was the only person in the world for her. I grew up not feeling loved and probably hated for various reasons so my daughter is a chance for me to make up for my past and do something right. Everyone I know (including some of you) always comment on me being a good mom and to me that defines me and that is who I am (thats who I want to be too). Also graduating high school and getting into college because I am the first person in my family to do either.

To claim that "majority is authority," which I have heard many times, I have also questioned within myself, but I have also heard a quote (I do not remember the precise words), that those of the majority's opinion deserve less thought into their actions than the minority's opinion. Do "majority" and "authority" seem at least somewhat synonymous? Yes. Does "majority" and "authority" often involve both justice and injustice? Yes, but I would like to think that justice will always overcome.

HA, I'm a seething cauldron of fury. Actually I have a problem where I can't stay anger very long - it bugs me sometimes. I'll be all kinds of mad for about 10 minutes then blamo - nothing.

Frustration is a different matter, I've been frustrated at my current job since I got here (6 months) - I started exercising a lot more (swimming and running) and I had a few more cocktails then I normally do (probably not the best way). Oh and I'd call friends and complain to them a lot.

Same question.

Cope who said I coped??
Depending what level of angry and fustrated I am I either eat, throwup or become hysterical... not a pretty picture is it?
No actually the problem is I become hysterical whenevr i saqtrt to cry because I have this problem where I can always see the funny side and end up laughing without stopping crrying ( and there is somthing wrong with the grammer in that I know.)
hummm what else well Oh somtimes I go mad and decide to "clean" which thankfully is a rare occurance as it usually involves throwing out most of my stuff away (usually i find out later there was a good reason i was keeping that stuff) Or I bake thats actually prehaps the best way.
If im mad at someone and they are within range i start to humm nursery ryhmes .. if im really mad it will be Little Tommy Tucker

It really depends on what, who, or how someone or something frustrates or angers me. My responses will range from crying, writing, walking, to repression (ignoring, "cold shoulder"), but never without attempting some kind of solution.

Not sure what kind of conflict (political or otherwise) you're refering to but anyway...
I'm a pacifist so I'll say dialogue, not violence... (though diplomacy does take longer !) . It works to the advantage of both sides in the long run.

My avatar is of the a stairway among ruins of an Irish monastery. It represents my continued plight to seek a higher understanding. If you notice, you cannot see the top of the stairway, and I think you never will.
