This morning, after waking, when finding Psyche already awake, cuddling close to me, waiting for me to rise, then telling each other our night's dreams. ;)

To the person below me: same question (good one, amuse).

Jay

Not yet as far as I can remember/tell

same question (having the feeling this one's going to stay for a little while :D)

Last weekend, when I was able to spend a little time with a friend I dont frequently see

Funny, when I was cutting cheese (literally) with a guy I had the hots for.

Are you planning to see the new star Wars movie?

Émilie
05-19-2005, 03:57 PM
I don't think so even if I might be interested, I have not seen the previous ones. I know kind of sad.

same question

Molko

Yeah, I think I will.

Same question.

List in order which of the following you'd rather have: headache, stomachache, toothache, sore lips, sore throat.

Let's assume for each it's a worst-case scenario.

Jay
05-20-2005, 07:22 PM
sore lips, headache, stomachache, sore throat, toothache

the 80s or the 70s? (music kinda)
whoops, not this or that thread... hmmmm... fave 'age' of music? as in... the 50s... very contemporary... very confusing, I know

Bongitybongbong
05-20-2005, 08:41 PM
Probably the 70's or Hair Bands of the 80's

Do you have a crap load of pollen where you live?(pollen=bad)

Molko
05-20-2005, 11:25 PM
yes, unfortunately. Im badly allergic to it.

To the person below me: what's your opinion of modern music? (e.g. R&B, Hip Hop etc)

Bongitybongbong
05-21-2005, 09:28 AM
very very bad....

Have you ever done the sport "Cross Country"?

Molko
05-21-2005, 10:36 AM
Yep, it was compulsory during school. I hated it! lol *shakes fist*

To the person below me: whilst growing up, what sports were compulsory during primary school and high school?

mono
05-21-2005, 05:17 PM
Baseball, basketball, long-distance jogging, short-distance sprinting, and dancing (if you consider it a sport in physical education) only come to mind.

To the person below me: what season do you enjoy most, and why?

Monica
05-22-2005, 11:27 AM
Summer. "In summer I can taste the salt of the sea..." :D It's warm, there's no school, I can do what I want to (almost)... Et in Arcadia ego :brow:

what's the difference between Pepsi and Coke (apart from the name)?

papayahed
05-22-2005, 11:33 AM
Someone told me that one uses lemon extract and the other uses orange extract, but I don't know how factual that is.

When's the last time you used a typewriter?

mono
05-22-2005, 03:14 PM
Years ago, in early highschool, when my family's computer would not work, and I had a paper to type, so I used my mother's nostalgic, ancient-looking typewriter. The paper took some time to write, due to the keys feeling so stubborn.

To the person below me: same question.

Rachy
05-22-2005, 04:03 PM
When my grandad died and we got his typewriter for memories, about six years ago!

How old were you when you first fell in love?

Koa
05-22-2005, 05:26 PM
I don't think I've ever really fell in love... IF it was love, then I was 20, but i hope love is something better than that.............

Q: do you sleep with teddybears? If not, when did you stop? ;) :D

Helga
05-22-2005, 06:08 PM
I stopped sleeping with teddies when I was 15 and got Spock, he didn't want to share our bed with the 15 teddybears I had. They are in a bag under my bed...

below:same Q?

ajoe
05-22-2005, 11:26 PM
'_' ... I never had a teddy bear. I did try to sleep with one doll I had, but I was a really messy sleeper and when I woke up he was lying on the floor. I wasn't attached to my dolls in that way anyway. (I used them mainly to act the bizarre plays I created. :p)

Why do you think some people can be so superficial? (At the moment I have in mind girls who scream, "omgz orlando bloom and brad pitt are hott!!")

Molko
05-23-2005, 04:56 AM
I think that some people are superficial because they havent had time (or maybe dont want) to mature. They only see life on a face value, rather than evaluating the important things.

To the person below me: same question

Jay
05-23-2005, 11:27 AM
Have you never just looked at someone and went 'omg, s/he's so hot!'? Though I think what most teenage girls do is downright silly and kind of... well, really annoying and disgusting.

Do you listen to music/news/whatever while reading? If so, what do you prefer for background 'noise'?

mono
05-23-2005, 01:52 PM
I can tolerate almost any kind of background while reading, unless it requires my full attention (such as reading in-depth philosophy, poetry, or school textbooks). I usually do enjoy some background music, however, usually classical, such as by Antonio Vivaldi, Frederic Chopin, Richard Wagner, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, or Edvard Grieg, to name a few.

To the person below me: same question. :)

ajoe
05-23-2005, 06:44 PM
Not really. I tend to pay attention more to the music than to what I'm reading, so unless I'm reading a magazine or a comic book, I usually have the music off.

Describe your thumb and be vivid.

Molko
05-24-2005, 04:16 AM
Well, my thumb is small and slender. It's a very petite thumb. The nail is long and filed; well manicured. Umm....I cant really write much more about my thumb :(

To the person below me: Do you have a particular routine you stick to each morning? If so, do you get annoyed if your routine is disrupted?

Helga
05-24-2005, 07:21 AM
I want to have a routine to follow everyday but I don't have one in the morning. But if any of my routines are interrupted I get really confused and take a few moments to get my head together...

below: have you read :The Colour Purple, if so did you like it and if not then why not?

mono
05-24-2005, 04:26 PM
I have not read it yet, but I have heard wonderful things; regardless, I loved the movie. I have heard great things about all of Alice Walker's works, of which I have not read, but I suppose I look more into her mentor (practically), Zora Neale Hurston.

To the person below me: have you ever fainted, if so, under what circumstances?

Émilie
05-24-2005, 04:43 PM
Yes, once, when my sister cut herself and was bleeding. She fainted, then my dad did and I did. It was pretty freaky...

same question...

amuse
05-24-2005, 06:47 PM
no, but i've passed out a couple of times. nothing romantic and silly (i.e. swooning over some swain).

have you ever rescued a hapless small animal?

mono
05-24-2005, 07:23 PM
Yes, about a year ago, while living near a housing development under construction, my roommates and I heard a loud, continuous, crying meow. We searched for nearly two hours, until we found a kitten trapped in one of the heater vents of a house under construction; sadly, due to it having metal walls, the kitten could not jump out. The vet estimated her at about two to three weeks old, so my roommates and I bottle-fed her for about a month. Now she belongs to one of our friends, has gained much weight, and lives happy.

To the person below me: same question.

Helga
05-24-2005, 08:34 PM
Bees, all the time, a pidgin once. But when I was 3 years old I was at a farm with my parents and we saw a dead bird stuck in a window, my mom told me that I cried and demanded we would bury him before we went back home..

have you seen all six Star wars movies?

Émilie
05-24-2005, 09:31 PM
no, none actually

same question

mono
05-24-2005, 11:01 PM
Yes, the first one.

To the person below me: what book (fiction or non-fiction) has brought out the biggest reaction out of you (positive or negative)?

Molko
05-25-2005, 05:42 AM
Hmmmm......It would be a toss between the Brothers Karamazov and Brave New World :) Both in a positive way

To the person below me: Have you heard of a band called the Mars Volta? :p

Jay
05-25-2005, 08:57 AM
That would be a no. They any good?

Are you in love?

kilted exile
05-25-2005, 09:02 AM
Nope (not even completely sure what love is)

What are you proud of doing over the last week?

Molko
05-25-2005, 10:11 AM
That would be a no. They any good?

I think they're an excellent band; but to each is their own taste :p

Im quite proud of the fact that I was able to finish all my assignments as well as study for a calculus test

To the person below me: which do you find more memorable: sad or happy memories?

Jay
05-25-2005, 10:18 AM
In time they all fade no matter how happy or sad they were.

Assuming you own a cell phone, would you be able to spend a month without using it?

Molko
05-25-2005, 10:19 AM
Yes, and I know this from experience!

If you were washed away on an island and could only have one thing with you, what would it be? And why?

Jay
05-25-2005, 10:23 AM
A fully furnished house, everything included (understand a reasonably good comp with net connection :p)

same question

Molko
05-25-2005, 10:26 AM
That's a good one Jay! At the moment, I cannot think of anything clever so I'd probably just bring along water....:p

If you could live during any era, what would it be and why? (e.g ancient rome, during the time of christ, the 70's etc)

Jay
05-25-2005, 10:28 AM
I think this one was asked before, anyways, my reply is still the same: anytime they had/have/will have horses around :p (and comps with net connection as well of course ;))

*edit* forgot to ask... and originality is getting the better out of me: same question :D

Molko
05-25-2005, 10:34 AM
I would love to live during the early (or is it late???) 19th century *contemplates if that is the right century* when many scientific revolutions were made...Einstein's theory of relativety, atomic structure, structure of DNA......etc.....

Would you travel through a black hole to see what was on the other end, knowing that there is a strong chance of you dying during the process?

Jay
05-25-2005, 10:38 AM
If you're thinking Stargate, sure, if you're thinking that that bit about 'huge gravitation field would probably tear you into tiny smidgens', nope, thanks :D

Ever wanted to met someone from Atlantis? (not the Stargate kinda...all these nasty aliens running around :D)

Molko
05-25-2005, 10:41 AM
hehehe, yes if the person was interesting enough...

If you could uncover any mystery of the universe, what would it be?

Jay
05-25-2005, 10:46 AM
Not really sure I'd wanted to :)... thought maybe the possibility of inteligent life in the universe

same question

Molko
05-25-2005, 10:48 AM
Hmmmm maybe how the universe was created or why it even exists....

If you could swap brains with anyone (alive or dead) who would it be?

Jay
05-25-2005, 10:51 AM
Depends on for how long I'd keep that brain. I could use some for exams and stuff like that but I kind of got used to mine and the way it works.., or not for the matter :D

Ever wanted to be someone else? If so, whom and why?

Molko
05-25-2005, 10:54 AM
Ive always wanted to be several people, just to experience what their life would be like. Few that pop into mind are Einstein, Aldous Huxley and Sir Issac Newton

If you could have any supernatural ability what would it be and why?

Jay
05-25-2005, 10:58 AM
Any? apparating :p

same question

Molko
05-25-2005, 11:07 AM
The ability to move objects with my mind! Im sooooo lazy :p

If you were forced to eat bugs for survival, would you do it?

Jay
05-25-2005, 11:31 AM
yuck, lol, nope, though if I were half starved I might, lol

same question, lol

amuse
05-25-2005, 01:04 PM
if i had to? maybe i would die first (or die from the horror, not sure).

Jay
05-25-2005, 01:05 PM
Would you prefer your bugs moving or you'd rather them being nicely dead? :D

mono
05-25-2005, 02:44 PM
No question?
Oh well, I will continue from the last one: no, I would not eat bugs. Dignity, for me, extends a little further than that, and I cannot decide if I could still call myself vegetarian.

To the person below me: right now, what surrounds you as you read this?

Nightshade
05-25-2005, 02:59 PM
A pile of Roald Dahl books
Inspector Linley on the TV
Sister studying for exam (What I should be doing!)
Laptop bag

thats about it
Littlest sister is dancing around!

Well, while on spreadable bread-toppers, how does the person below me feel about peanut butter? What's your favorite bread-spread? :)

mono
05-25-2005, 11:46 PM
I actually love peanut butter, so much that as a child, I would eat it plain, slowly, on spoons. As to the second part of your question, I would still have to call extra-crunchy peanut butter my favorite spread. Mmmm! :)

To the person below me: how many times, if any, have you flown in a plane, and did you feel comfortable in the air?

Molko
05-26-2005, 03:19 AM
I have flown numerous times and in all the times I have flown, not once have I ever felt comfortable. I get badly 'air-sick' and cannot stop going to the bathroom

To the person below me: same question

Nightshade
05-26-2005, 04:26 AM
Too many to count and I love it pity Im too short and dont fit the @presentable@ criteria for Air stewardess or Id be flying!!

Monica
05-26-2005, 11:52 AM
No question? I'll answer the previous one. I've flown something like three times and I enjoyed it very much. I especially liked the view of the clouds. They looked like you could touch them. I would like to fly at night to see the stars.

where are you planning to go on holiday?

Scheherazade
05-26-2005, 12:23 PM
I will be adventurous and visit the library in the next town rather than the one we have here.

When was the last time you played hop scotch?

Nightshade
05-26-2005, 01:18 PM
That would be a couple of summers ago now!
If you could be anyone who would you be?

Snukes
05-26-2005, 02:59 PM
I like me a lot! I definitely wouldn't trade. The sorts of people we usually *think* we want to be are definitely not the sorts of people we really want to be, I think. ;) I've learned to deal with myself pretty well by now, so I guess I'll stick with it. (I've got a good life. No question.)

If there's anyone in the world you would NOT want to be, who is it?

Nightshade
05-26-2005, 04:06 PM
err anyone who is a celeb or famous too much pressure!
same question!

mono
05-27-2005, 01:13 AM
After seeing a popular film recently, probably John Malkovich (from Being John Malkovich http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120601/). Nah, honestly, I would have to agree with Nightshade, not wanting to exist as someone really famous, though it seems a typical dream for artists and politicians. :p

To the person below me: do you eat fast food?

Jay
05-27-2005, 01:26 AM
Occasionally

On what occasion did you get a book for a present? (doesn't really have to be a day of any significance as long as you were presented a book :p)

Molko
05-27-2005, 02:56 AM
For my 14th birthday. It was quite a while back.

To the person below me: same question

Nightshade
05-27-2005, 04:38 AM

Snukes

Same question

Sister hitting me with a small bucket thingy with which kids play in the sand, it was winter and we were out with the other kindergarden kids, the bucket was full of ice and she hit me in the forehead (explaining SO much things already, isn't it? :p), and then mum (she was working in the kindergarden then) trying to push the swelling away with a huge honkin knife (remember her saying something about its cool blade and something like that). Wow, popular question.
I must have aged 2 years or younger (since my parents split at just above 2 years of my age). Anyway, late at night, I woke up with a jump from a nightmare, got out of my bed onto the cold floor, and looking at my older brother, sleeping on the top bunk of our bed. I walked quiety out of the room, took a left turn into my parents' room, and stopped at the door, watching them sleep, as I still felt a little dazed. On a shelf to my right sat a small cactus plant, and, remembering my parents always told me to never touch it, curiosity took over, and I touched it, getting poked. I jumped back, and let out a little cry, then cuddled between my parents in their bed, and fell asleep with no more nightmares.

I had a 'teddy dog' I named Garpur, the Icelandic name for the He-man action figure but I lost him while traveling around the country when I was 4. then I got a fox I named Mori when I was six, but I had to give him up among 16 others when I was 15 and got Spock, but I still have them all.

same Q.

mono
05-28-2005, 05:51 PM
I have had a few teddy bears in my life that I prized very much, and still own them, though they now rest in some boxes in my attic for many years now, to avoid the natural wear-and-tear. I still have a quilt, that my great-grandmother gave me weeks after my birth; as a child, I had a bit of a Linus complex (from Charles Schultz's Peanuts), always carrying around the quilt:
http://www.unitedmedia.com/comics/peanuts/fun_and_games/images/linus_march.gif

from http://wvgardengate.homestead.com/files/Oh_Dear_Deer_Diet.htm
"Toxicity is one of the most common reasons deer leave particular plant families unharmed. Examples of this include the ranunculaceae family (native buttercups), aquilegia (columbine) and daffodils."
"These plants are usually left alone for several reasons--they are toxic to wildlife, the aroma of the plant is repulsive, foliage is too fuzzy or plants include prickly parts that make it difficult to eat."
from http://home.adelphia.net/~geffert/food.htm
"Nuts:

These include both red and white acorns, beechnuts and hickory nuts. Acorns are low in protein but high in carbohydrates, the best source of energy. If acorns are plentiful in your area you can bet the deer will be eating them to put on the extra weight that is need to survive the winter. Whitetails prefer the white oak acorn most of all. It has a sweeter taste that the red oak acorn.

Plants:

Non-woody plants are very important to the deer especially during the Fall months. Deer graze on grasses, sedges, and ferns. Plants usually appear after a fire. These areas become very lush and attract large concentrations of deer. Plants also thrive along roads, forest openings, powerlines, and at the edges of fields.

Woody Plants:

Deer turn to woody stems or twigs (called browse) after the leaf fall. Because "browse" is poor in nutrition deer will eat it only if nothing else is available. An example of the woody plants that deer eat are: maples, dogwoods, aspen, blueberry, hemlock, poison ivy, honeysuckle, sumac, poplar and chokecherry.

Mushrooms:

Deer eat the highly nutritious mushroom as a supplement to their diet. Many species that are deadly to man are consumed by deer.

Farm Crops:

Clover, alfalfa, corn, winter wheat, oats, soybeans, peas, sweat potatoes, and apples are only a few of the crops consumed by the deer. These crops are very important to the deer after all acorns are eaten. These may be the only food available to them when winter sets in."

Did you bother to read all this? :D

is it hard for you not to give advice?

mono
05-31-2005, 01:08 PM
On the contrary, I have difficulty giving advice. Receiving advice does not bother me, but only if I ask. I like to think that the answer to any question and the solution to any ethical dilemma resides already in someone's intuition, which requires little advice, unless requested. Most of the time, I attempt helping friends/family/whoever finding the solution within themselves, as cliché as it sounds.

To the person below me: same question.

(Thank you Kilted exile - I will use this knowledge to build a deer unfriendly garden of daffodils.)

It is hard, but I try to keep my mouth shut unless asked. "Hush my mouth and I will give you sugar" my grandmother says.

How do you feel about drinking bottled water?

kilted exile
06-18-2005, 11:44 AM
Ok, there are a lot of myths surrounding bottled water & most of them are nonsense. There are only two reasons to drink bottled water:
1) There has been an advisory put out with regards to the safety of your tap water (from an accreditted source, not just because jimbob said so)
2) Taste preferrence for hard/soft water: eg live in parts of the world where tap water is soft, dink bottled water if you prefer the taste of hard water.
The most stupid kinds of bottled water are Aquafina & Dasani. You can quite easily make these yourself: step 1: boil tap water. step 2: collect steam in another container. step 3: allow to cool. step 4: drink your demineralized water.
Of course this is completely unnecessary if you live in areas of soft water, as your water is already demineralized.
