Yes, definately. I would drill them so they become my own personal army. It's all part of my evil masterplan to take over the world! :D
On a more serious note: While I do not think I will ever have the desire to have children, if by some mishap I do happen to have one, I will encourage him/her to do certain things, like take up sports, or learn to play an instrument. I will not force the matter, and I will not force the child to keep an agenda that is booked full. Free play time is at least as important for the development of a child, especially with other children. Otherwise I would end up with a highly skilled, but socially inept child.

We could talk to each other about anything. Even when we were dating other people in high school, it was to each other we turned when trouble arose. Well, I have nothing against alcohol in moderation, such a wine with meals, but I am a teetotaller out of neccessity. The medications I must take every day, three times a day do not mix well with any sort of alcohol, and would probably be fatal. So I cannot, but I do not say people who do and can control consumtion are wrong. My dad was an alcoholic so bad that he would even drink after-shave, so I've seen the ugly side also. On what basis do you think character should be judged?
emily655321
01-15-2006, 01:19 PM
Wow, good question, Robin.
Forgiveness. Not the "love the sinner, hate the sin" kind, where people just try to sound self-righteous but really feel very superior to the other person. Real forgiveness, when you still feel respect and love for the person who has wronged you. I'm not capable of that yet.
Same question.
IrishCanadian
01-16-2006, 12:55 AM
I don't think that we necessarliy feel superior to the person when we carry the Love the sinner hate the sin concept. But your absoltely right> its sooo dificult not to. I think a charcter could be judged on every basis ... just not always in bad ways ... recall here the concept of removeing the log from your own eye before taking the speck from your neighbours. So its really tough to be true to yourself when you judge someone negatively ... not to say its not easy to do otherwise.
By the way regaurding the music question ... read this if you liked the poetry answere http://www.online-literature.com/byron/698/

Character should be judged on appearances. :goof:

Pendragon
01-23-2006, 09:54 AM
Character is how you would act if you knew no one was watching and you were certain that you could get away with whatever you did. But to judge character, I'm uncertain that I'm qualified. Would my own character stand judgment? Better not go there, I think.
Good question to pass to someone else. So move.
mingdamerciless
02-03-2006, 07:01 AM
oooo that really is difficult. well judging someones character is incredibly difficult. The mistake many people make is judging people on one situation or incident. Everyone has bad days, so you need to know someone before you judge them, but having said that first impressions are very important. For some people i agree with Riesa in that most people cannot hide their true personalities and whoever they are shines through in their eyes and characteristics so appearances are important but it certaintly can't be the only factor. There are too many qualities needed in a good character for me to list here, but basically as long as the good qualities balance out the bad ones, you've got a great person.

hmmm judging someone's character might be a bit of a sticky wicket. You can change your behavior towards people based on past experience. Like for example I have a cousin that doesn't have a problem taking "stuff" - he comes over I hide my good "stuff". Is that judging? I don't think it is. Besides who made me a judge anyways.

Maybe I shouldn't answer, being disabled, and all. But I did work for well over half my life and I would much prefer to do it myself. We had a "group work seminar" and then every thing was group oriented. I got sick of that in a hurry. Why jump the whole group when you have a computer printout that tells exactly who isn't pulling their share of the load? I got fed up with speeches on "It's the group that matters. If they can't do it, someone has to make up for them." No, get rid of them and put somebody in that can do the job! Duh!

Do you prefer an urban or rural lifestyle?
emily655321
02-24-2006, 10:30 AM
Well, the most "urban" lifestyle I've ever lived, I'm living now. My window overlooks a parking lot full of restaurants, and Main Street is about a hundred yards "that way." But the total population is only about 12,000, so I don't know if it really qualifies as "urban." However, before that I spent a year at a tiny college atop a mountain, hardly ever getting into town, seeing only my classmates and professors, and I quite preferred that. My dream house would be a small farmhouse in the middle of nowhere, with a nice herb garden. So, why don't I say "rural"? :)

First let me say that I grew up very poor, and the house in which we lived often had ice freeze on the inside of the walls in winter. There were three kids and my mother, and we all slept in the same bed in wintertime when it was blue cold for warmth. We moved out of that house and three years later it was destroyed in a flood. But somehow, it is still the house of my dreams, yes. I go and stand at the empty lot sometimes and remember. And despite everything, all my dreams involving that house are happy ones. :)

To be perfectly honest I think both thoughts are the truth. It does shake up the world, make a statement, is great fun and commercially successful. On a richter scale I would say it is a 9,5 (oh and Ryan I could never get angry at you. you rock my soul)
Do you think that, given enough time and an unprejudiced heart each one of us could love one another on this forum unconditionally just because we are us and we exist?

No. only because it's too easy to be anonymous on these types of boards.

I am, I fear, a carnivore, much to the dismay of many of you...a plate of veggies or a salad now and again is fine, but I crave meat, beef mostly.... ;)
Do you feel it is healthier eat no meat?
emily655321

To quote Reverend Lovejoy of the Simpsons, "Short answer yes with an if, long answer no with a but."
Vegetarianism is fine as long as you get plenty of alternate sources of protein, like beans and dairy, and even then you have to eat them in the right combinations or your body doesn't absorb the protein (beans with broccoli, or beans with bread, etc.). Still, with a lot of research and attention it can be done, but you run the risk of others not wanting to share the general atmosphere you inhabit. ;)
I think if the only meat you eat is, like, fatty pork and hamburgers, you're in bad shape, too, and it might do you good to cut down on how much of it you eat. But if you eat, say a tuna sandwich for lunch and a small piece of skinless chicken for dinner, meat is very important and healthy for you.
(Can you tell I've done my nutritional homework?)
Do you celebrate St. Patrick's Day?
rachel
03-10-2006, 11:51 PM
Oh absolutely(hi Em, hugs and I miss you)
being raised in a Celtic family, one side Irish and one side Scottish we celebrated both. But unlike many who go out and get drunk in green, we mainly read about his life and have friends over and lots of fun and talk and sharing.and of course we were green.
Do you think makeup is gross or okay to wear?
chmpman
03-11-2006, 02:04 AM
I think done properly makeup is fine and dandy. Although it's also important for a girl to feel comfortable without it. From my experience I see far more women who go overboard with makeup than the opposite. I've never really known too many guys who look at a girl and say that she needs more makeup, but for some girls it does make them look more youthful.

What would be the first thing you'd say to the first person you'll meet in real life from the LIT Net...??

If I have seen their photo, "I am so glad to have finally met you!" If I have no idea how they look, probably. "You don't look a thing like I imagined!" At any road, I'll be glad to see them!
A wonderful question I'm proud to pass on! Go, Willow!

"Hey! It's me! "Robin--hey! Ow! Sto-stop that! That hurts! No, really, it's me! Agh!"
Same question!
emily655321
03-11-2006, 12:59 PM
Haha.
Erm... I guess it would depend on who I'm meeting. I don't pay nearly enough attention to recognize people on the street, so in that scenario I'd probably pass right by you, still staring at the ground. But if a meeting were arranged, the first thing I'd say would probably be, "Oh! Hi. Were you calling my name? Really, for the past five minutes? Oh, wow. Sorry. So, yeah... Hi!" :D
If you were to arrange a meeting with someone from the forum, where would it be and what would it be like?
Pensive
03-11-2006, 01:10 PM
I would arrange it in Neverland. Most probably, no one will accept my invitation to Neverland but if one will, I am sure that he/she would enjoy it a lot.
I will take the member to the "Booksy Paradise" Booksy Paradise is a famous place for entertainment in Neverland. All books-lovers come there at weekends and enjoy reading lots of books. You will find every book in Booksy Paradise.
After it, I would take the member to show him/her "Movie Plaza" It is a very interesting place. There, you will see a lot of large rooms and in each room, there will be a seperate movie. You will be able to choose any of them.
Then I will also show her/him "Pensive Garden" As Pensive (I) will be the most famous writer, I will have a large garden full of beautiful flowers and green trees. It would be a beautiful sight. I will invite the member's favourite singer or band there.
Then I would have a long chat with the member. We will talk about interesting things. We will play games and then we will play cricket and badminton as well.
Wouldn't it be lovely?
Nice Question so the same one!
