Why has the U.S. not gone metric yet?

BienvenuJDC
04-15-2010, 09:58 PM
No one wants to make the effort (it's changing...just slowly)

I suspect that's what Papaya meant, and no I don't.

Satan
04-16-2010, 05:55 PM
Depends on the public and opinions. I don't take nicely to rotten tomatoes or the RAGE! crowd.

Do you believe in violent revolutions?

*Classic*Charm*
04-16-2010, 06:06 PM
That depends on what the subject matter is. I think revolution is far more effective when it's performed in a rational manner.

Do you expect people to take you seriously if you're being irrational?

Satan
04-16-2010, 06:19 PM
Of course not!

Do you pay any heed to what people say about you?

*Classic*Charm*
04-16-2010, 06:24 PM

What is your middle name?

Satan

04-16-2010, 07:18 PM
I believe in equality, not female dominance like the term has come to represent.

If you could be a character from any novel, who would you be and why?

Satan
04-16-2010, 09:52 PM
Bravo!

Not an easy question. Tonight I'll be Vicomte de Valmont. Why? Because of his character's complexities, no hope for his redemption and a tragic end. He often reminds me of Humbert Humbert's cruelty-tragedy.

Same question.

*Classic*Charm*
04-16-2010, 10:03 PM
Hmm...Katarina, Shakespeare's shrew. She's very pleased with myself superficially, but she can't cover up the fact that something's missing.

If you could be with any character from a novel, who would it be and why?

Scheherazade
04-16-2010, 10:19 PM

Summarise your day in one word.

*Classic*Charm*
04-16-2010, 10:21 PM
Satisfying :)

If one of Shakespeare's characters was based on you, who would it be?

Satan
04-16-2010, 10:22 PM
Oops! Net's stallin' on me.

@CC: Definitely not Bronte's Cathy. Unfortunately, I haven't read the book (watched movie) but I'll go with Jo March from Little Women. She epitomizes feminine aspirations and freedom to me.

Iago :D

You're asking interesting questions. The same?

*Classic*Charm*
04-16-2010, 10:27 PM
Good pick! I love Jo March :) If I could be with a character it would have to be John Proctor. As much as he committed the one unforgivable act in my eyes, he's still the epitome of a man. He has integrity and honesty, is vulnerable but proud and strong. Ah, I love him.

Back to my Shakespeare question?

Satan
04-16-2010, 10:32 PM
I answered it already, my dear. Iago. ;)

The same question?

*Classic*Charm*
04-16-2010, 10:36 PM
I kind of already gave that away with the answer to my more general question haha. Katarina :) Though I have to admit, I wish I was more like Portia.

If you were a film character, who would you be?

Satan
04-16-2010, 10:45 PM
The Man With No Name (Clint Eastwood)

Stop giving my hard ones back to me! Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz

If you had to be with a film character, who would it be?

Satan
04-16-2010, 10:56 PM
This one is easy: Isabelle (Eva Green) in The Dreamers.

Your turn?

*Classic*Charm*
04-16-2010, 11:07 PM
Should have guessed ;)

Man, this is hard! I might have to say Jefferson Smith, though I could probably come up with something better later.

Satan
04-16-2010, 11:38 PM
Michael Matijevic or Sebastian Bach if the former is unavailable.

Which writer - living or dead - would you have dinner with?

*Classic*Charm*
04-16-2010, 11:46 PM
Arthur Miller- I need to how how someone who could write with so much depth and passion could be married to someone as superficial as Marilyn Monroe! What a waste!

Same question! (Now it's my turn!)

Satan
04-17-2010, 12:06 AM
Sylvia Plath. I'd love to get into her mind for a day/night.

*Classic*Charm*
04-17-2010, 12:13 AM

If you were being forced to marry a jane Austen character, who would you least want it to be?

Why Jane Austen? Mmmph! Liz Bennet. The only Austen I ever read.

What if Erik the Opera Ghost decided to seduce you?

*Classic*Charm*
04-17-2010, 01:50 AM

He'd be disappointed with my lack of vocal skills.

04-17-2010, 02:14 AM
Nope. Not for the Troubled Jane.

Do you sympathize with Tess?

*Classic*Charm*
04-17-2010, 02:20 AM
I do, because some of her problems could have so easily been solved had she only had a little more faith in herself

Do you sympathize with Angel?

Jazz_
04-17-2010, 02:21 AM
Maybe...

Would you defend a good book if someone started unfairly criticising it?

Satan
04-17-2010, 02:23 AM
@CC: He's a stubborn fool. I pity him for that.

Of course I would! Like a true fanatic. If I had time for that, though.

Do you prefer tea to books or vice versa?

*Classic*Charm*
04-17-2010, 02:24 AM
@Jazz: Of course!!

@Satan: Disgusting, vile piece of rot. I'd use a few choice words but I would be promptly removed from LitNet.

Same question.

Satan
04-17-2010, 02:30 AM
Ouch! 'Twas lovely, aye. ;)

*Classic*Charm*
04-17-2010, 02:34 AM
 What's the next question, sir?

Jazz_
04-17-2010, 02:34 AM
Answer to earlier Q: Definitely books, they provide a much wider range of enjoyment (but I still love tea)

What would you like the next question to be?

*Classic*Charm*
04-17-2010, 02:37 AM
Oh jeez. We're all out of sorts here!

@ Satan: I'll take my books, though they go best in combination with tea...and cats

Next question: Where is your favourite place to read?

Satan
04-17-2010, 02:39 AM
My reading room, desk and bed.

Do you read in toilet?

*Classic*Charm*
04-17-2010, 02:41 AM
A lady never tells.

What novel could you re-read an infinite number of times and never get tired of?

Satan
04-17-2010, 02:46 AM
Middlemarch, 'cause I never end up finishing it. :goof:

The same?

*Classic*Charm*
04-17-2010, 02:49 AM
The Crucible (yeah, I'll mention it a lot). Cry like a child every time. It's stunning.

If you could have any novel made into a film, which would you choose and why?

Satan
04-17-2010, 02:55 AM
Not a novel, but The Divine Comedy.

If you had to watch a movie alone, which one would that be?

*Classic*Charm*
04-17-2010, 02:59 AM
What do you mean had to? I choose to! I find that Casablanca is best done alone.

If you were Ilsa, would you have picked Victor or Rick?

Satan
04-17-2010, 03:06 AM
Both, and then I'd have ménage à trois all over the world.

If you were an actor, would you lose 40lbs for a role?

*Classic*Charm*
04-17-2010, 03:20 AM
 sigh.

That would depend on if I had 40 lbs to lose without becoming emaciated. If I did, sure. If I don't, I really wouldn't want to compromise my health for a job.

If you were an actor, would you shave your head for a role?

Satan
04-17-2010, 03:25 AM
Christiane Bale did just that in The Machinist. "If you were any thinner, you wouldn't exist." Quite fitting a line too.

Yep. I wouldn't befriend skinheads in prison, though. Ed Norton learned it the hard way.

If you had the chance to kill a dozen people for your country, would you do it?

*Classic*Charm*
04-17-2010, 03:28 AM
No. I love my country, but not 12 murders worth.

If you had the chance to kill one person without any fear of consequences, would you?

Satan
04-17-2010, 03:32 AM
An innocent person? Nope. I can't live with something like that on my conscience.

If someone sponsored for a week worth of tour, which country would you land in?

*Classic*Charm*
04-17-2010, 03:35 AM
Italy probably. Florence is calling my name.

If you had to pick a different country to live in, where would it be?

Satan
04-17-2010, 03:41 AM
France. No gold for guessing that.

Are you a Renaissance-girl?

*Classic*Charm*
04-17-2010, 03:45 AM
I don't know

How would you describe a Renaissance-girl?

Satan
04-17-2010, 03:53 AM
I don't know either. A girl that escaped beheading during the French revolution? I kid!

Whose side would you be on if the horses declared war on us?

*Classic*Charm*
04-17-2010, 03:55 AM
OH COME ON!! The horses, obviously. Who else would care for their wounded?

If France decided to take over the world, whose side would you be on?

Satan
04-17-2010, 04:01 AM
Traitor!!!

The winning side. That'd ensure I'd get their women.

Have you watched Avatar yet?

*Classic*Charm*
04-17-2010, 04:04 AM
No I haven't. I suppose I probably should just to see if it lives up to the hype.

Do you prefer older movies or more recent ones?

Satan
04-17-2010, 04:10 AM
Both. If it's a movie, I'll watch it. Only the crappiest ones are binned.

Same?

*Classic*Charm*
04-17-2010, 04:16 AM
I'll watch anything, but my preference is for older movies. Humphrey Bogart, James Stewart, Katharine Hepburn, Ingrid Bergman. They just don't make 'em like they used to.

If you had to marry a Disney Princess (yep, I'm going there), which one would you pick? :D:D

Satan
04-17-2010, 04:19 AM
Err ...Belle, I suppose.

Sounds right?

*Classic*Charm*
04-17-2010, 04:22 AM
Good answer.

Question?

Satan
04-17-2010, 04:25 AM
Sure!

Which fictional animated world would you want to be in?

*Classic*Charm*
04-17-2010, 04:29 AM
I'm not really familiar with fictional animated worlds.

Same?

Satan
04-17-2010, 04:37 AM
How about the world of Wall-E? Sounds nice, no?

Ever barfed after drinking too much?

*Classic*Charm*

I can hold my liquor :D

Ever done something you really regretted after drinking too much?

Satan
04-17-2010, 04:47 AM
Now that's the spirit!

Nothing significant except once: almost escaped a speeding ticket. But I was a naive lad then.

Are you a rebel?

*Classic*Charm*
04-17-2010, 04:51 AM
Really? You find the need to ask that? No, obviously.

Are you perplexed?

Satan
04-17-2010, 05:02 AM
Why would I be?

Should I be?

*Classic*Charm*
04-17-2010, 05:05 AM
Not if you aren't.

How do you feel about birds?

Satan
04-17-2010, 05:11 AM
With or without bees? Makes helluva lot of a difference. Birds are fine. Parrots and owls are the best.

Do you like owls?

*Classic*Charm*
04-17-2010, 05:18 AM
I do like owls, but I like parrots more.

Would you object if I wanted to get a pair of lovebirds?

Satan
04-17-2010, 05:28 AM
Ah, them good-for-nothing-making-love-all-day birds? *sigh* Alright! Just one pair.

Why don't you get a rabbit couple and beat the lovebirds at their own game?

*Classic*Charm*
04-17-2010, 05:37 AM
I don't actually have any intention of mating the birds. They're just to keep each other company.

If you could have any exotic animal as a pet, what would it be?

Satan
04-17-2010, 05:39 AM
A sloth. Not much work.

If King Kong wanted to take you away, would you make a fuss?

Would you change your screen name if you had the option?

Satan
04-17-2010, 05:47 PM
No way! Isn't it the perfect one?

Would you?

*Classic*Charm*
04-17-2010, 06:22 PM
Nope!

If you could change someone else's screen name whose would it be and what would you change it to?

Satan
04-17-2010, 06:36 PM
Creative question. I'd do you a favor by changing yours to Vesper Lynd.

It's only fair that you be given a chance to return it. The same?

*Classic*Charm*
04-17-2010, 06:52 PM
Oh jeeeeeez.

C.K.Dexter Haven ;)

Satan
04-17-2010, 06:58 PM

Casino Royale, no doubt.

Which bond girl do you like the most?

*Classic*Charm*
04-17-2010, 07:48 PM
Why did I bother asking?

Miranda Frost, from Die Another Day (even though that was one of the weakest Bond films)

Which Bond villain would you least like to go up against?

Satan
04-17-2010, 08:10 PM
At least you didn't go for Dr Jones. Ugh!

Dominic Greene (QoS): one of the weakest bond villains ever. And Bond doesn't waste his talent on pansies.

Who's your favorite Bond?

BienvenuJDC
04-17-2010, 08:52 PM
Sean Connery

Who is your favorite actor/actress of the 1980s?

Would you rather watch Star Wars or Indiana Jones?

BienvenuJDC
04-17-2010, 09:06 PM
Indiana Jones and the Jedi Master (ooooh, that would be a cool film)
