The Comedian
04-10-2010, 09:26 PM
Sunny and cool; the snow melted early this year, which is both good (for the temperament) and bad (for the vegetation). We could use some more precipitation.

If I were to read either Pride and Prejudice or Jane Eyre this summer (but not both, dear Gawd, I couldn't take it), which would you recommend? I've haven't read either.

Pride and Prejudice. You might actually enjoy it, it's very clever.

Have you read any Austen or Bronte before?

The Comedian
04-10-2010, 09:34 PM
Yep. I've read Villette (Bronte), Wuthering Heights (E. Bronte), and Emma (Austen). But I was younger then and probably not of the right mind for reading those authors and appreciating them.

I remember reading Emma and thinking: "Who is Knightly again? And why does/doesn't she like him? I'm totally lost. Does the other chick like him or not? Why does Emma. . . . what this other girl (whose name I can't remember. . .aw Christ! Who gives a damn anyway! If either of these chicks could talk straight they'd have this issue settled in two pages. . ."

But all ^ was 19/20 year old me thinkin'
