Scheherazade
04-24-2009, 08:29 AM
Yesterday.

When was the last time you were yelled at?

PoeticPassions
04-24-2009, 08:47 AM
usually I do the yelling. Can't remember.

What was the last embarrassing thing you did (or thing that has happened to you)?

The Comedian
04-24-2009, 08:56 AM
I tripped going up the stairs while I was wearing my extra cool, "I'm-an-awesome English-professor" sport coat.

Do sport coats make English professors look extra English professor-y?

Scheherazade
04-24-2009, 08:59 AM
What is a sportcoat? :p

Shall I start reading The Stone Diaries?

PoeticPassions
04-24-2009, 09:11 AM
sure, why not?

Why are we angry a lot of the time?

ok that should have been in the stupid questions thread... rephrase to: when was the las time you were really angry?

motherhubbard
04-24-2009, 09:38 AM
Three days ago I listened to this report http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=103215199 and I'm still mad about it. I think I would end up arrested if this happened to one of my kids.

What would you do if the school strip searched your child?

BienvenuJDC
04-24-2009, 10:32 AM
I would investigate the "probable cause" and reasoning...since I have a 5 y/o I'm not sure...if they strip searched my 5 y/o I might go into the school ready to blow a gasket, but I doubt that's the case. If they had probably cause...my daughter would be in big trouble...if they did not, the school official would be in big trouble...

EDIT - After reading the article...I would have strict expectation to have me or my wife present before any intimate searches were done. I believe that those involved in the mentioned case not only ought to lose their jobs, but ought to be subject to criminal trial.

Would you proceed with legal ramifications?

motherhubbard
04-24-2009, 10:38 AM
Yes. The law states that the lockers and backpacks can be searched. If they suspected drugs on their person I would need to be called.

Would you feel bad later about blowing the gasket?

BienvenuJDC
04-24-2009, 11:08 AM
Not in the slightest...in hind sight my anger may intensify. These people used the poorest judgment possible to exercise their authority...

Would you "feel like" physically hitting the person(s) involved?

motherhubbard
04-24-2009, 11:26 AM
Yes, yes I would.

Would you act on those feelings?

BienvenuJDC
04-24-2009, 12:26 PM
I would probably let my wisdom take control to realize that other measures would have a better outcome.

Would you run for a School Board position?

Scheherazade
04-24-2009, 01:02 PM
I am on a School Board.

Do you clean and tidy up your house if you are going away?

Tournesol
04-24-2009, 01:37 PM

would you ever trigger a fire alarm as a prank? [the students at school here just did!]

papayahed
04-24-2009, 07:15 PM

Silas Thorne
04-24-2009, 08:27 PM

Do you have an overwhelming desire to destroy technological things?

The Comedian
04-24-2009, 08:31 PM

Silas Thorne
04-24-2009, 08:33 PM

a_little_wisp
04-24-2009, 09:23 PM
I can't stop talking either.

Will that be alright?

BienvenuJDC
04-24-2009, 09:24 PM
I've learned to handle it...but with only half my wits left...

Would you take the other half?

a_little_wisp
04-24-2009, 09:25 PM

Because of the difference of pronounciation between "T" and "Th"

Is it hot in Southern California?

Stargazer86
04-25-2009, 06:26 PM
Depends on where you go. Coastal towns etc, not really. But I live in the low desert and it is typically quite hot here. Though the past couple of days its been cool enough to wear a sweater (like in the 70s-80s). Nice, but probably short lived. Typical summer temps are well above 100. Usually more like 110 and up. I remember playing outside one day as a kid and finding out it was a record hot tempurature day...I think it was 128 that day.

What natural occurance do you most fear? (i.e fire, earthquake, tsunami etc)

Oniw17
04-25-2009, 06:45 PM

Would you ever live near an active volcano?

Stargazer86
04-25-2009, 06:52 PM
Drought scares me the most. But if you mean what is the most physically intimidating, I'd have to say tornadoes because that is the only natural disaster that ever really happens where I live.

Would you ever live near an active volcano?

Where do you live? Tornadoes seem terrifying! All I know is earthquakes and that's not so bad nowadays

I would never live near an active volcano. Though I wouldn't mind visiting in an area where there were active volcanoes (like different spots in Hawaii...or near Mt. Vesuvius..is that still active??)

Has anyone ever read "The Last Days of Pompeii"?

Oniw17
04-25-2009, 07:18 PM
Where do you live? Tornadoes seem terrifying! All I know is earthquakes and that's not so bad nowadays
Tornadoes aren't all that much of a threat either. We get like one big one in this area every 15 years or so(I'm told anyway, I haven't witnessed any big tornadoes in my life). I live in western PA, and sometimes in eastern Ohio.

Has anyone ever read "The Last Days of Pompeii"?
Someone has, I'm sure, not I.

If you could only have one companion for the rest of your life who would it be? (could be famous person, historical figure, or someone you know in real life)

Oniw17
04-25-2009, 09:22 PM

Russian

What are your plans for the rest of the day...and how much of it is left?

Oniw17
04-25-2009, 10:04 PM
There's lots of people outside, so I might walk around and see what's going on, but I usually don't when I don't have no money because I don't like people having an opinion of me that involves partying for free at the expense of others. 1 hour, 55 minutes remain in the day here.

That's not my 20 cents...(American unit of money...the dime...a pair of one of those would equal twenty cents...I hate having to explain my culturally based jokes to an international group...;))
(I would have answered my question the same as the one before...but other's might now agree with my perspective...so I allowed for that...)

Does anyone here understand paradigms?

I don't think that I really understand romance...

Could you explain what romantic is?

Tournesol
04-26-2009, 07:41 PM
To me, having something romantic happen to you means that someone else took the time and effort to pay attention to who you are as a person, likes and dislikes, and they went out of their way to do something that would mean a whole lot to you.

So, using my definition, what's the most romantic thing that's ever happened to you?

Stargazer86
04-26-2009, 07:52 PM
I've never had anything amazingly romantic happen to me. But something very meaningful and romantic was when I was in labor at the hospital and my boyfriend brought me a dozen roses and a stuffed frog (I love frogs). He's not really a romantic or flowers type of guy so it meant a lot.

How much wood could a Woodchuck chuck if a Woodchuck could chuck wood?

Well, that depends on further information on the woodchuck really, I cannot give a definite answer with such limited information.

Star wars is neato, I just didn't like episode I, and I dislike the ewoks, although without them the rebellion would be destroyed, but really, why didn't the empire bombard the moon with some sort of bioweapon like a virus to eliminate the ewoks is beyond me, the Empire has to be one of the most poorly organized evil organization ever. (yeah I know, there is probably someone who came up with an explanation for this but really, no sort of explanation can explain this away in a sufficiently pleasing manner.)

Did I get sidetracked? yes I did.

That has always totally grossed me out. I don't care if they didn't know..its so WRONG!!

I think the casting for the first 3 episodes suck. That kid in the first one really irks me. And Hayden Christenson. I just want to smack him across the face and tell him to stop pouting and whining all the d*mn time!

Even if the acting was kinda cheesy for episodes 4-6, the cast just clicked and played off each other so much better than in the newer ones.

No I've never seen a UFO. I think that would be way cool but I'd probably pass out from fright!

Have you ever dreamt that you were abducted by aliens?

AimusSage
04-27-2009, 07:15 PM
Blame George Lucas for the pouting and whining, really, he had a good idea with starwars, but should have hired someone to rewrite the scripts, cause he sucks at that. You can blame Christenson for the wooden acting though.

Actually, about being abducted by aliens.... Yeah, I was abducted by martians and made their king, although it wasn't really abducting me in the traditional sense though, hard to explain.

It's called giant miniature pocket knife(tm) the King's edition.

It is contradictory, that's what is the best part of it, apart from all the other cool parts. It's basically a paradox too, and can facilitate time travel amongst its many and varied tools and functions.

Last time I used a sword? Not counting plastic or wooden swords a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away when I was a Jedi... aka. never used one, and definitely not for its intended purpose, killing people.

Ah, the famed mythological awesomeness of the little wisp, yes, a very interesting myth indeed. :p

The mystery of the Turnips of the eastern Nebula however, now that is the strangest of myths. It's the supposed origin of all turnips in the universe, but no one has been able to locate the eastern Nebula, as the description is somewhat vague...Fact, fiction, or just a lot of mushrooms?

What is it that makes turnips so awesome?

a_little_wisp

There's only one way to find out if it's fact or fiction (or mushrooms) Aimus - and that's to boldly go where no King has gone before. ... After you locate it.

Not like turnips though, they're more than any fruit or vegetable could ever hope to be. Especially that evil broccoli.

What do so many people go crazy over strawberries and whipped cream?

a_little_wisp
04-27-2009, 08:24 PM

I don't know! I like my strawberries by themselves... whipped cream would just over-sweeten it!! Maybe some people just don't think strawberries are sweet enough. :/

How do you tell if it's been a good day or night?

AimusSage
04-27-2009, 08:56 PM
If I can look back happy it's been good, If I'm in the hospital with broken bones its been a bad day, although not necessarily, but I think I might still be happy. As long as the balance leans towards happy, it's good, if I don't feel happy or accomplished, it's been a bad day/night. But that's just looking at myself, I find it more difficult to judge this when multiple people are involved. But usually if I am happy other people are happy too so that is good. Except in win lose situations, If I win and the other looses, like in football games, I guess it can be bad, but loosing isn't always a bad thing.

Such a difficult question you asked, so I bounce it right back.

a_little_wisp
04-27-2009, 09:04 PM
I couldn't answer this in one post. o.O It is a much more difficult question than I thought, initially.. yea, it would take time to respond. But in a nutshell, it usually comes down to how many cups of tea I drink. If it's 3 or more, it's been a bad day. If it's 2 big mugs - one at the beginning of the day, one at the end - I realize that I've had a good day.

That doesn't make sense at all.

Why do YOU like to have your signature centered?

a_little_wisp
04-27-2009, 09:31 PM

What would you like your secret agent theme to be? :D

not really a secret agent theme but "Do You Like Waffles?" by Parry Gripp

Do you like waffles?

AimusSage
04-27-2009, 09:39 PM
Best bond girls are the ones that aren't helpless.

My secret agent theme would have to be something psychedelic and mysterious, yet with a hint of urgency and just a whole lot of AWESOMENESS! Now I just have to figure out what fits with this best. I'll get back to you on that. :) Maybe I can commission a Martian composer, but I fear that only covers the psychedelic part, or maybe it'll be more like psychotic, not such a good idea on second thought, Martians have different hearing.

Would you want to swim with the mermaids, pillage with the pirates, or dance with the Indians?

I'd be silly to swim with the mermaids, I'd not be piratey enough to pillage, and I'd be far too jealous of Tigerlily -

So I'd probably just fly with Peter, and tell stories.
