My favorite painter is Dali, and to choose any ONE of his works is too taxing for me.
I am going to say that my all-time favorite painting would have to be Claude Monet's Boulevard des Capucines. There is just this something about that painting that gets me everytime...

Next poster -- what is your favorite painting?

sprinks
02-18-2009, 03:49 AM
Favourite painting? Erm... I don't know. In Art we see so many and every week I'll have a new favourite. For the sake of keeping myself sane, I'll say the one that hangs on my wall - not by anyone famous but by an art student. Lovely monochrome oil painting of a forest with a little cottage next to a waterfall, mountains in the background - it's so beautiful.

If you were to paint something RIGHT now, what would it be?

mono
02-19-2009, 12:16 AM
I have an image in my head that, if could paint, I would love to, but I have only written a very long poem of it, thus painting it with words; unfortunately, I have absolutely no talent in the visual arts, except that I can draw a fantastic stick-figure.

If you could master one art (painting, sculpting, writing . . . whatever!), which would you choose, and why?

mono
02-21-2009, 01:23 AM
I suppose you have every reason to feel homesick, Bakiryu - a good book to feel reminded of when thinking of home.

What book makes you feel the most nostalgic, and why?

Chava
02-21-2009, 03:33 PM
Erik Menneskeson (Erik son of humans), this is a tale of Nordic gods that my mom read to me as a child, the book(s) are amasing, and to this day make sure to suggest it at the bookstore.

Do you revel in nostalgia?

mono
02-21-2009, 06:30 PM
Revel in it? I get nostalgic over nostalgia.

The past four years, I have purchased personal organizers, and this year I bought one of the Bunny Suicides (http://www.jimmyr.com/blog/Bunny_Suicide_Comic_Pics_226_2007.php), but I still never use it; I end up memorizing everything to do. Do you find use in personal organizers?

PoeticPassions
02-23-2009, 08:02 AM
I don't think colors can be warm or cold... but I think they can be passionate and dispassionate (or more like incite such feelings). I prefer the passionate ones then. Like red, or yellow. or even sea foam green and summer sky blue...

most colours can come in different nuances, there are certainly warm yellows, reds, and blues, and also much colder versions. Some have a preference, I'm a warm colour person myself :)

PoeticPassions

yes, I know what you mean by warm and cold colors, I just never liked categorizing them like that. But I suppose I would go with warm then... or maybe it would depend on my mood.

Chicken tastes like... a cross between schnook (a type of barracuda found in South Africa) and tofu (but of a chewier kind... that kind of makes your teeth squeak)

I try to quietly accept that that's just how they roll, but I tend to pass judgement on crackheads and people seem like they're just talking to see what they can get me to believe accidently. Also, I purposely judge people who I know well enough to judge and people who are asking me to do something(not that that judgement usually effects what I do).

My "I'm a geek answer": Professional AD & D player (2nd edition only, please)
My I'm a wise-*** answer": professional trust fund kid

My "final answer": a Trust fund child who, when not on the professional circuit of vintage AD&D players, spends his time alternating between the Thoreauvian rangering in the least visited park in the US and at Heff's mansion photographing the natural (and supernatural) beauties seen there.

If you could know the exact time and method of your own death, would you want to know?

mono
03-12-2009, 11:20 AM
Perhaps not the exact time, but the means, I think it would feel interesting to know. In an Oedipus kind of way, where true fate and destiny exist, and I could die in no other way, I think I could amuse myself by doing these insanely, death-defying acts, knowing I would survive, because I would know absolutely the means of my death.

Same question.

PoeticPassions
03-12-2009, 11:27 AM
No, I think that I would rather have it come suddenly and in a surprise. Though mono has a good point about how one could do death defying acts and know that one will survive... however, if I knew, for example, that I was going to die in a car crash, I would probably never want to ride in a car again, or I would be terrified the whole time... this would really get in the way of life. To know death estranges one from life.

4. A picture from my daughter (given yesterday).
