Not too sure. Sometimes I think hidden away in a forest somewhere, a part that is yet to be discovered, they are flying around. Then my "realistic" self comes back and just tells me that I am silly to think such a thing. It isn't possible. Then again, you never know! ;)
How about unicorns? Have they ever existed?

I plan on buying the cast recording when it is released in January. I will judge from the sound of it and let you know (I am not a fan of one of the stars in the show, though). Sometimes the recordings are OK even if the show isn't too great.

same question(dec 2012).
imthefoolonthehill
12-25-2007, 04:03 AM
Cat's can teach us that it is good to be petted. I say that I love my cat. That's pretty scary, when you consider how eroded one's perspective of love must have become in order to call what he feels for a cat, love. Cat's taught me that love isn't always what you say it is.
Question: Can I get any more emo?
Oniw17
12-25-2007, 04:30 AM

Happiness, it seems to me.
Same question.
kiz_paws
12-26-2007, 12:04 PM
The most important thing in life is to remember that we are not immortal, so each moment is precious and should not be wasted. And while we hold this thought, we should not succumb to negativity (such as who has more than me, who is prettier than me, who is more powerful than me, etc.), but to be happy with our plights in life, looking for the positive always.

What do you think of research?
AimusSage
12-27-2007, 03:38 PM
It's great when done at a certified Martian Knives INC! research outpost, otherwise it's just a few people gazing in the dark, hoping something pops out they can use. (That is, unless it's Martian Knives INC! scientists researching evolution on the event horizon of a black hole, than it is actually useful research for the future of the Giant Miniature Pocketknife by Martian Knives INC!

Did you know that you can spell check each and every post?
crazefest456
01-02-2008, 03:34 AM
No I didn't; my browser sort of does that by putting squiggly red lines that I oft-ignore...
I can't find that spell check button in the forum, though.
Is our reliance on spell checks (nowadays) necessarily a bad thing?
kiz_paws
01-02-2008, 03:44 AM
I guess good and bad could be said of it. Might make us lazy? But a writer who just wants to pour him/her-self out in written work needn't worry about technicalities -- just get the meat out and let the editing make the gravy....
What the heck am I talking about?
crazefest456

Why does regret crush you?
blazeofglory
01-04-2008, 09:36 PM
I had always made up my mind not to ever be lost in "IF ONLY I HAD..." OR "HAD I DONE THIS...." OR "I SHOULD HAVE...."
No place for regrets in my life.
Have you ever faced a deathly situation?
kiz_paws
01-04-2008, 10:06 PM
Yes, a few times in my life. I almost drowned, but my father saved me. I also walked in the dark in Florida and this guy was under a staircase and he kind of staggered out from under there, which was when I broke into a sprint (yay fitness for once, lol) and left him mumbling to the dust I left behind... so thats a couple of narrow but never-to-forget experiences... :(

Maybe, sort of..
1. I was in Mexico in the water and before I knew it the shore was way far away and I couldn't touch sand.
2. I was walking down a main rode when I felt a car hit the back my leg. The car kept going and i kept walking. Years later a pyshic described it and said my angel kept me safe - not sure I'm buying it..
3. Skydiving I had to fight a little for my chute to open.

Yes- I fell through the ice in the middle of a frozen lake. Thankfully I had a couple of brave friends that were able to toss me a rope. I then climbed out freezing, but alive. It took a week for me to feel warm again.

Yes I'm facing death every moment. I could die in a gamma ray burst or be hit by a large meteorite, or be shot from a stray bullet or I could die of an accidental tear in Quantum space or reality. Or God could just come down and take me up to heaven, when he could use any of the above methods, to stop my living form.

What's the difference between great minds and the rest of us?
NikolaiI
01-09-2008, 04:29 AM
Craze, I think you have a great mind.
I dunno, to your question though....Nietzsche said: I'm a genius in my nostrils. If I am not a genius in my nostrils, then Nietzsche certainly wasn't. Nietzsche said he was writing for some 6 people in the world, or working on problems that some 6 were....in reference to the height or depth of his philosophy...Descartes also, wrote that he was writing to one, special person, out of everyone else, who would read his works and understand him; Nathaniel Hawthorne, too, said he was writing to an ideal, perfect reader, who would be kind to him...
Anyhow what makes these people great were their ideas, writings, all of that; but what's of paramount importance is just the love that we give, expand, and receive. The lives we enrich. Or if none of that is possible then greatness is simply holding out against the tides of people battling for existence, and achieving one's own lofty goals in solitude or prayer...it would make someone great to remember all the passing thoughts during philosophical trains of thought that strike one as so important, as so capturing of the essence of things...

Well, my understanding is that he coined the phrase - which I believe a prof confirmed one day by asking the class and, when I put this forward, answering in the affirmative.
I really doubt anyone said it before, simply because I think it's not true. I hold that a person is dying nonstop, and that there is nothing that doesn't in some sense contribute to killing a person. Don't you? :p

Oh yes, yes, then, of course, it's entirely true; he did coin the phrase, and many others. I don't think he created it though. Don't forget that Nietzsche read a lot, a ton. So he could have pulled the idea from some obscure militarist philosohpy-- of course, it is possible he created it, he was a genius.
In a small way, everything does contribute, yes. But not in a traceable way. For instance if I eat a banana that will give me fuel, which is not more than I need, etc., etc., this will extend my life, and I can only really say it contributes to my downfall in the same way I say that all things are connected.
Suffering can make us stronger, but I think at some point the suffering needs to be eased. I mean so suffering would make us stronger, but it also could kill us. And at some point we don't need suffering to be stronger; and it would only hinder us, and we would make infinite progress without it.
ah! that's really beautiful...
What I wrote? Thx, if so.
not alot...I read at most 5 books in the Republic for my poli sci class
Ah, well that's more of The Republic than I've read. I want to read it all eventually. I've read the Symposium, which I enjoyed at the time and I think I'll enjoy a second reading, and I enjoyed reading an excerpt of Phaedrus very, very much.

Yeah, on ten minutes' consideration, I'm actually not sure I completely feel that way about everything being remotely murderous. I do, however think that most of the things that we look at as "not killing" us - i.e. really disagreeable things - do have a negative effect, though early in life we seem better-equipped to stave it off a little...

From a much outdated style.

crazefest456
01-19-2008, 03:41 AM
Well, their computers are quite different from ours. Ours purely work through trillions of simple computations; theirs might be controlled by thoughts (higher thinking) and these computers will be part of a network (like ours, the internet) much like a supermind, because of the means they'll crank up the data with...It'll be holographic, I think...

This girl isn't strong at all. She doesn't have her own identity, and most of all, she's sort of jealous that you're more free-spirited than a lot of other people. She mimics you because she thinks that this will make her happy. She'll get both your "friendship" and she'll get the same social status as you. There are people like that. The best thing you can do is remind her of her own unique qualities and talents that she hides from everyone else. Then she'll get inspired to go her own way.
What would you do when you best friend cries the whole day, and you know she never overreacts, EVER? And you seem sort of helpless because you don't know how to help her because she won't tell you what's up. I've already reminded her that I'm ready to hear what she has to say at any time, but I don't think that's enough, right?

Yes that is not enough , you have to ask her again and told her that you could help but she has to tell you what is the matter.
Thanks..I asked her three times, already, but she still won't tell...I don't wanna be annoying. I think she needs time to herself.
I would tell both my mother and father, that you're getting two different commands. Sit down with them and talk it out. But be careful, try not to make this into an argument between them. Tell them that you respect both of them equally, and they could compromise, like adults and then let you do whatever they tell you to. Oh, but if one of them is making you do something against your faith, or if it is morally in correct, then follow the advice of the other.

Injustice in the world makes me very sad. Since I was a child, I've seen it happen in every social level, in every country, and it is so destructive. I feel that this is the root of oppression and poverty.
How do you feel about education?
