Same Q, not feeling original today

Zelly
12-03-2007, 12:20 PM
I had an astronomy one last year. This year... Maybe horses. Or I'll finally get around to making my calender. I've been pondering that for ages. Use pictures of my friends and my favorite horses and stuff. =) *end ramble*

If you were to have to choose between learning to ride and learning to play an instrument, which would you choose?

NikolaiI
12-03-2007, 01:29 PM
Oh, what, have to choose forever? Or is it like you get a free choice and you can do the other later if you want? I would go with horses if the latter but an instrument if it was my only chance to.

Have you ever fired a horse from a moving archer?
I mean ever fired and arrow from a moving horse?

kiz_paws
12-03-2007, 10:47 PM
No, Nik, can't say that I have! :)

Now, about my trick question: Could you survive a week in a room with only a bed and a calendar?

You could. You could drink water from the SPRINGS from the bed, and eat the DATES the calendar provides you with ...

[...just throw money...] :alien:

Why do I look to the sky (the trees), and not the ground to see if it's snowing?

AdoreroDio
12-06-2007, 02:00 AM
Because if one looked at the ground one might see if it had snowed, not if it issnowing, so one always innately looks at the sky to watch for falling snowflakes and the eyes automatically travel to the trees because it is a darker background and therefor higher contrast with which to see the falling snowflakes.

Why is everyone exploding on each other today (on litnet)?
Why can't we get along?
(2 Q's, sorry!)

NikolaiI
12-07-2007, 06:06 AM
1. I've seen no evidence of people exploding! :p
2. Yesterday (your today, time traveler) just had some good lessons for us; when good and bad are let go of, then everything returns to a natural state (peace, or non-conflict)

:p

Is your skin confused? (mine is; it's supposed to be oily but because it's cold, it's both dry and oily..HOW?)

NikolaiI
12-08-2007, 04:25 AM
it used to be, perhaps
i use less soap nowadays
the bare minimum to stay clean!
so that my skin doesn't get dried out too much
and i use lotion on my hands and arms.
that was probably too much info, eh?

crazefest456
12-08-2007, 05:07 AM
maybe that's the problem, I use a harsh face wash regularly (I really don't know why...I'd be fine with soap). I'll try it out for a week.
I needed that much info so it's fine, to me...

weird question: Are you fine with everything- yourself, people..etc.?

NikolaiI
12-08-2007, 05:30 AM
yeah :)

my question: do you like johnny winter?
this video is "Woodstock"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f50BtRnpV8A&NR=1
my first guitar teacher said...Jimmy Page isn't qualified to carry Johnny's guitar case! When I said something like "This sounds like Led Zeppelin!" to listening to Johnny the first time. Anyway I love him although I've only heard one album- I really like the song "Come On Baby (Let The Good Times Roll)"

crazefest456
12-08-2007, 06:01 AM
you're right! that did sound alot like zeppelin, I never heard of Winter before, though. They both have the similar blues influences, for sure... so, yeah! I do like Winter, and his guitar playing is different, but I personally think both his and Paige's is good in their own way...I don't know much about playing instruments though-- I always wanted to start my own cello-rock band :)

well yes I would. You gotta take care of yourself.

what is a good present to buy for your dad?

Chava
12-08-2007, 12:02 PM
Er, seeing as he lives in another hemisphere, and i haven't seen him for over a year... I don't know. Usually he asks for vitamin pills, since it's hard to get in Indonesia.

In danish christmas has nothing to do with christianity. It is called Jul, or as the viking's introduced it in the english language, Yuletide. and our Santa is not based on a saint. What is 'Christmas' like for you?

Ocelot
12-08-2007, 01:00 PM
My family's not religious so Christmas has always just been about family, and presents, when I was younger. Now it's mostly just about family and "the Christmas Spirit". We spend lots of time with the family and exchange gifts, but that's pretty much it.

Has it ever been up to you whether someone you love lives or dies?

Are crows getting fat in America?

Yes, they are fat but don't know how much from before. But I know people are getting thinner and thinner in third world countries as the crows in America are getting fatter...

Where do you think lie the fattest crows?

Shalot
12-09-2007, 11:29 AM
Probably America, as indicated before.
( I saw a man at the gym with a big fat belly sitting on an exercise bike in his gym clothes and sweat bands not even peddeling, watching a basketball game. It doesn't count as exercise if you don't peddle!)

How did the Hobbits appear in Middle Earth?

Have you watched Donnie Darko? And if you did, how did you find it?

NikolaiI
12-11-2007, 03:51 PM
Yes, I love it, I've seen it 5 or 6 times, it's one of my favourite movies. It took a few viewings to understand all of it, but the whole thing is so great- virtually flawless...

Have you ever memorized a movie?

Pendragon
12-11-2007, 04:39 PM
I've memorized a lot of things. A line from the Alec Baldwin version of The Shadow nearly got me sent up to hospital once. My counselor was being difficult and pushy and had already ticked me, when she stated I was probably setting there plotting to kill her. I laughed and sardonically replied that "If I had of wanted you dead, your liver would have been on a pole before now." Shiwan Khan's remark to The Shadow. Sometimes it doesn't pay to memorize movie lines...

I don't know,I don't find a lot weird.

Why do you think great rock stars tend to commit suicidal and at a very young age?

kiz_paws
12-12-2007, 11:18 AM
Well, personally, I don't believe that it is intentional -- methinks that the fame and overwhelming feeling of never having a quiet moment ever ever again (once in the public eye, and all) -- that is quite scary, and some seek other avenues to 'be alone' (heroin addiction for one) ... before long, death comes knocking.... very sad, actually.

OK, enough of my sermons -- do you think that people for the most part are inherently good, or inherently evil?

Zelly
12-12-2007, 12:21 PM
Inherently good. I think that everyone has both however. And the innocent can easily be led astray. In addition, what is perceived as evil sometimes could also be called laziness. Just my opinion.

Why is it that webcams are so fun?

Pendragon
12-12-2007, 02:53 PM
People are perverts.

Is you life ruled by what another says or does? For example, if I should make you mad, are you going to let that stop you from doing something you enjoy to avoid me, or will you have the guts to say (there is no violence involved, just a few words, and no threats, so no reason to suspect violence from either party), "Hey you hurt my feelings the other day. When are you going to grow up?' and continue to do what you enjoy?

NikolaiI
12-12-2007, 03:35 PM
Sometimes I'm timid. It's difficult to have a conversation with someone like that. There's often basically no way to get through to them. Besides, it could be better to just be silent. That way you probably won't make the situation any worse, especially if the person is looking for a fight. Furthermore, did what they do or say really make you suffer so badly? I think bearing suffering out might be a good way to look at it if someone is 'making you mad.' If you deserve it then you should bear it, and if you don't, then whatever bad seeds they're sowing will eventually come back to them. Just sow good seeds for yourself, and you'll reap what you sow.

What is your favourite martial art, and why?

Wow, what a wonderful way of putting things... :thumbs_up

ANYHOO: What is your favourite martial art, and why? Tai Chi is appealing because it can improve physical health, equip one to defend themself, and can improve one's power of meditation. So, yeah, sounds good to moi!

Wild_Diva, yes, you did enter a question and my block-head missed it ... DOH! Oh, and welcome to LitNet, btw!!

I'm the kind of person who'd always be honest with a friend no matter what. If I knew someone like that, I'd tell him/her. Then he/she might realize that it's wrong. If he/she insists, however, I'd leave the two lovers be. Maybe there is a valid reason behind it after all. Or maybe he/she prefers to learn his/her lessons by experience.

What would you if the person you fell in love with suddenly became your worst fiend?

What colour are turnips?

AimusSage
12-17-2007, 05:44 PM
Nowadays, with numerous dyes available for the most vain of turnips, they can take just about any colour they like. It's really a product nobody needs, least of all the turnips, but a clever marketing campaign convinced the average turnip that is was not okay to all look alike. It emphasizes their individuality by making them mass consumers, oh the irony :D

Do you think it's getting a little foggy in here? I smell armchair philosophy around the corner.

Chava
12-17-2007, 06:52 PM
i smell nothing, no i refuse to psycho analyse myself! I'm composed of all my passions, the things that inspire me, the things that inspire emotions in me, The people i surround myself with, my history, my future, my hopes my realities, my increasing arthritis, my dancing, my music, The people i have loved, those that have loved me, those i have not appreciated and those whom have hated me. I'm a product of what people have expected of me, and i'm the one who decides which expectations to live up to. I'm a person who changes constantly, i'm affected profoundly all the things i experience. I make myself up. I i live in my own dreams, and i pack them out when no one is watching. I'm a constant in so many peoples lives, and i'm a brief encounter for som many other's. I'm someone who is as of yet not contented, but whom is contented to be content later. Me am I.

Long enough for you?

AimusSage
12-17-2007, 06:56 PM
That is quite an apt answer, it tells a lot of things, most of all that you know yourself better than I know myself.

What is the best ice cream to eat while watching a movie?

Chava

hmm, it a vanilla with rum, caramel and chocolate, WHEN you come to Denmark and join the festival i will provide it, and we can all sit on a hill, listen to music, smoke shisha, and eat what we call "turtle" ice cream ;)

What's the most intense ice cream flavour?

AimusSage
12-17-2007, 07:04 PM
Vanilla is the most intense, it's so simple and basic, but it is the simplicity that makes it so perfect for a summer afternoon in the garden.

The only time you can be sure is when you experience that world directly, otherwise it's just pressumptious speculation. I believe in the world outside of my bedroom when I'm not outside my bedroom for the same reason I believe that the sun will grace my home tomorrow. So far, I've found my own subjective experiences to be fairly consistent, and I've seen the outside world before.

NikolaiI
