have every one realize what true love is... i'm sick and tired of what most people think love is (boyfriend, girlfriend, man + women... ect. without getting into details). please! that's one things love is. but if you love someone of another gender who ain't related to you, that people think you have a crush on them. or if you love someone who is of the same gender, you aren't gey. it restrict people from being able to really care for other people. i hate that... it's not fair for people! that's what i would change, and since i ain't God my goal is to try to show people that through my writing. to my this is faitilly important! under stand me?

Haven
07-25-2007, 10:33 AM
That's actually quite a tricky one. You could say their eyes, or what they're wearing but really it's more subtle than that... so I would say, how they respond to me as a person. Are they friendly, are they stand-offish what is the general vibe they give off?

What is the best and what is the worst time of day for you, and if you like why?

Orpheus
07-25-2007, 10:43 AM
The best and worst time of the day is when I first wake up and realize that I am awake. Waking means that I get to live another day and add to my life experience, it also means that I have to live another day with a lot of stupid bull****.

Who influences you most?

kiz_paws
07-25-2007, 12:46 PM
This will be corny, but it is Nature that influences me most. Seeing the mother duck tend to her babies in such a fiercely protective manner; seeing the humility of the wolf, while the pack waits for the alpha to have his share, waiting patiently by; watching tree branches bend with the mightiest of winds and bounce back like nothing happened; I could go on, but you get the point... :)

The Thousandth Man by Rudyard Kipling

One man in a thousand, Solomon says,
Will stick more close than a brother.
And it's worth while seeking him half your days
If you find him before the other.
Nine nundred and ninety-nine depend
On what the world sees in you,
But the Thousandth man will stand your friend
With the whole round world agin you.

'Tis neither promise nor prayer nor show
Will settle the finding for 'ee.
Nine hundred and ninety-nine of 'em go
By your looks, or your acts, or your glory.
But if he finds you and you find him.
The rest of the world don't matter;
For the Thousandth Man will sink or swim
With you in any water.

You can use his purse with no more talk
Than he uses yours for his spendings,
And laugh and meet in your daily walk
As though there had been no lendings.
Nine hundred and ninety-nine of 'em call
For silver and gold in their dealings;
But the Thousandth Man h's worth 'em all,
Because you can show him your feelings.

His wrong's your wrong, and his right's your right,
In season or out of season.
Stand up and back it in all men's sight --
With that for your only reason!
Nine hundred and ninety-nine can't bide
The shame or mocking or laughter,
But the Thousandth Man will stand by your side
To the gallows-foot -- and after!

Sorry about the long answer...

Same question, good one, Granny!

Were I on death row, which is about the least likely thing to ever happen unless they make laziness punishable by death, I would refuse a last meal. Why waste the food? They could skip the video as well. In fact, they can also skip the whole appeals thing. If I land there and deserve it, get it over with. If I have a conscious it's already killing me enough, I don't need any extra time to think about it. Fry me! Of course, they say some have no conscious.. http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l108/AbsalomKane/hangman.gif

right or wrong are so undefinable that I can't even pretend to understand a moral standpoint on such a situation. If the question is if I would kill if I felt threatened, I would hope I wouldn't and if my family was threatened I would do all in my power not to kill the assailent and protect my family, but if it came between the family and the assailent i would kill in an instant (or at least I would hop so).

To drink I'll order up a nice bottle of red wine (Bordeaux, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Burgundy, Port, Pinot Noir..... I'm not picky).

Back to "What is your favorite meal"? We got some very nice answers back there!

catharsis
08-10-2007, 03:53 AM
My favourite meal would be an object with mostly edible qualities. Possibly of sheep, cow or some other living animal. Preferably not dog. Grilled on an object used for cooking (Bar-Bee-Queue, anyone?). Garnished with some herbal sprigs (Rose-Mary would be nice) and served with a cellulose-based leaf mix. The liquid that I usually like to dress my cellulose-based leaf mix and cooked-edible-object-with-edible-qualities, is a mixture of Wocestershire "sauce" and Chick-En Gravee.

Now for the question...?

The Oedipus Complex was originally found in Sophocles' Oedipus Rex play. Through Freudian theory, the Oedipus complex expressed that all men, at some point in their lives have a sexual desire to be with their mothers.

Do you think Sophocles had some sexual desire for his Mother? If so, why?

papayahed
08-10-2007, 09:05 AM
I haven't read the play in quite a while but No I don't think Sophocles had a sexual desire for his mother. Oedipus didn't know it was his mother at the time of their "liason", if he had known and conitnued then I'd say maybe.

What is the most money you would spend on a pair of shoes?

Shalot
08-11-2007, 12:56 AM
It depends on what purpose the shoes were purchased to serve. If I am buying them for a practical purpose and purchasing them doesn't cause me to miss the car payment or the power bill, then I could probably spend more. But if they're just cute and they cost more than I spend at the grocery store then I wouldn't buy them.

I can’t help but feel this is a rhetorical question. I keep my mouth shut and listen. I generally know where people are coming from when they make a bad decision. But if you don’t want my opinion, please don’t ask!

Would you vote for someone you hate just to vote against someone you hate, HATE?

No I would probably just not vote since that would be the only honest way to go about it.

why do people get so insulted about things that aren't directed towards them or don't have anything to do with them?

I was kidding about rhetorical, but now I'm really wondering! that's due to my extreme insecurity and strong belief that people dislike me. I think that's the answer to your question.

Why are some people blinded by their own beliefs?

"in my experience" some people who have less egocentric lifestyles would not assume that most everyone liked them and possibly be more likeable than they know. The last part of your question might better be answered by a Buhdist and a believer in karma. quasi

I am not Buddhist, Karma lies in the eye of the beholder, Quasi, mon ami. Why are people blinded by their beliefs? For the same reason that going through a tunnel allows a limited view. They errect walls which they procede to hide behind and no matter who points out that there is an opening in the wall, they refuse to see it. It is scientifically refered to as "tunnel vision", and isn't always limited to the religious, but to any with a narrow mind.

Why do people get mad at those who try just to keep the peace and not take sides, as if they should or must chose one over the other? http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l108/AbsalomKane/Smilies/GiveUp.gif

Because people unconsciously like to get in fights and/or discussions.

Why are people so nosy?

motherhubbard

because it is easier to fix someone else’s problems than one's own

Why can't everyone be as great as us lit-netters?

I guess that would depend upon where you live.

Why do people flock to that certain vulgar talk show host on the Radio... not mentioning any names...? (as in, isn't he a bit old to be the radical dude?!)

I don't get it either. It's easiest to laugh at other people.. There was a local show that would call businesses and most of the time would get people who spoke very little english and would ask them stupid question and basically make fun of them. Apparently these people couldn't get a laugh by picking on people they're own size...any who, it's was the highest rated morning show in the area.

Well because as horrid as what he says I think a lot of people appreciate the social satire that emulates from it. The secret behind outrageous humour is to do something that people would normally find offensive in their culture, but when down in good humour, will mostly be accompanied by a laugh. I myself will make endless racist jokes, but because of debates and just random political conversations all the people who I joke with know that the jokes are meaningless. By making the jokes I am in fact not making fun of the race in question but the mentality that some people actually believe this crap. Kind of like the movie Borat and the Jew jokes, the joke behind that wasn't that Jews have the ability to turn into money grabbing cockroaches or that Jews have horns and look like demons and lay eggs. No the joke was that the people in the country had actually believed this about the Jews. So offensive humour is not really funny because it offends, or at least I don't think so, it is funny because it is satirizing a much more dangerous mentality.

would you melt chocolate X-Lax into a Tony the Tiger mold, which was a prize in a box of cereal, so that it looked like a chocolate, then feed it to your little sister? and if you would, how many would you give her?

Bakiryu

Since I don't have a sister I don't know but I would probably give ten to my brother (what is x-lax anyways? is it poisonous? is it candy? what is it? *hits idiot self*)
