Where would you go in the world if you could go anywhere?

verybaddmom
03-30-2004, 07:43 PM
argh, let me tell you a story about a recent trip to vancouver.
i embarked upon that trip by taking a seven hour drive in a minivan with my sister's five year old twins and her seven month old baby...as well as my child (Do not try this at home). we then flew to Vancouver (turbulence, not so bad) then went to family reunion, missed bus due to temper tantrum of one five year old, missed return flight due to sleeping in and of course the inability to get a taxi with that many people (had to take stretch limo, but of course due to sleeping in, one is not able to look glamorous getting out of limo at airport with uncombed hair, and unbrushed teeth, as well as unfed kids!) then of course long layover waiting for next flight that they can squeeze us all onto, not to mention the extra $$ they charge for that service. of course, to finish off the vancouver experience i needed to lose two of the children in the airport while trying to brush my teeth in the drinking fountain... to make matters worse, i was almost forced to end my relationship as my boyfriend was not at the calgary terminal to pick us up when he should have been. of course that was not his fault (another lengthy story, best saved for a different post)......but still, after that day, who needed that extra three hours in an airport?

sorry, i guess i needed to rant and rave about that....apparently i have some pent up hostility...i'll have that looked at.

so what about your best trip?

No - my library isn't very extensive. My dad must own every book that's ever been published (and judging by the sheer volume, a few that have yet to exist), so I just borrow from his "vault" in the basement. (It's like going to get the cask of Amantillado whenever I want to read something. :D)

Easter Island. Except I can't speak Spanish. So New Zealand. Except now it's overrun with LotR tourists. Oh dear... Prince Edward Island. Seen pictures of it, and it looks beautiful. And I can drive there -- till the whole "island" thing comes into play, of course -- so that's a bonus.

If you had the option to never do housework again, but it meant that at night your house would be overrun by those little shoemaker's-elves that do all the work for him, would you take it?

trouble communicating? well first off, my love told me around 10 years ago he wasn't fighting with me anymore. so no more screaming (see i was shakespeare's katherine :D) and now we just make nice and talk calmly and repeat what we think we heard and work through things. and we really don't disagree much anymore. sort of would be a headache after 13 years, like why bother.

I'm afraid of being force-fed. I was traumatized by my babysitter who used to force-feed me stewed tomatoes. To this day I can't eat somthing out of someone elses hand (even if they're just holding a fork), and I can't eat tomatoes. I'm also afraid of the dentist.

Why do dental tools have to look so scary? Why can't they make them fun looking?

emily655321

Cause then they'd be cotton candy, and that would be counterproductive. They also wouldn't have the chipping-power they demonstrated on the enamel of my front tooth at my most recent visit. Gah... enough about dentistry -- I have to have all of my wisdom teeth out later this month :(

Have you ever crossed the border into another country and had them take something from you?

emily655321
04-04-2004, 03:51 PM
No, but we had to get rid of our kitty when we moved to Britain so he wouldn't get put in quarantine, so that felt like they took him away anyhow. In contrast, on our way back from visiting Paris, my mother and I picked up a loaf of bread for my dad at a little boulangerie, because he's always complaining about how American bread is sawdust compared to European bread, and this young customs officer actually let us take it! He just kind of motioned for us to close the bag and was like, "Uhh... pas de probleme, c'est bon...(ne montre personne!)" *wink, smile* It was great!

When I was like 8 my Mom unwitingly drove my brother and I threw a race riot area in DC. She was lost and had the widows down and was singing along with the radio, and there were TONS of angry black men standing around with bricks and baseball bats wondering if this white woman was crazy or what. We were escorted by 3 riot police squad cars. My mom didn't realize what was going on until we had driven through the most volitale area. She kept saying things like "There sure are alot of cops here for it being a weekday." She felt really stupid that night when she saw the news.

do you have more close friends, or aquaintences, and how do you distinguish between them?

Shea
04-06-2004, 10:58 AM
I have more aquaintences (even among my own family). I consider people who are close friends, those that I can share personal information with- that includes people here on the forums. I get rather nervous when I'm with a group of friends and have a hard time drawing close to them, I deal better with one on one.

Do you think hand-made gifts are better, or store-bought (even if hand-made are not very great)?

Sunny
04-06-2004, 11:44 AM
To Shea,
Haha, i now begin to consider you as a best friend of mine on this forum. So whatever gift you give me will be cherished in my mind, even if it's just an e-card with a few short lines.

To be frankly, i prefer the former, the hand-made gifts, even the gifts are not very great. Gifts are just symbols for friendship, to me, there's no need to send very valuable gifts between two friends. In my opinion, just a "happy birthday" or a card will be great! i think sometimes the hand-made gifts are more valuable than store-bought gits. is it right?

When you meet your net lover in the real world, and then you find he/she is not very pretty, how will you do? Will you break off with him/her, or still love him/her as you do online?

Shea
04-06-2004, 11:55 AM
I'm finding you to be a good friend too, Sunny!:)

Hmm, because I'm married, I couldn't really speak for myself, but I would like to think that I wouldn't judge by looks, but remember a good conversational companion. Ever see the movie "You've Got Mail"? Even though Tom Hanks' character saw Meg Ryans' character as an enemy, he still realized that he loved her and wanted to be with her. (I love that movie!) He was even ready to marry her before he even saw who she was.

Hamburger or chicken sandwich? (I'm getting hungry)

Sunny
04-06-2004, 12:48 PM
Yeah, I like You've Got Mail, it's a great movie, and i like every movie starred by Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. But I couldn't understant why Meg Ryan can't get the honor of best actress of the Academy Rewards till now. She is my favorite American actress, to be exact, a goddess.

When i was watching You've Got Mail, i deeply moved and attracted by the romantic love between the hero and heroine, and i always believe this kind of romantic only can created by romantic Americans.

But one thing for sure, that is, Joe more or less cares about whether Cathy is beautiful or not, or he will not stand out of the Cafe and nervously look inside, and ask his friend, who just come out of it, "Is she beautiful?" I just remember these. Maybe i'm wrong.

So my opinion is every man likes beautiful girl, so net love affair is not credible. You've Got Mail is just a movie created by idealistic romanticists. Maybe i'm wrong once more.

To the next:

AP, my "best ever holiday" was my 17th birthday (I know, I know. Technically birthdays arn't hollidays). Anyways, I was going threw some serious highschool depression and was getting to the suicidal point. Anyways, I was sitting in my family room playing with a knife and started cutting myself a little bit. Than I started a little bit more. Out of no where like 8 of my friends show up with cake and sodas and threw me a birthday party. After they left I just sat down and cried to think I was contemplating leaving all of them when they all cared about me that much <sniff>.

Blade, I was writing an essay about A Room With a View I found the key word searchable version on this site and it helped me get an A. :D.

I find it terrifying to be in command of a deadly weapon travelling at high speed, seeing as I'm the type of person who still walks behind my mother in the store with my hands in my pockets and my eyes on the floor, even though I'm as tall as she is with my boots on.

All the dollar stores around us have closed for some reason, so no, but I didn't before anyway, seeing as Walmart usually had stuff for cheaper, and those little Malaysian children in the sweatshops can make finer quality merchandise with their tiny fingers. (In other words, I have huge amounts of guilt over buying things at the cheap stores, but I'm also poor, so I swallow hard and do it.)

How many pairs of shoes do you own?

who had the most lasting effect on your life?

My girlfriend. I tease/am-really-really-mean to most of my friends, all in good fun of course, and when I first got together with Kristie (my girlfriend), she was really sensitive and would cry alot when I teased her. So I've learned to take it alot easier on people that I'm fond of.

What CD/tape/8track/vinal/mp3/ok-you-get-the-freekin-point is in your CD player/whatever right now? Grr... what was the last band/artist/composer/(I'm really getting sick of these backslashes!) you listened to volenterily?

In my stereo, these 3 CD's: Judy Collins - 'Colors of the Day," a mix with Camron, Jill Scott, Maxwell, Sting, Rose Royce, Bob Marley among others, and "As The Planet Sleeps" - lullabies from around the world. I have AC/DC on right now (not one of their most likeable tunes, don't know it's name) but am about to change it for Power 99, a clear channel hip-hop station. And the last song I listened to voluntarily before switching to 70's rock was Diana Ross and the Temptations singing "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me." Wow is all I can say when men hit higher notes than me. :D

how many e-mail accounts do you have, and why?

I have two:
[email protected]
this was my original. But as I signed up for mailing lists, and went to porn sites, it filled up with junk mail. However I have to keep it around for those junk mails and porn sites, and because my parents and girlfriend refuse to email me at my new one:
[email protected]
Also I had one (don't know if its still around or not) at my old college:
[email protected]

oops. forgot to ask a new one.

If you went camping with a bunch of guys and you woke up with a condom in your butt, would you tell anyone?

um. first i have to stop my inappropriate giggles. whoops. ah well, i'll type anyway. i'd probably tell one of my best girlfriends (i know which one, she'd be sooo discreet). she'd think it shocking and funny and be worried and interested all at the same time.
i would on the other hand be horrified, shocked, titillated, embarassed, and hopefully still asleep/dreaming.

that's a hard question to follow!
oh help :D!

what famous building(s) would you like most to have an amorous interlude in?

IWilKikU

(you were supposed to say "no" and than I was supposed to say "wanna go camping?" ;) hehe)

The very falic Washington Monument, DC. Oh yeah!

If some random guy jumped on your back, would you leave him there, or beat him off?

let's see...first i'd pull out my compact to check the mirror and see if i know him and he's some way-too-friendly acquaintance. then, regardless, i'd beat him off. later i'd wish i'd done it politely. or had let him stay there. (j.k. :D)

if you had the opportunity to make your biggest dream come true, but had to sacrifice your favorite body part to do so, would you?

IWilKikU
04-10-2004, 07:28 PM
you would "beat him off"? Think for a minute. Yeah? hehe. *suddenly realizes that my humor is crude and obnoxious*

Well, my biggest dream and my favorite body part kinda go hand in hand if you know what I'm saying. So I cannot compute this question. I pass.

hm. rather than follow up with another question, why not let someone else answer that one. :D

I can't sacrifice my head. So unless my biggest dream were death, I guess not. lol at kik.

I don't have any questions....... so hmmm.... ahh, hell. The next person can come up with one.

Oh, so now NO ONE's asking a question? Blighters. And Kik, speaking of your sense of humor, I'm guessing you know the basis for this piece of advice: If you ever go camping with two other dudes, don't dream of skiing. :p

Fine, then, a question...(I feel so cheap and used somehow...) Have you ever owned goldfish, and how long did they live?

If I've ever had one played on me, I must have blocked out the memory. I don't think I have though, quite honestly. I guess I just react too sensibly to practical jokes -- I don't get bent out of shape or suspect any ill-doings. And my friends know from experience that I might cry. :p

When was the last time you wore clothing meant for the opposite gender? (For whatever reason)
