Sure! After all, I copied it from someplace that had free animations. Use a photobucket account if you want the animation to work. Save to your computer as a .gif, then upload to photobucket, OK? If you don't have a photobucket account, they are free, just join up, OK?

ok, has anyone seen Lawrence of Arabia, you know the David Lean film about T<E<Lawrence?
quasi, yes I have seen the film countless times; it is one of my favorites, and in fact David Lean is one of my favorite directors. Besides being an awfully nice man (I have observed him on many a special features segment being interviewed), he was brilliant don't you think? I just saw "Bridge Over the River Kwai" again, and I also own and love "Passage to India"; I own "Lawence of Arabia" and can watch it anytime I please - think that is my all time favorite Lean film - a masterpiece!
For everyone here is a bit of trivia - The real Lawrence was friendly with Thomas Hardy. The real Lawrence was a very interesting character indeed.
Pen, nice fairies - thanks - I copied a few, too!

Maybe this is just gullibility talking or some instinctual response to the man, not the writer, but personally, I think it was not an accident. Sometimes people don't commit suicide but lead a lifestyle that inevitably leads to it. Then again, maybe just wrong place, wrong time. Still, he lived on the sharp edge of a one edged blade. Where would we be without historical figures of such vision and genious? Do you believe that those in ignorance of the past are doomed to repeat it. What we need is Lawrence of Iraq. quasi

WHat do you think??
quasimodo1
06-01-2007, 09:14 PM
I think they are inextricably related but one doesn't cancel the other out. Writing, all kinds, can happen in either condition but I'd venture that the more inspiring kind would eminate from persons with good self-esteem as differentiated from arrogance. I see a relationship, a complicated one. quasimodo1

I don't know --- sometimes writing can be therapeutic. As far as inspirational value, I'd say that would come from the writer's ability to combine words and put it down, self-esteem and/or arrogance or not.
And what is self-esteem exactly? What are the origins of this term and who came up with it? I heard about "self-esteem" in some class we had to take in middle school and all I can remember is self-esteem = don't smoke drugs. *edit* this is questions only isn't it? Did I just post several declarative sentences in a thread for interogative sentences only? where is my dunce cap?

Hee. Would you believe poor ol' Aunt Rosie would probably burn a salad? That was one stop on our "visit the family" walks (we didn't own a car, mom never learned to drive), that mom made certain we never arrived at anytime near a meal! Aunt Rosie may still be alive, I dunno, we lost all track of her after she diviored Uncle Bud, who died at age 56. He was mom's oldest brother. Mom is 67, I think don't quote me, ok?

What is wrong with hailing turnips?! :(
kathycf
06-05-2007, 05:54 PM
How does the use of the word "noteworthy" imply that there is something wrong with hailing turnips?
noteworthy - worthy of notice; "a noteworthy advance in cancer research"
notable
worthy - having worth or merit or value; being honorable or admirable; "a worthy fellow"; "no student deemed worthy, and chosen for admission, would be kept out for lack of funds"- Nathan Pusey; "worthy of acclaim"; "orthy of consideration"; "a worthy cause"
2. noteworthy - worthy of notice; "a noteworthy fact is that her students rarely complain"; "a remarkable achievement"
remarkable
significant, important - important in effect or meaning; "a significant change in tax laws"; "a significant change in the Constitution"; "a significant contribution"; "significant details"; "statistically significant"

So Kathy, you actually can solve mysteries? Allow me to explain for the others:
In The Purloined Letter, one of Poe's cases with C. Auguste Dupin, the letter is hidden by always being in plain sight, among other letters lying around innocently. Sherlock Holmes also espoused hiding in plain sight. He told Watson "Naked is the best disguise." Become someone people are used to seeing and they overlook you.
Think of it like this: A lady is found dead in her home. A search reveals a registered letter, a fresh reciept from the paper boy for the month's bill, and two unopen packages, one from a UPS truck and one from FEDX. If the neighbors are asked if they saw any strangers at that residence that day, they will all probably say "No." Yet here is evidence that four people came to that door. A mailman, since a reqistered letter requires a signature, the paperboy, to collect and write the reciept, and the two delivery men. One of them could be the killer. But he is hidden in plain sight!
Congrads, Kathy! http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l108/AbsalomKane/Smilies/Appaluse.gif

A question with a degree of difficulty; this question quotes part of poem by an American author from New England. It is formated diifferently from the original. "Indebtedness to oxygen/ the chemist may repay,/But not the obligation to electricity./It founds the homes and decks the days/and every clamor bright/is but the gleam concomitant/of that waylaying light." Who is the poet? quasimodo1
