Summary Chapter 43

Pip knows part of his abhorrence for Provis is due to Estella and what she would think. He fears that Compeyson is still alive.

Pip decides to visit Estella and Miss Havisham before he leaves the country. When he goes to Richmond, Estella’s maid tells him she has went to Satis House.

Pip tells Provis he has to see Joe. He promises to put Provis’ plans to make him a greater gentleman into action when he returns. He sees this as a good way to convince Provis to leave the country with him.

When Pip reaches his home town, he sees Drummle there. He knows the man is there to visit Estella.
