View Full Version : Would You??
Poor but wise, all the way!!
Would you marry someone 20 years older than you?
Pendragon

Well, all the way back in 1979 at the age of 19 (she was 18) I married my best friend. Come December 21, if God wills it, we'll celebrate our 26th Anniversary. We have three wonderful children, Summer, Jonathan, and Ethan who are rapidly making me feel short at six feet. (Jonathan is over 6' 3"). So I don't plan another wedding.
I've seen them work out though and I've seen them fall through.
I move to pass the question... :thumbs_up

yes I think I would. I like men who are more then 4 years older than me, because they are more mature...I like more mature men, I seem to get along with them better then men of my own age...
I pass the question....
i would marry someone 20, even 30 years older than me. i think i think with my heart in most things and i am hopelessly romantic. also, age has nothing to do with ones maturity. one can be young but old at heart, like me!

As a man, to marry a woman 20 years older it would be a hard task for me. I don't think so. But who knows, maybe yes I would. For the other other option, I would -- younger.
So let's inverse the question. Would you marry someone 20 years younger than you?

No way! But that's because men are such boys when they're so young. I'd want maturity.

no way!!! In the first place, no such person would exist! :D
Would you devote your entire life to doing something you hate towards finding a cure for the most unknown disease and earning $100,000,000,000?
Finding a cure for the most unknown disease might be interesting...but I would never do something I dislike, especially for a lifetime, no matter what the pay was. :)
(Besides...what would I do with all that money?)
What would you do if you won 10 million dollars? (I'm thinking Australian, but don't worry about currency conversions :D)
Kaltrina
10-20-2005, 04:39 AM
wow so many things....hmmm....firstly i'd give some to the people that don't have money, that is to the poor...then I'd buy a big flat in the capital city, I'd buy so many books, until my house would be covered with books.....then other things like clothes and stuff and with the rest I'd probably visit places... I'd make a tour...
:D

Rereading Loki's post, he only states the money was won, he doesn't say how. As there is a gigantic pot on the local lotto now, that was the first thing I thought of, and I could have been wrong. My apologies, Loki!  And to you also, Nightshade!
I cannot even begin to conceive that much money! To be brutally honest, (and this is a hit only to myself), I am so terrible at money management that if my wife didn't take over at once and see that we spendt it wisely, I would, after first paying my tithes to the church and giving to the poor, likely loose my shirt in some foolish venture.
Pass this question before I get mixed up again! :p
oh, i would buy piles and piles of clothes jewelry shoes (am a girl aint i?we are allowed) then i would invest the rest in real estate.

Good Luck! :D, :rage: :bawling:... smilies express your deepest feelings sometimes...
Anyways, I would just tell him to have a good life and go live on Mercury for a while.... After a few years (I mean months) I would get over it... maybe
...I'm starting to confuse myself.
I pass on the question
Hmmm, probably try to hide my feelings and get over it. Eventually.
That would make a good opera...person you love tells you he or she loves somebody else...what heartache.
Would you visit the moon if it only cost, say, $10, 000 (as opposed to the 4 million or whatever it is now)?

No thank you! I would not. Rather stay with people I know. It is not easy to make friends nowadays, let alone when I come back and find everything changed. Addaptation would be hard.
For the latter, my answert is simply I wont.
Would you go for a strike knowing that half of the people you are working or studying with wont, and that will have bad consequences upon your carrier? (It hapened to me fiew days a go that's why I'm asking).
Pendragon
10-23-2005, 08:35 AM
Here in my home state we have what is known as a "Right to Work" Law. Basically, this means that if you work for a company as a member of a worker's union and they decide to strike, the company is under no obligation to hold your job and may hire people to take the place of striking workers. So when a company I worked for began to talk about a union, our CEO let us know that he located plants in VA because of that law, and would shut us down before he allowed the union to make a hash of things as they had in his home state of Michigan. Needless to say, the union didn't go through.
Pass the question...

HA!! I used to live in Michigan. I have relatives working for car companies and have been around but not participated in strikes. They do tend to cause problems, but in the early part of the century were a very good and useful organization.
It would depend on what the strike was about. I'm assuming higher wages, I guess I would strike.
Would you cross a picket line and work as a scab?

Would you cross a picket line and work as a scab? No answer, just a reply to papayahed. The Car Companies wouldn't be what they are without union help. However, this was a woodworking plant. Only the parent company is now in Michigan. The other factories are located elsewhere, two here in town, two more elsewhere in VA. And the others, far and wide. I meant no offense.
Would you cross a picket line and work as a scab? This is the current question. As I am disabled, I will pass.

It would not be colled love if the relashing ended before. Love is but onece. In any case, I would not. It is like reading a book. When you reach the end of it, it is finished. If you go back to it, you will just reread it.
Same Q
Would you end a current relationship to get back with your first love?
baddad
10-30-2005, 10:30 PM
I would never end a relationship for such a reason as it seems to me that if I was tempted, it reflects on the relationship I would currently be in, and so invalitdates its' own validity. (HUH?) ....but I have had recurring relationships with women I have known for many years, including one ex-wife.
Do you believe that people who really care for one another can be completely honest with each other.............COMPLETELY HONEST??
Pendragon

I think that people who are truly in love with each other THINK that they are being completely honest with each other but they really end up saying what they think the other person would like to hear.http://www.websmileys.com/sm/love/144.gif

That I, have been, and will always be A Red Sox fan.
Would not be a good idea.
Pick your battles wisely.
Same Q.
adilyoussef
11-01-2005, 07:53 PM
I would not stress the word completely. To be honest is a good thing to start a relation with. But a good relation is usually based on bearing each other's mistakes and "bad things". To be completely honest includes not only revealing formar lovers and past mistakes, which is better being kept for oneself, and giving an account of what has happened during the day and night, but also telling the partner's weeknesses and what we don't like on him/her, which is rather like complaining than being honest. Would not be erritating to do so? There are sertain things that should be kept secret.

Not bugs, but leaves and berries, sure. Worst case, they're poisonous, you die, you're no longer lost in the Amazon jungle.
Now, if you were lost in the Amazon jungle and got a horrible infection in your arm which was slowly spreading, would you perform surgery on yourself or take your chances that you will be rescued soon?

Preform the surgery. You'd most likely die waiting on rescue.

Would you choose to live in a house which was turned back in time if asked?Meaning:everything is how it was 200 years ago for a few months. No lights(only can use candles), electrical advantages, TV's, CD's, computers, phones, supermarkets, malls, cars etc.Note:You have to wear the clothes of the era, only use paper and quills, horses, vegetable and fruit market stalls, and exist like you were really living in the nineteenth century. But you get an endless supply of books...well, as long as they are published before circa-1900-20th century+.;)
The question has another two alternatives:
A:Would you do it for the once in a life experience?
B:Or would you agree for a large reward only, such as alot of money?

Dont give me the money but support me. Yea i'll do it my whole life without a penny, so long as someone is paying for the corsets, the golden basins and 3 dozens chamber maids.

Nope. I would not. I saw a TV show where they had people do that, and it doesn't look pleasant at all. I wouldn't mind not having television (I don't now), and I like old books, I like old-timey clothes (yay corsets!), and I don't have a car, I could milk a cow and cook over a fire if I had to, and I could get used to not having electricity, but... I am a very, very clean person, and there are so many things I take for granted that I would be miserable without. Such as, hot water, a refrigerator, antibacterial soap, safety razors, shampoo, body lotion, toothpaste, toilet paper (not to mention a toilet, to begin with), and Midol (among other related things); it would absolutely suck to be a woman 200 years ago! Imagine how everyone would smell. Nope, uh-uh. Not for me.

If you had time and money, would you get in the car and just drive and drive and drive, for days, weeks?
No, with time and money provided, I would walk, so as to give attention to every detail I pass; driving by proceeds too quickly, and driving for no reason . . . well, I just consider myself a wee bit of an environmentalist. No offense, but good question.

Nope. Firstly, I don't yet have a drivers licence (I know, I know) so driving around for days and days and days just like that would certainly get me flagged by the police. :D Secondly, I get carsick and prefer the open air. Thirdly, what a waste! Of petrol and of time.

If I taught them English, then they would teach me their language. Knowledge is a two way street, to teach is to learn; to learn is to teach.

That's really difficult to answer. There are so many figures that interest me, but I'll say a Romantic poet-as a friend- so that they can recite their lines to me on the trip and it's especially good if I ever get bored. And also as they might compose a wonderful "Moon poem".Preferably, Shelley, but then I would choose Keats or Byron if he was unavailable.

In a very hypothetical situation of marriage, and if my fiancée and I seemed ready for marriage, yes, I would marry someone even if her parents disliked me. the dog sleeps in his crate,
my cats can sleep wherever they like and generally sleep on my pillow or at my feet.

For my dog, it is forbiden to him to even enter the house. His place is in the garden so he has to stick to it. My cat is free to sleep wherever she like. But she has a place in the kitchen where it is warm and peacfull. She likes that place and never came to sleep in bed with me except when watching TV. She is very cunning.
Would you like to have more than one animal in the house? ( I have five: a dog, a cat, and three tortoises. In the farm, we have many other animals among them a horse, the one I like the most. I love riding).

Could you be friends with a person whose views on life, religious or otherwise were totally opposite to yours? Note: I don't I ask this one without answering it myself truthfully. I am a Christian but remain friendly and on good terms with any atheist on this board. Because we disagree is no reason to write the other person off or to treat them as less than they are, which is just as human as myself. http://www.smileyville.net/kim/welcome.gif
Kaltrina
12-06-2005, 11:48 AM
yes I could, I have friends who are catholics, and also friends who are atheists, but I don't mind meeting people with different views, in fact I like that, because we learn so many things from different people...

Same ques
adilyoussef
12-06-2005, 05:52 PM
For sure. I've no objection on having, and I have, friends who believe in different religions. I put more value on the humanbeing as a unity rather than a group. That's to say, whether a person is a christion, jew, muslim, or atheis, this person is different from those belonging to the same religion or whatever group he/she belongs to. Never judge a person by his/her group of belonging but by his/her deeds. Be whatever you like but behave correctly and, most of all, respect the others.
Good Question Pen. Same one.
AimusSage
12-06-2005, 06:12 PM
Yes, I have friends that have opposite views of religion, and politics, I do find that some opposing views are not compatible, racism for one is a big point for me, it really annoys me if someone continiuosly makes discriminatory remarks. I will always object to this, and people who do this loose a lot of my respect.
Same question, it's a really good one.
papayahed
12-06-2005, 06:49 PM
I'm not so sure I could be friends with someone that had opposite views as me. I believe in the good in people and trying to do the right thing yadda yadda yadda. The opposite would be someone who liked living in chaos and destruction.
I like having a few cocktails every now and then, while I could be friends with a tee totaler I couldn't be friends with someone that regularly preached about the evils of alcohol. I guess it's all a matter of degrees....
Same question..
Adelheid
12-07-2005, 03:29 AM
Well, it depends. I have to choose my friends carefully, because the way of the wicked can lead me astray, and bad company corrupts good habits. That is about principles and habits. But if they differ form my point of view, I will not cast them off. By no means. It is the principles and habits whih the Bible warns about, not the views on life.

would you try to save a friendship even though it's clear to you that your friends are ignoring you, would you still try to keep contact and be friends with them?
Chava
12-07-2005, 05:38 AM
I don't think so, friendship is a double sided thing, if the other isn't interested, then that's their choice. However, i donb't think that friendship should be quited easily if it's sincere. And then long-term silence is insignificant.

Would you get on a random plane and go where it takes you?
Pendragon
12-07-2005, 10:13 AM
We used to love to play that game in the car. Drive somewhere at random, take the first right (or mabe left) and see where we'd end up. Where I live, you can end up in three different states in less than 60 miles, so it got interesting. I live in the mountains and you could get on some creepy narrow dirt roads into nowhere also! So sure, why not? I've never been on a plane, but I'd try it.
Would you hike a lonely mountain trail by yourself, knowing that once you start the only way out is to keep going to the other end say 20 miles away, never crossing a main road or getting near a home where you could get help if you needed it?

I think it would be great. What a chance for reflection and a great physical challenge. I have to admit I'd be a little fearful lest I should come across any wild mountain men, but the wild animals and the solitude wouldn't bother me.
