Nikhar
05-20-2009, 12:42 PM

Would you ever question your paradigms?
jekan blazer
05-21-2009, 12:19 PM
my what?
would you explain that to me please?
No.
Anyway, questioning one's paradigms creates room for growth - questioning one's self, judgment, morés, and thereby making one's goals more distinguished and accurate, based upon an inevitably subjective perspective.
Would you respond to a "would you" question that you cannot comprehend, thus admitting your ignorance?
papayahed
05-21-2009, 08:28 PM
No, if it makes me think to much I just let someone else have the pleasure of answering.

Would you consider someone who steals a bad person?
BienvenuJDC
05-22-2009, 04:57 AM
Jean Valjean stole...
...circumstances?? Stealing is wrong, definitely! But what constitutes a BAD person?
Would you ever steal?
PoeticPassions
05-22-2009, 05:17 AM
Depends. I would steal from the rich to give to the poor, or like Jean Valjean, to feed my starving family. Or I would steal from huge corporations like Wal Mart or Coca Cola that violate human rights and operate because they exploit the poor (and Coca Cola pollutes and has been known to kill union organizers, just as has Chiquita)... I wouldn't feel bad about stealing from them. As for what constitutes a "bad" person, well the question was whether YOU would think a person is bad, which would mean that a "bad" person is what you think a bad person is. If that makes sense.
Same question.
BienvenuJDC
05-22-2009, 05:45 AM
I consciously would steal under desperation of survival. But if it not mine, it is not mine...
Would you break any laws, just because you did not like them?
PoeticPassions
05-22-2009, 06:05 AM

Would you ever burn a flag?
BienvenuJDC

Would you do what you can to inconvenience a corporation just because you didn't like their practices?
PoeticPassions
05-22-2009, 06:17 AM
I would stop buying their products, and maybe have many others boycott them as well. If this is what is considered as an inconvenience, then yes, I suppose I would. But I wouldn't try to go around buring their buldings down or something. That type of protest doesn't change anything. The system of oppression and exploitation must change, though how to go about that is complicated... (my apologies for these long answers)

BienvenuJDC
05-22-2009, 06:20 AM

kingoflombards
05-29-2009, 12:33 AM
Never!(I'm tired too so go ahead!)
Would you go to sleep?
Chava
05-29-2009, 01:41 AM

Would you tell me why Gustave Flaubert said "Madame Bovary, c'est moi"?
Hmmm, have not we discussed this somewhere, my dear Chava? Perhaps in some thread? Perhaps in some discussion of Madame Bovary and
I have heard a few different ideas, and Flaubert did not sound like the simplest person to understand, but . . . well, as a Frenchman and novelist - that seems quite the combination to create some ambiguity and confusion. Whether he considered himself as frivolous, unsatisfied, and infinitely indecisive as Mme. Bovary? Maybe. I suppose I almost want to take an existential approach to it that what a novelist, poet, playwright, and short story writer create seems essentially a part of him/her, for better or worse; yes, every diverse member of War and Peace existed as a part of Leo Tolstoy, whether a part of his own self or his imagination.
Same question, clever girl. ;)
Chava
05-29-2009, 03:33 PM
Haha, you can't just throw it back! To elaborate on your answer though, c'est ne pas seulement "Madame Bovary c'est moi", perhaps it is also, "Madame Bovary c'est vous"?
Which literary character do you detest?
Ah, I can think of a few, but I dislike more their characters than anything else. Uriah Heep from Charles Dickens' David Copperfield comes to mind quickly, but also that detective from Albert Camus' The Stranger, Iago from Shakespeare's Othello, and Alexei Karenina (Anna's husband) from Tolstoy's Anna Karenina.
Would you also consider that turning water into wine the coolest party trick?

What ethnic food would you feel most reluctant to taste?
Chava
05-29-2009, 03:51 PM
Sigh, anything that involves brains, or eyes, or boiled genitalia....
Which ethinic food would you most like to taste?
Oh, I do not really know, not having a lot of knowledge on these subjects. I do not think I have ever encountered an Indian vegetarian dish I disliked, so likely something from there.
Would you ever join a bookclub?
Chava
05-29-2009, 03:55 PM

Would you say some mountains are insurmountable?
In a metaphorical or literal sense?

Chava
05-29-2009, 04:18 PM
I think I have done both in the past. Of course the ideal is when the particular emotion becomes the sound judgement.
Sense, or sensibility?
Tough to say, but I would side more with sense.
