~knock knock~ What the--the Green Arrow?
Consider yourself lucky I'm here. I got my start saving parties like this from crooks.
Same question!

Oh, I haven't been on this thread in along time.
Would you go in costume to a regular, casual party just to bring some life to it?
No I can't say I could see me doing that. It would take a lot of guts. I'd rather just bring a game or somethng to liven it up.
Same Q.
Shadowsarin
12-17-2006, 11:11 AM
Depends what kind of costume...and also how many of my friends were there.
But, probably, I like doing crazy shizz like that!
If a friend you had known for ages wanted you to go to a concert that had your most hated band playing, would you go?
AimusSage

No, ofcourse not, he can go, I'm not keeping him.
Same Q. :)
Pendragon
12-17-2006, 11:29 AM
No. Friend or not, I can't stand the music, I can't stand it. Even the wife and I carry seperate CD's in our vehicles, because that was one thing we never really agreed on was music. So I don't make her listen to mine, and she doesn't make me listen to hers. We listen to the groups we agree on, and save the others for when we are by ourselves. http://www.websmileys.com/sm/music/musik04.gif
How far would you go to complete a collection of favorite books-- money wise?
dramasnot6
12-17-2006, 08:40 PM
Depends on how much money i had...at the moment I'm broke from Christmas shopping so it would be $0. But if i was collecting over a long period of time I'd be willing to spend a few thousand, just dont wanna give up some much $ all at once.
Same Q
Shalot
12-17-2006, 09:59 PM
If I really wanted the books I would figure out how to finance it, even if it meant saving over a long period of time. And that goes for just about anything I truly want. But I wouldn't just plunck down my life's savings all at once for anything without careful consideration.
Would you tell your coworker that he/she had a bat in the cave?
dramasnot6
12-17-2006, 10:06 PM
....i have no idea what that means so ill pass it along....
Shalot
12-17-2006, 10:10 PM
A "bat in the cave" is a booger. I have one coworker who takes herself so seriously and as she was giving out orders and being a condescending winch, she had a booger in her nose that jiggled a little as she spoke.
In this situation, would you interupt her, burst her bubble and say, "you have a booger, do you mind?" or would you just nod at her, focusing on the booger? Or something.
Depends on the person, when I worked at a tavern there was a bartender who always used to ask me before he went out if he had any "boogs" than he'd tilt his head back so I could get a good look. It was so weird at first, but eventually I got used to telling him right away and checking all the time even on other people at work (before that I'd ignore it). Now, usually guys I'll tell, but it's kind of akward to tell a girl that....so I just leave it to the next person :D .

If you were at a party at a friends place and had mentioned you had a sore back, and someone you just met at the party offered a massage, would you take it?
Misscaroline
12-18-2006, 04:49 PM
No way- my back is too sensitive for me to let som random person be rubbing up all over me. Besides, they'd probably try to do something anyways, and that's not cool.
Would you ever face your fears (all of them) for someone you love?

To put it simply, yes :) If someone i loved was ever in dangeri would completely forget they were even my fears

Have. Broke me of my fear of blood. Had to save my brother's life when I was 17, he was 13 and bleeding to death from a slash in his leg. I had never seen so much blood in my life, and usually I'd pass out at just a few drops. I packed him in my arms to the car, picked up a friend to help hold pressure on the wound and broke every driving law in the State getting him to the hospital. Normally, I was a fairly timid driver in town. Not then. Old Allen was dying. He has a horrible scar, but I don't fear blood, or diving in to help save anyone's life.
Good question. Keep it going!:thumbs_up

I can do anything for love. I will do it....:D
same question
Laindessiel
12-19-2006, 12:47 PM
If it concerns any of my family and friends, I would. No questions asked. I, too, am hemophobic, Uncle Pen, and just a small cut around the finger made by a knife, when it drips blood, makes my eyes see gray, my surroundings spin and afterwards would feel nauseous. Then my heart would race thrice than normal. If that's not a phobia, then I don't know what is.
But for example, if I'm given Uncle Pen's situation, I would've done the very same thing, phobia and traffic rules all broken, what the heck. I would've probably forgotten it already. Well, ofcourse, there is that initial reaction of fear and wanting to run when you see that red liquid dripping and flooding from human skin but that's perfectly understandable. But afterwards, if the thought of blood overcomes that of the thought of your relative in need, then I say go to a mental ward. Both for phobic and compassion reasons.
But ofcourse, that's only me. http://www.websmileys.com/sm/fam/fam19.gif
Keep the question going!

It is interesting the way the brain handles emergencies. I have passed out at the sight of blood and gone into shock (blood pressure dropping to dangerously low numbers, cold sweat, gray pallor, rapid-thready heartbeat) when donating blood. Twenty years ago I had a motorcycle accident in a desolated area of mountains. The five carpals of my left hand were dislocated, making my hand deform from my arm at a strange angle, and a chunk of my calf was gouged out and torn away. Instead of going into shock or even feeling pain, I simply did what I needed to do: pick up the motorcycle and carry/drag it off the road; walk a mile and a half to a filling station I had passed to call for help; assist with getting the motorcycle into the back of my friend's pickup truck; and endure the ride down the mountain to the hospital. However, the instant I was on the guerney and my riding boot was removed and about a pint of blood was poured out of it onto the floor... I passed out!
Overcoming fear-- for whomever and for whatever reason-- comes not from actually overcoming the fear (that takes time and mind-training) but from pushing through it oblivious because something else is more important.
New question: would you do something "stupid", which in this context means harmful to yourself, to save a loved one or friend?
alhara

i think i would, i do alot of stupid things without helping anyone(it´s kind of my motto) and if it helps my friends all the better

I guess I could train myself to find pleasure in other people's pain.

01-29-2007, 05:34 PM
So all my life I would walk backward to seak immortality. Then myself I'd lose in my quest. And after 100,000 years or more I'd regret what I have done wishing that time can go back to change my destiny. That's why, when I thought about it, I said NO.
Would you shut yourself at home all your life if outside is a real danger to you, or life is worth taking the risk of losing it?
AimusSage
01-29-2007, 05:47 PM
Yes, I think I'd do just that, in fact I think this is what I'm doing, as I currently only leave the comforts of my room to do things I can't do in my room, which is basically everything except sleep, watch TV, use PC and sit and read etc. So all in all, I leave my room quite a lot... I guess it is all a matter of perspective
Would you be afraid of what might happen even though it doesn't need to happen?

So far as fright is a normal thing in our lives, I thing, I'd not be ashamed to say yes.
Wouls you take the risk to save the lives of others making yours in danger?
Pendragon
01-31-2007, 12:12 PM
Certainly. I have before and would again. It's something I just seem to do and never think about until later. I've stepped between others and Death on three ocassions at high risk to myself. No brag, I was shaking like a leaf when it was over. I never thought about it at the time. Someone was in deadly danger, that was all I needed to know.
I will pass along Adil's soul-searching question.
Misscaroline
01-31-2007, 05:06 PM
Absolutely. Somehow, people have begun to see self-sacrifice for the safety of others as a bad thing... I just don't get it. And I'm with Pen. You go with your instinct, and as long as it works out dandy, we can all talk about it afterwards instead. Go ahead and chide me for it later. You're safe and that's that.
Same question!:D (Good one, Adil!)
ktd222
02-02-2007, 12:58 AM
I guess this would depend on who's life it is. Certainly I would be more inclined to do so for a friend than a stanger. But in both instances, I'm sorry to say, I would lean more towards self preservation, because fear looms large in me.
Same question
zanna
02-02-2007, 01:30 AM
There are definitely people that I would do my darnedest for, but if my morals kicked in, telling me that all human life is valuable, and that anything I can do to preserve it is worth it, then I would take the fall so the other person could see another day. I've had some experiences in my (albiet short) life where I would have traded places with someone that was suffering, just because there was nothing I could do, and it was horrible to feel helpless. I do look up to life-savers, because they are certainly doing the "right" thing, and it's so awesome to see someone that selfless. Fear would be a hard thing to deal with, so I hope that I would find the courage from somewhere inside of me to try and help anyway, even tho I might be scared out of my mind.
Passing on the question from Adil: Would you take the risk to save the lives of others, making yours in danger?
Shadowsarin
02-02-2007, 02:07 PM
Only with some people. I'm very fearful of danger, and to explicitly put yourself in danger seems a very daft thing to do. Selfish I know.
Same question.
"Would you take the risk to save the lives of others, making yours in danger?"
The Bookinator
02-02-2007, 08:09 PM
Woah, good question. It really makes you think...
I, personally, would take the gamble. Not just because it seems like the "hero's" thing to do, but because if there were so many lives out there, so many souls, would you really think of yourself as a better person compared to all of them combined? And don't forget, its a risk, not self-sacrifice. You're not doomed to die, you just have to make sure they're taken care of first and that they're safe and alive. If the issue ever came up, I would definately take the risk; its well worth it.
Oops almost for got the question. I'll give the next person a choice. Go on and answer adil's question or this. Whatever...

It didn't, she sometimes went long periods without sleep. Would you participate in such experiments, in essence being a human Guinea Pig? :)
Madhuri
02-07-2007, 02:17 PM
No. I wouldnt mind the biological clock going wrong, because at that moment I dont need to keep track of time. But, I dont want to be lonely, as it is my mind is always full of thoughts that seem to be waiting to attack and make me feel bad, I dont want to be alone and have my mind do unnecessary thinking, in which case I will go mad.
How will you self-motivate? How will you bring yourself back on track when you have gone through the above experiment?

I have gone through something very similar. It's a very disturbing experience. There are some experiments that I would not take part in now but when I was younger and fitter than I now am I may have considered them. These being any type of medical drug testing. Just less room for the old corp to 'get back on track' now.

Should men rid themselves of chest hair, i.e., does that enhance manliness?

Well, its their hair, they can do whatever they want :D I really dont know if it enhances their manliness.
I remember an incident about facial hair though, its about my elder brother. He was going to the US for his studies, and he was getting ready a day before he was to leave, he was shaving and I dont know what came to my mind, I told him, see, if you keep your mustache not even a single girl in the US will give you any attention :p (its not that I dont like people who keep facial hair, I was just teasing him :D). He stood in front of the mirror looking at his face from all different angles, thinking what to do and maybe about the girls too  then he went for a second opinion to our mother and she just said no. But, when he came back to India he was without a mustache, maybe some effect of a different place did the trick. He looks very good now :)

There has been some research in the Netherlands suggesting men with a mustache are perceived to be less trustworthy than men without one. Why this is, I don't know, but thinking of Stalin and Hitler it isn't strange, then again, beards don't exhude wisdom as they used to either, it's all due to association. Same with chesthair, if it's fashion, nothing to do with masculinity. Having said that, I personally don't care about chesthair either way, I'm not interested in a guys chest anyway. :D

I would need a better reason than "sounds appealing." Ted Bundy could and DID make himself sound appealing to a lot of young women who ended up dead...

You know, I would love to say truthfully that I would have the courage to do so, because I hope that if I am ever in that shape, someone has the courage to do it for me, but I can't say. I've never faced the decision. To anyone that has and has pulled the plug, I tell you from my heart, that if you know that was their wish, then you did not murder them, you allowed them to die in peace. My own mother has a no resusitation clause, and it will be carried out. She wishes to be cremated, which my sister is kicking against, but my brother and I are united-- mom's wishes will be carried out. It's a tough call. I hope I never have to make it, but if I do, may God give me strength and courage to do what they wish.

Would you stay married just because you were used to the routine you were in with your current spouse, even if you were bored out of your mind?
kilted exile
02-28-2007, 10:58 PM
Definately not, if there's no love there's no point. In the past I used to wish my parents were still together but I grew up and realised the only important thing in any relationship is love, when it becomes a routine it is a waste of time (of course this line of thinking could also explain why the longest relationship I have been in lasted a total of about 7 months)
Same Q
BibliophileTRJ
03-01-2007, 01:07 PM
Probably. It sounds to me as if passion is being confused for love in this question. Passion comes and goes (and more often than not comes back again)... boredom is no reason to abandon the promises made during marriage. It goes "till death do us part" not "till it's no longer fun & exciting". That's why it's called a commitment. If you're bored, do something to liven things up. A real relationship is based on mutual respect, trust, support, compassion, etc...... THAT'S love. Boredom may be a test of love; but it's a test that can be easily passed.
All of the above is my humble opinion..... It's not my place here to preach.
Same question.
papayahed
03-01-2007, 03:28 PM
I'm agreeing with Bib here, if it's just a case of boredom then that's no reason to end a marriage, however if there were other contributing factors then you might have a case.

Shalot
03-02-2007, 06:42 PM
Yes I would tell my friend that I didn't like who she was dating --- in fact, I have been asked and I told her exactly what I thought of him. And they dated for years and he cheated on her and ended up in jail. If you ever meet someone and you get a funny feeling about that person, trust your instinct. I have had that feeling four times and each time I have been right on. And if you're wrong it's better to be safe than sorry!

But how do you see it?
Kaltrina
03-05-2007, 09:03 AM
I meant about something like for example you want to travel and it's very important for you but a friend of yours or a family member says he/she does not feel good about this travel... would you listen then?
I would because I believe in intuition a lot... it happens to me all the time.
papayahed
03-08-2007, 08:11 PM
hmmmm... Good question. I think it would depend on the friend. For example, none of my friends are that intuitive. In fact I may be the flake in the group (for lack of a better term). I'm the one that believes in intuition and all that, so none of my friends would even bring that up but If I had a bad feeling about travel I may change my plans.

Would you like in a cave for a year to save on housing expenses?
zanna
04-25-2007, 01:39 AM
If the cave still had decent things, like a shower and toilet, and was warm, or I had enough blankets, and few vermin, etc., etc., I would at least stay a while. There is probably a lot of things in my room/ the house that I could do without, and still be comfortable, so if I could be comfortable (dry, warm, safe, clean, those kinds of things) then I could probably put up with a spartan cave. :)
Ooh, side note, I know someone that sometimes slept in caves and whatnot while backpacking in Europe to save money for food and other things, instead of always being in hotels. He also walked a lot to save more money, instead of paying for transportation. Sounded pretty hard-core; I don't know if I could do that.

Looking back, would you have done anything any different? Would you rather have held your tongue instead of having said something you now regret? (hope I made myself clear..)
