No Thats very harmful, anyway
Do you wish that aliens exist or do you wish we were the most intelligent race in the universe?

mono
08-03-2009, 05:54 AM
I do not think that aliens entirely imply a society of higher intelligence; the only "aliens" humans theorize about bear the ability of intergalactic flight. As with everything, I feel skeptical of their existence, and consider most of it similar to every other conspiracy theory (whether or not anyone has landed on the moon, ESP, the paranormal, etc.), but I also general question the intelligence of humans. Asking whether I wish for aliens' existence or human superiority in intergalactic intelligence seems a lot like asking me if I proved the most intelligent grocery store customer last night; it does not affect me, and I could not do something about it if I tried (because someone seems bound to outsmart me), plus I still managed to successfully purchase all of my groceries, my goal for existing there.

Inspired by a former sociological experiment, would you trust someone to guide you blindfolded around the city (as in trust you not to run you into walls, off curbs, into traffic, etc.)?

JuniperWoolf

Does the lab coat come with a doctorate and a good explanation? Then maybe. Anyone can buy a lab coat though.

That question was based on an old experiment by Stanley Milgram that was pretty scary. I couldn't find the original, but this is a reproduction:

Would you ever buy a lab coat?

Would you ever argue with a cop if you disagreed with him/her?

Would you be upset or embarrassed if you were pulled over by a cop for doing something really dumb?

papayahed
08-03-2009, 09:46 PM

What's the one small (irrelevant) aspect of your past that you would change if you could (knowing that the change would have 0 to little consequence to the rest of your life)?

JuniperWoolf
08-10-2009, 02:20 AM
One time when I worked at the local bakery, I left my glasses at home because I thought that they looked geeky. A shy girl that I liked was standing at the counter a few feet away and she waved at me. Without my glasses I didn't see the wave, and I just stared at her. It wasn't until she left and my friend Brooke said "why didn't you wave back?" that I realized what I had done. *sigh* Things were awkward between us ever since.

mono
08-18-2009, 06:53 AM
No, both as a vegetarian and as a non-member of the Donner Party, I would sooner die a martyr.

Under the same circumstances as papayahed's question, would you sooner eat the dead passengers for survival, or "donate" yourself to the other surviving passengers?

Haunted
08-18-2009, 09:12 AM
I wouldn't eat anyone. I'm an organ donor but I'm not at the point of donating myself as food.

Under the same circumstances as papayahed's question (2 questions up), if you're to be eaten by other passengers, would you taste better boiled or grilled?

Scheherazade
08-18-2009, 10:14 AM
Spit-roasted very slowly.

Would you record your own singing to send to someone you love (romantically)?

Mathor
08-18-2009, 06:07 PM
Being a singer/musician/etc etc, I've done it before. And I've learned something, don't record anything you'll regret like 4 years down the road!

Would you write a poem to give someone you have a crush on?

Scheherazade
08-18-2009, 06:09 PM

Maryd.
08-19-2009, 10:19 AM
No... eww...

Would you sleep with the same sex once, even if you were not gay.

mono
08-19-2009, 10:39 AM
It seems to me that owning a desire or committing the act of intimacy (even once) with someone of the same gender would make one at least partially homosexual, if not bisexual, whether suppressed or not. I suppose I take a more dimensional rather than categorical approach in terms of the subject, much like Dr. Alfred Kinsey did in developing the Kinsey scale, which, for a lack of better words, measured how heterosexual, bisexual, or homosexual an individual felt. Certainly, nothing seems wrong to me with either extreme, but "knowing thyself" takes a bit of priority upon the subject, in my opinion, before "goin' and gettin' 'em, tiger."

Would you ever fraternize with a coworker?

Maryd.
08-19-2009, 07:17 PM
Wow Mono... That was a mouthful.

No I wouldn't fraternize with a coworker as it would make the working enrionment, very uncomfortable... Almost unbearable. (In my opinion)

Would you sleep at a strangers place?

Scheherazade
08-20-2009, 05:28 PM

Would you consider yourself a "grown up"?

Mathor
08-20-2009, 05:31 PM
Not really. I'm 21, but i think at this age we're still pretty immature.

Nope.

Would you offer your holiday fund to a close relative who is in stress?

mono
08-26-2009, 03:55 AM
Sure, if they seemed in that much of a need. Even with a close friend, with whom I attended nursing school, I donated some of my paid-leave hours to her, after she used up all of her paid-leave hours from her maternity leave, following the birth of her child. One of her inlaws lived on the other side of the country, in very poor health (and eventually passed away); she lacked paid-leave hours for her and her husband to go see him, so I donated mine.

Not with drugs or alcohol, no, and I hardly think s/he would admit that what spare change I donate would go towards supporting such a habit, even if I asked. As a regular "spare changer" I have no doubt that at least some of it has gone towards fulfilling such a habit as substance abuse, and I feel unfit to judge which individuals spend such spare cash on those substances (some, however, seem more obvious than others). Regardless, I still "spare change" when I can, as a giving person (or so I would like to think); I will not turn the other cheek, ignoring whatever the begger spends it on, but I also refuse to waste time into researching what this dime went to or where this quarter went.

I cannot remember the last time I sang karaoke, likely because it often requires a lot of intoxication and even more convincing from others; one loses judgment after so long as to whether others want to hear you or not. I recall something vague, however, many months ago, about "Head Over Heels" by Tears for Fears.
