summer grace
02-23-2006, 02:13 PM
I joined a few weeks ago. I am so busy on another forum, I haven't really had time to begin my life here as it were. But, now I do. I am 19 from IA/MN, and my name is grace, I was born in the summer (July 29, '86) so ''summer grace'', and summer is my favorite season. I love literature, and have since I was eight, especially poetry. Some of my favorite poets are Emily Dickinson, Sara Teasedale, Emily Bronte, Christina Rosseti, Ernest Dowson, A. E. Housman, Edna St. Vincent Millay. Also, I have recently become fascinated with the Fitzgeralds, particularly Zelda. Anyway, I also love history, royalty, and the like. I would post a list of historical interests, but they are so many. So maybe later. And I love writing poetry, and have since I was 10. As well, I like reading, writing, walking, quotations, forums, Early Hollywood, listening to music, and magazines, and wandering around cemeteries ( I know that's a bit weird in most people's opinion) and watching figure skating ( never tried it), and summer. And most likely other things I haven't thought of.

In many ways my favorite role model of all time is Emily Dickinson. I love to discuss what literature and history with people online because there is no one around me interested in such things. I also enjoy making friends who have interests like mine ( it is so rare). So, as long as I am not horribly busy on the Russian history forum, I will try to post here. I really love it here!

Hello Everyone! I am also a "Newbie". This is my first time at this site and the first message posted. A little about me. I am a "nontraditional-aged" recent college graduate. I studied neuroscience and physiological psychology and plant to do a Master's degree in nursing. My interests include art, music (particularly classical, but other genres as well), pilates, yoga, reading, studying, literature, gardening, and my children. I'm not sure what to expect from this site, but, I'd like to know more about literature, so I guess I'm in the right place.

Greetings from a new greeter, greeted ones,
I recieved the monicker Mililalil because of my love for literature,
a love arranged like many flowers,

Before I took on this erstwhile autonym, I was but known by 50 names -

Hi!
This is about the third thread I've actually taken the time to read a smattering of posts from since I discovered this site (perhaps an hour ago) and the first two were in the A Portrait of the Artist as Young Man.
I actually found this site by searching for it. I didn't know it existed, but over the past few weeks I have come to realize a certain futility in reading books without discussing them with other people. So I searched for "literature discussions", among other terms, and found this seemingly perfect site as a match for what I saught.
Unfortuneately however, I was kind of disappointed with the threads for A Portrait. I suppose it's a relatively obscure work (although I had hoped that in such a community as this there would have been more discussion about it--guess I should just be happy it was on the list of novels...). I just hope that this is the environment I envision it to be and that it doesn't fall short of my expectations, however high they may be. (I am an idealist after all.)
Hmmmm... I hope all that doesn't sound too negative... I'm generally a positive person but I felt these particualr sentiments of mine would reveal significant aspects of my character relevant to this new setting, which is one of the things an introduction should do, or at least, what I wanted to do with mine.
Overall I am looking forward to this experience with great excitement and intend to gain and offer much to and from this network!

-Aisli

Hello everyone,
I just discovered this site today, and I registered right away. I am 2nd year student and English major. I am planning on going to law school and become an attorney, a childhood dream. Why an English major then? Even I don't known,:( maybe cuz I love to read. I can't really pick a favorite writer cuz I have a long list, but I love works of Jane Austin and Oscar Wilde. I have read "Pride and Prejudice" so many times, and I love Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Grey." I also like to read Nicolas Sparks' novels.
Other hobbies besides reading are writing, drawing, not that I can actually draw, and watching Gilmore Girls and One Tree Hill. :)
For now, thats all. :)

Rks poet, I don't know very well, how to be a great poet. I think that it needs you to have a large vocabulary, sense and sentence formation and many more things. You can check Poetry Posts. You will find them interesting and they might help you in achieving your goal.

Belle--Ineptum? Bah! I'm sure your Latin is quite good. Mine is so so. At any rate, I don't imagine I'd get very far trying to discourse in Latin alone. So I won't embarrass myself by trying to compose a witty reply in Caesar's tongue. ;)

Yeah, I guess you could say that. :brow
Then again, maybe it is just that del vario stile in ch'io piango et ragiono fra le vane speranze e 'l van dolore, ove sia chi per prova intenda amore, spero trovar pietà, nonché perdono.

E consci Petrarca! Italiano capisco meglio. Ah amore! Hai trovato pietà nel mio cuore se tu piangi et ragioni fra le vane speranze e 'l van dolore. ;)

Any other languages we should be watching out for from you? :D

Virgil—Belle’s quote under the name is the start of one often circulated among Latin students: quiquid latine dictum sit altum videtur “what is said (written) in Latin, seems high (noble)” (By the way, I like your Latin catch phrase too.)
I’ll let her translate the rest of what she said (or he? sorry if I’m wrong Belle), except for the last bit from Petrarch which is from the first poem in the Canzoniere (the same poem where my signature is from). I thought I’d post it here so everyone knows what both of us are referring to:

Voi ch’ascoltate in rime sparse il suono
di quei sospiri ond’ io nudriva ‘l core
in sul mio primo giovenile errore,
quand’ era in parte altr’ uom da quell ch’I’sono:

del vario stile in ch’io piango et ragiono
fra le vane speranze e ‘l van dolore,
ove sia chi per prova intenda amore
spero trovar pietà, non che perdono.

Ma ben veggio or sì come al popol tutto
favola fui gran tempo, onde sovente
di me medesmo meco mi vergogno

et del mio vaneggiar vergogna è ‘l frutto,
e’l pentersi, e ‘l conoscer chiaramente
che quanto piace al mondo è breve sogno.

You who hear in scattered rhymes the sound of those sighs with
which I nourishdd my heart during my first youthful error, when
I was in part another man from what I am now:

For the varied style in which I weep and speak between vain
hopes and vain sorrow, where there is anyone who understands
love through experience, I hope to find pity, not only pardon.

But now I see well how for a long time I was the talk of the crowd,
for which often I am ashamed of myself within;

and of my raving, shame is the fruit, and repentance, and the
clear knowledge that whatever pleases in the world is a brief
dream.
(This is the Durling English translation)

Welcome O dark lord. Do you mean you want to know how to start a new thread to introduce a new discussion topic? You need to go to the part of the forums where you want to post (General Literature, Personal Poetry, wherever it is), and click on the button near the bottom where it says "new thread." Then a box will open where you can compose the title and content of the first post for that thread, just like any other post. Hope this helps.

No problemo, Virgil.

"Nullo modo! Vah! Denuone Latine loquebar? Me ineptum. Interdum modo elabitur."

No way! Oh! Was I speaking Latin again? Silly me. Sometimes it just sort of slips out.

How pleasant it is to find a site like this

This seems to be a home for we who search for an on-line site where "real" ideas of all sorts might be found. I’ve never written in such a forum, so I don’t quite know how to speak my thoughts. Well, since I’m good at dialog, conversations here might well be mutually rewarding...

Identity first: I’m of a time of much more formality in writing, a curse in a time of swift wording. Unless careful, I become like Henry James . (Now there: Even that was more of an apologia than an introduction!)

I like reading and writing and the arithmetic of sorting words into coherence of “tell-craft”. Wishing to separate depth from breadth I try to listen very closely and to be less than wordy.

Is this of any interest to you? Wishing an answer soon, I’ll cat-like leap to put these few lines onto the forum.

Thanks to all of you of cleverness and friendliness. I hope to be able to be part of this on-line conversational home.

FYI: I'm an old guy in San Francisco, where I've lived most of my life.

Hello. I just registered and have posted a few poems in the Personal Poetry forum. I'm a teacher of Latin, history, and English. Right now, I'm attempting to collect and read all 20 of Zola's Rougon-Macquart novels - in order - even though I've read a few individually before.

Thanks for your most interesting note, reminding me of yet another subject that I’ve wished to learn more. My own areas of study have been numerous, and now--- you give me another one! How to do it all in one lifetime? Because of the fascination these novels hold for so many, I'll search for a copy of the 1st volume. How far beyond that must remain a topic of conjecture. (You see, I’ve attempted to have a life unbounded by any one discipline. While this has its virtues, a fatal failing of such a life is that it leaves one existing as little more than a painful example of Hegel’s “absence of freedom” [where freedom is “perfect obedience to perfect law”]. )

I don’t know how much space is allotted in this evening is not a time for me to test the boundaries. Hence, more conversations are possible. I shall certainly read your poetry, since such writing is of intense interest to me. After studying and reading it for very many years, I realize that I know less and less about how to define it. I do believe, however, that is the fountainhead of all literary (and more) expression.

Any prefatory comments before I look at what you’ve been doing?

Agreed: Literature need have no other end than its own expression. (My writing often sounds too much like self-indulgent Edwardian speech. You see, I find it difficult to express my thoughts simply, truly and properly.) In this case, then, using simpler terms, perhaps, let me say, "Sit back and watch the sun rise".

But now I see well how for a long time I was the talk of the crowd,
for which often I am ashamed of myself within;

and of my raving, shame is the fruit, and repentance, and the
clear knowledge that whatever pleases in the world is a brief
dream.
(This is the Durling English translation)
Thank you Petrarch. That is so beautiful. I really wish I was good in languages. I envy all of you that are proficient in more than one. When I see someone that is proficient in multiple (I'll single out you and Koa, but there are several of you) languages, I am in complete awe. I've made fun of myself in many posts where I tell everyone how I've studied Spanish for five years between Jumior Jigh and High school and even one semester in College and still I can't write a simple sentence. Forget-about-it if someone actually spoke to me in Spanish.

To all the newbies, welcome. There are too many of you to welcome you all individually. I hope you all enjoy this Network.

Greetings:

I've been reading books by Jules Verne. My family and I finished 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea last year, I went on to read Journey to the Center of the Earth, The Mysterious Island by myself -- and am now about a third of the way through Five Weeks in a Balloon.

These are very good pieces of fiction. I like their enthusiasm for science and discovery. They have a downside too, in that they are period pieces and have smatterings of racism and chavinism that modern audiences may find distasteful.

I'm interested in trying some of the science containted, and, maybe, editing a new online resource with experiments a reader could try.

Example:

In 'Five Weeks in a Balloon' -- they decompose water into Hydrogen and Oxygen by electricity. There's a nifty little experiment you can make with a 9v battery -- tape a paper clip to each post and stick in a class of water. Hydrogen will form on one paperclip and oxygen on the other. It works best if you add a couple drops of dish soap to the water. You can see the gas better as it makes it's way to the surface. Also, if you take a match to the bubbles you may be able to ignite some of the gas. :)

Ok, I'm a graduate student in NYU (doing my masters in math), but I'm originally from St. Petersburg, Russia.

Among my favorite books are "Brothers Karamazov", "Idiot" and "Crime and Punishment" by Dostoevsky, "Master and Margarita" by Bulgakov, "One hundred years of solitude" by Markes, "Foucault’s Pendulum" by Eco.

Currently I'm reading mostly history books. I usually choose some topic and try to read a bunch of books about it. Now I'm interested in the medieval spanish history.

My hobbies are history, soccer(totally obsessed with it) and tennis.

Best,

Boris

Hello Boris239 and welcome.

I couldn't help but to notice that name "Boris", which is to me a dear name in remembering Saints Boris and Gleb. Also, your reading process reminds me of my reading at many times in my life.

Even at work, while away from books, it is as if a secretary organizes files of things read in the past, then suddenly I see convergences in things I had not directly read.

Do you ever experience that?

Yomiko
03-21-2006, 06:57 PM
Hi. I tried posting a few minutes ago, but something didn't get through so now I have to start over...

I've been an avid reader for as long as I can remember, and now I'm pursuing a degree in literature. My mother's aspiring to become a children's author, and her efforts are inspiring me to take my own writing more seriously. I like recording my dreams, and making short stories out of them.

I joined here particularly to ask around about some obscure old books I've found, as well as some I can't find anywhere.

Mililalil XXIV
03-22-2006, 02:28 AM
Yomiko,
that is an excellent idea: recording dreams as the basis of short stories!

Yomiko
03-22-2006, 09:46 AM
Thanks! It's also very productive for me, because I rarely have dreams that are completely random. Usually, my dreams have specific plots, with random objects, or a few random moments in an otherwise cohesive story.

Of course I read a lot, everything from dry old academic stuff to pulp fiction (preferably from the thirties), and I can't pass up a seemingly useless grammar (the crowning glory of my book collection and my most useless grammar is 'Let's Say it in Fijian'). Hi Folks,

I am a retired Navy helicopter pilot. I work as a self-employed woodworker now and I am an aspiring writer. Those two interests, fiction writing and building furniture, boats and structures out of wood, share more in common in terms of craftsmanship than you might think!

Good to be here and read so many energetic and thoughtful opinions from such great folks.

Hello, I am a secondary English teacher. I have taught high school English for four years and, due to a move, am currently teaching 8th grade language arts. Not sure why they call it English for high school and language arts for middle school, but that’s the way they do it. My favorite author (for the past several years, anyway) is Dostoevsky, though I love Tolstoy as well. It’s hard to find people in life who want to discuss literature–at least that has been my experience, so I did a google search to find literary forums and found this. I also have a deep interest in writing–more from an objective point of view; I don’t write very much (but I'm working on that). Hope to enter into some great discussions here. Todd

Welcome Todd. You sound very interesting. I think you'll enjoy it here. I've had trouble discussing literature with others. Once out of college, there are very few people in my sphere of humanity that I can discuss literary topics with. Lit Net has been a blessing for me.

Actually your post reminded me of an incident way back when I was much younger. I happen to go out on a date with this really pretty girl and I made the mistake of telling her I was reading Tolstoy's War and Peace. And I started talking about what a great work and got carried away with the subject. She was an intelligent girl, but not literary. I must have bored her to tears because she never went out with me again. Let this be a lesson for all literary minded people who go out on dates.

Thanks, Virgil. I read a couple of your initial posts on this thread. You have quite a background. I love to see the engineering and medical type of people also passionate about literature. I think it makes for a more complete person. I think e.e. cummings was a doctor. I wish I had more mathematical aptitude, but alas, I am awfully lopsided. Just love literature. Sorry to hear of your dating mishap. I guess most of us have had a similar experience. Hope you found that right one later on. Todd

Welcome Todhill  . Glad you've come to join in the literature discussion. Blacksmithing, wow. I've never actually seen a blacksmith at work. I only know that poem about the blacksmith "under the spreading chesnut tree" that everyone seems to learn in school. Sounds interesting.

I don't think I've introduced myself formally, so here goes:

I'm a 9th grade homeschool student, but next year I'm going to Pre-IB. IB students take 100% "AP/Honors" courses, must take four years of foreign language, higher level science and higher level math, must take a certain number of fine arts (don't remember how many), and have to have some number of CAS hours. CAS is Creativity, something, Service I think. You can't do IB until you're in 11th grade, so I'll be Pre-IB, which is similar, but just Pre.

I love literature. I really do. I don't even know why. I'm also an obsessive novelist. For example, I took part in NaNoWriMo. NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month. That's where a bunch of wacky novelist write 50,000 word novels all in the month of November. It's really international. There are writers from Europe, Asia, Australia, South America and a couple from Africa (mostly South Africa).

What do I want to do when I'm grown? Well, I want to be a nurse/linguist/novelist/translator/interpretor/mother. There's a big plan about how I'm going about this, and yes, it will work. :D It starts with becoming a CNA in highschool (this one's optional but preferred). Then I'll go to LPN-RN school, meanwhile getting translator/interpretor certs, which aren't hard to get if you study foreign languages, which I'm doing right now. I'm specifically working on my ASL out of school, because I'd never go hungry with one of those translating certs. I don't really need to do anything but write to become a novelist. When I'm done with LPN-RN school, I'll work my way through school again in linguistics. Maybe I'll throw in an English minor that time around, cause it will be easier to double up. Somewhere in there, or afterwards, I'll get married. A tough plan, but completely plausible. I'll just have to stick to it.

The thing about those, is I'll cover all my interests, and all my bases. :D If I have an RN license as well as a ASL translator's cert, I'll never have to worry about some bread on the table. Not that life will be completely luxurious, but I'll probably not be unemployed for long amounts of time.

Well, thank-you for the welcome. I hope I can sound intelligent (being only fifteen and all). But I'm really trying to read more and more literature. I think I read stuff quite a bit below my level usually. I'm currently plugging away through "The Scarlet Letter." I'm supposed to read that for school in about May, but I've found that I never enjoy anything half as much if I'm told to read it, so I think I'll read it before it's spoiled, and then read it again. :)

Miss, Welcome to the forum! Keep on posting!

Hi Rosie, Welcome to the forum. we are glad to have you in our community.

toddhil, You really sounds quite interesting. Welcome to the forum!

Virgil, Funny tale. A very similar thing happened to me. A month ago, my mother's fellows lecturers were talking about literature. I interrupted and I gave all the account of what I read and liked and stuff like this... And then the aunties looked at me as I was from anoher planet. When I mention Mill On The Floss. They give me a whole lecture that how "Reading adult books deteriorate children"

I did not get that whether I was bound to read Cinderella or Snow White? So it is the best thing to never talk about literature outside your English class or literature forum. :D

Rosie Cotton
03-29-2006, 11:50 AM
What I get whenever I talk about literature in my house is quite different. My house embraces it, but if I ever talk about something that my older sister (who's seventeen) hasn't read, she'll go: "You think you're sooooooo smart reading that don't you?" It's really obnoxious. Whenever I share a fun fact it's always, "You're trying to act like you're so smart aren't you?"

Or, another thing that will come from that same sister is this sort of thing:

I had just finished reading "Ivanhoe" and I was talking with my brothers about how Ulrica and Urfried are the same and why she changed her name and stuff. So my sister comes up and says, "Seriously, we've all read it you know."

Now since my sister has said that she hates Ivanhoe, and Ivanhoe is not a book she'd ever read, I'll say, "Really? You've read Ivanhoe?"

Then she'll say, "Yeah. You think that I don't read?"

Then it'll be next, "Who's Prior Aymer?" And she won't know. This happened with Scarlet Letter too. Yesterday I was talking with my mom about it and my sister says,
"You're not the only person who's read it you know. I've read it before too...who's Hester again?" Only the main character. Happened with "The Crucible" and "Tale of Two Cities" and "Three Musketeers" and others. All similar things happened.

Well, Rosie, I guess stuff like that tends to happen when you're young. Many people, unfortunately, don't take youth seriously. But...wisdom is ageless. And...it sounds like you know the difference between reading and "reading." Todd

At the risk of sounding dumb or old or not in with it, what is "IB"?

RobinHood3000
03-29-2006, 11:24 PM
An "elite" academic program, presumably possessing a comparatively rigourous and stringent curriculum and stressing the importance of thinking for oneself and development into well-rounded Renaissance folk. The "IB" stands for "International Baccalaureate."

Hello everyone, I'm the new kid!

I feel like the foreign new kid too; everyone seems to be American, whilst I am from the good ol' United Kingdom. Ah well, it is not important.

I recently decided to put my new found hobby of reading literature to good use, and therefore I start a literature degree from home in October. I'm very excited as well :D

My main hobby is music; I play guitar and also write songs and generally take great interest in anything with a rythm. But I am also a keen reader, although I had a spell when I wouldn't pick up a book (I was a rebellious teenager, 'I wasn't never gonna read a book again!') But after leaving school, I recently rediscovered the joys of the noble novel. So I decided to sign up on here, and meet some new interesting people.

Anyway, that is all for now; just a quick hello from me. If anyone wants to talk with me I have put my msn address on my profile, feel free to add me.

Thank You,
Adam

Hey everyone, just thought I should introduce myself and this seems like the perfect place to do so. Please forgive me if I mess anything up somehow, I am still trying to figure out how some things on the site work.

Well, I am finishing up my second year at a community college here in Southern California. But I work so much it seems impossible for anyone to finish jr. college in two years. I plan on majoring in Anthropology. Studying this field though makes for an interesting life as a Christian, so sometimes I am sort of a flip flop. But whenever I am not working or in class, I am always caught with a novel in my hands.

When I was filling out my profile, I laughed when it asked me my favorite author...I have got so many! I like Tolkein, Bram Stoker, H.R. Haggard, and Mary Webb just to name a few. I guess you could say I like adventure / fantasy. I tried to read Jane Austen one time, and it was a bit of a disaster. I am sure I will get back to her later though. I read for pure enjoyment, but I seriously appreciate those out there who know these authors' works on such an intimate level. Some of you guys on this site are so smart that I look forward to being a part of it!

I don't know if it is just California, but nobody reads anymore! That is why I decided to join this site. It is amazing how some people just don't even care to listen about "some book" you read. As a twenty year old, I can't say that I have read hundreds of books, but it is sad to hear that so many people my age read so few.

Anyway, this is just an introduction...I think there will be plenty of time for me to ramble later.

Hi, new to the forum, looking for the name of a book to which all I have is a passage, but this looks like quite an interesting place.

Where's the best place to ask if people recognize a passage from a novel?

Possibly in the general literature thread or the quote thread. And welcome to the forum! :thumbs_up

Michael Crichton = genius

Agatha Christie is wonderful, as well, but it all depends on your tastes.

Hello, my name here is Bibliophila because I love books - more specifically, reading them! I'm a brand new newbie, just signed up here today, so I thought I'd introduce myself.

I'm nearly 42 (incredible! How did that happen?!), I'm at ART COLLEGE, hooray!!! doing a 5-year part time degree in "Contemporary Crafts". That's ceramics and glass and wood and metal and plastics and anything else you fancy throwing in, too. Only started in September and I'm loving it. Being at college 20+ years after everyone else is like being let loose in the proverbial sweet shop: there is so much wonderful stuff there to be explored and enjoyed and savoured and experienced!

Can't remember how I discovered The Literature Network (a Google search no doubt) but I've read Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment (it's brilliantly written; now I know why he's considered an author of classic literature) and I'm half way through his Brothers Karamazov, too. I can't wait to work my way through more of what's on offer - it's meat and drink to my soul!

I have a little, now elderly, dog: a Cairn Terrier who is called Maisie. We live on our own in a pleasant little flat in the South West of England, in beautiful Cornwall in fact. It's wonderful here, a very healing place to be. I play the cello, go to church at The Salvation Army (if ever you're in trouble, go to them, they're great - ordinary people living ordinary lives with extraordinary love. Hope you don't mind me saying all this, but my life wouldn't be what it is today without them...)

I love making things with my hands; in fact I can't NOT make things! Anything from crochet and knitting to sanding down the furniture to reveal the beauty of the wood underneath the stain or paint; handweaving and handspinning, jobs around the house (so long as they involve an electric jigsaw or hammer drill!); there's always something to do around me!

Don't know how often I'll be posting, too soon to tell really, but I am looking forward to reading and considering and studying more literature through this site. Whoever had the idea first of all: "Thanks, it's great!!"

Ta ta for now

Best wishes to all

Bibliophila

Depends what you like, but try Dostoevsky's "Crime and Punishment". I think that if you like Dickens you'll like this because it's detailed like Dickens but in a very different vein... much less caricature, much more analysis of the individual's inner life. Sounds heavy but I found it a real page-turner!

Or you could just go to the list of authors and choose one you've never read before, or an old favourite. Life is for living - be brave, take a risk!

Happy reading

Bibliophlia, welcome. You sound like an incredibly interesting person. It's nice to have someone my age (I'm just a little older) around. I hope you enjoy it here and stick around. The Brothers Karamzov is a great novel.

Hi Bibliophila, sounds like you're set up quite nicely. I share some of your passion for craft. I work with metal (blacksmithing). I also share your love for Crime and Punishment. Read it four times and plan to read it more. I agree, it's brilliant. I'll have to pick up Brothers...I'm a fellow newbie. Welcome. Todd

My name is Sarah. I enjoy singing world folk music (especially from the Republic of Georgia) and drawing comics. I've taken six semesters of Russian, but that was a while ago, and I spent a couple months in Peru when I was in high school.

I'm joining because I would like to read peoples comments and discuss literature, especilly this summer, when I'll have a 9-5 internship and will need some intellectual stimulation!

Reading Anna Karenina and Brave New World right now, but I must admit that my favorite books are Hitchhiker's Guide, Good Omens, Ender's Game, and the like. I really enjoyed 1984, and Shakespeare comedies are the bees knees. Everyone should cross-dress all the time, I think. Twelfth Night beats up every other play in the world and then goes out to eat a sandwich.

It's hard to say what my least favorite books are, because I don't finish them and forget about them. For instance, I can't stand most academic writing and I forgo philosophy for poetry. Ways With Words by Shirley Brice Heath, however, is one piece of academic writing which I will probably re-read, and would reccomend to anybody who finds interest in linguistics, sociology, discourse, and the development of story-telling.

Can anyone tell that I'm really supposed to be writing a paper right now?

Hi

I guess that i will introduce myself. I found this website looking for info on A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce and I decided that maybe I finally found a forum that I like.

Well anyway here is a little something about myself. I love to swim and to read and I have also started collecting different things to do with books and movies. (I am trying to own all Matt Damon movies, Nora Roberts books and a lot of the classsics!) I am a senior in high school and we have 2 months left. When i go to college i am going to study English and Secondary Education, because i want to be a middle school English/ Language arts teacher! Also one day when i have enough money saved i want to open a bookstore.

So there you go a little bit about me!
