Actually, I find you don't get sick without getting tired first for the most part.

The whole day I spent it home
Sitting in my room alone
Not knowing what to do and I wonder
Why sometimes things are so harder
To be handeled alone with no help
To be saught and not bailing for help
Things seem so dull with no one roaming by
Posting in a thread or even say hi
Why should I be alone in this world
With no lover to whom I can say a word
"Alone" is a title of a book
I wrote for a life that was hooked
Nowhere in this univers and here
I'm still handling the pain I could not bear

darling Tal,
whenever I look at the pictures of you in that wild beautiful wood I feel as if time stands still and even the faeries are sitting on logs and in the trees enjoying watching you play and the wonder of you.
so you teach everyone how to slow down and I am positive magically it will happen
better yet teach us in Estonian and that alone will make people take their time to just understand what you are saying. You really are wise and gentle.

Greetings, friends, and also to the many people who arrived during my absence!
Life has come to a steady simmer the past months, and hopefully I will soon enough have much more time to show my ID in this beloved forum I have missed. I remain a mere 5 weeks away from graduation from nursing school, requiring extensive diligence, and I just completed my preceptorship (much like an internship) at a local intensive care unit, where, also, I may get hired after getting licensed.
Despite the hectic months I feel to have experienced, you will all feel happy that I have not, however, neglected reading and writing (the third play in progress, and poetry always flowing from my pen). I expect some good upcoming discussions, because I have much to compensate for my time gone. :)

I can hardly wait for today.
Usually a few times during the spring and summer, a friend and I visit a small island near Portland, Oregon (where I live) called Sauvie Island on our bicycles. The challenge: we circumvent a large section of the island, stretching about 16 miles (almost 26 kilometers). We always have a wonderful time, but my legs ache for days afterwards, and the scenery appears absolutely stunning! Only few roads connect on Sauvie Island, as it mostly consists of immense gardens, forests, riverborders, lakes, farms, and several trails for hiking and bicycling.
Wish me luck! ;)

Ugh, as a following for my last post in this thread, as expected, my legs ache, when I walk, I feel like I waddle, and I slept heavily last night out of exhaustion.
The scenery looked beautiful as always - beautiful weather (something rare in Oregon, one of the most rainy states of the U.S.), flowers everywhere, some wildlife, and nearly empty roads and trails.
Hopefully, if I go again soon, I will get some pictures and post them, though I do not know why I did not this time. :p

My son Clayton last year was asked to enter a competition for one of the businesses he works for and the golf tourney was to be televised. He had not had time to play golf the whole season before so , while I was busy going thru the shops to find a really great leather glove for a lefthander, he went to a practise place and bought about four hours worth of time and balls and practised. That night we had to go to pharmacy for allsorts of creams and bandages, he had literally no skin on the palm of that hand.He was in agony. But the trooper he was, he went the next day and well.....he was awesome. birdied all over the place. What a guy.

Well, that is your right, but I happen to disagree :)

The thing is, the premise of the game is pretty nice, and it has it's moments, but it gets stopped every other second when they go for 1st down they have a play and stop, 2nd down, a play and stop again. There are a gazzillion breaks etc from the game. It's nice to watch on TV, but last saterday I had the chance to see a game of the Amsterdam Admirals live. At least I now know the purpose of the cheerleaders. An hour of actual play spread out over three hours. They have a lot of entertaining to do.

If you don't know the Amsterdam Admirals, they're the best team in Europe :D Nothing compared to the NFL ofcourse.

chmpman
05-21-2006, 07:38 PM
I would say the continual breaks create tension and expectation in the viewer. Anyway, from my impression, going to live games is supposed to be an opportunity to get drunk and yell a lot, rather than actually watch the game. Were you at least able to do this?

Also, I've never heard of the Admirals, and am not familiar at all with the European game of American football.

I wasn't too serious in my response to Aimus. I only meant that when people go to live games they typically are so far separated from the action on the field (especially to us with bad eyesight) that one must create his/her own action in unison with the crowd around one. But being from Montana we don't have much for professional sports, other than bullriding which I refuse to get into, and so I'm only speculating.

Sitting by my side.

The look she sends
Touching my soul
Looking through

I took a break from the literature network for my first year of college. :-)

Thank God finals are over.

This poem was nominated poem of 2005 for the best
poem, written by an African kid...

When I born, I Black,
When I grow up, I Black,
When I go in Sun, I Black,
When I scared, I Black,
When I sick, I Black,
And when I die, I still black..
And you White fella,
When you born, you Pink,
When you grow up, you White,
When you go in Sun, you Red,
When you cold, you Blue,
When you scared, you Yellow,
When you sick, you Green,
And when you die, you Gray..
And you calling me Colored ??

Why is it when a pretty girl smiles at me and says "could you..." I automatically say yes bafore hearing the rest of the sentence. I never actually want to help.

Awww, doesn't it suck? A universal weakness but you'll get over it, NOT! :p

Figure out a standard reply which is not yes and practice it, a question usually does the trick. :D

what kind of society has revolution as just another cliche of pop culture?

what do you do when everything has been tried, and society has failed for them all?

do you join the little clique of revolutionaries or the little clique of anarchists or the little clique of chaos-mongers?

little societies of themselves.

inescapable, this control.

Anybody read Watership Down? A band of rabbits search for a new home after their previous warren is destroyed. A classic retelling of the Hero's tale, only with rabbits.

In one part, the travelers come across another warren filled with large, magnificent rabbits. Only these rabbits seem a bit strange. They are incurious to the point of complacency. They have forgotten the old tales. They have no use for tricks or cunning. And the most curious thing of all: rabbits sometimes disappeared. Whenever that happened, when a rabbit would simply vanish from the warren, the other rabbits were not allowed to ask where that rabbit was or what might have happened to him; they simply acted as though that rabbit had never existed.

Interesting book.

"I know a boy of your age that was intent on reading through the whole Spengler. He did. And he went mad." - Writer Banev from "Ugly Swans" by Strugatski.

Well, we are just reading a short book about a hundred pages long what you could call a summary, but you can never be too sure, so check us about after a week in MSN or so to see if we have lost our marbles or not. :p

Some thoughts to ponder (of the average person, of course, and depending on one's learning style - visual, audio, kinesthetic, tactile, etc.):

You learn . . .
10% of what you read,
20% of what you hear,
30% of what you see,
50% of what you see and hear,
70% of what you discuss,
80% of what you experience,
95% of what you teach.

imthefoolonthehill
06-05-2006, 02:44 PM
i don't know if the percentages are true, but I do know that I never really understood Algebra and Calculus until I started teaching it.

Come to think of it, I didn't understand Geometry until then...

You'd be talking about something like factoring and they'ed sit there and ask why until you reduced it down to the commutative property or something like that, and then they'd say, "oh."

and then you'd see how it was all built together, almost like taking apart an electric drill.

"I don't understand how my students can be so stupid. I explain them the subject for the first time - they don't understand. I explain for second time - and they still don't understand. I explain them for third time and i already start to understand it, but they still don't!"

How do I get into these perdicaments? My boss asked if I would consider moving my office. Why, might you ask? Because the newly promoted guy wants it. Do I give it up and keep the peace or keep my office and perhaps be the target of the new guys grudge?

ALGERNON
All women become like their mothers. That is their tragedy. No man does. That's his.

JACK
Is that clever?

ALGERNON
It is perfectly phrased! and quite as true as any observation in civilised life should be.

JACK
I am sick to death of cleverness. Everybody is clever nowadays. You can't go anywhere without meeting clever people. The thing has become an absolute public nuisance. I wish to goodness we had a few fools left.

ALGERNON
We have.

JACK
I should extremely like to meet them. What do they talk about?

ALGERNON
The fools? Oh! about the clever people, of course.

JACK
What fools!

well the best advice I can give you is to stop this probel at the source...during lunch or at some time when ye have many witnesses walk up to the n00b and rip his head off with a stapler...and poor salt down his bleeding stump of a neck. Otherwise they will keep asking you to relocate your office at a whim...trust me...and after your third decapitation ye start to get used to the shrieks of horror...thats not horror thats respect and envy! :D
