Everyone is extremely comfortable in their little Girls Only place. It is a lovely place, situated in a turret of a very large castle. Naturally, the room is round, and windows look out at a magnificent acreage below.

The fragrance of plums permeates the air, as Kiz_paws has a penchant for scented candles, and there is a lot of giggling going on, in this special place.

"Yes, do come in", the girls call out to a smiling vin1391....

I've missed so much in my absence!!

I was going to ask if there were and scones left, but seeing as they turned out to be poison, I suppose I'd better not. Muffin anyone?? :D **produces a plateful of freshly-baked confections**.

Ooh I believe I've had the chinese tea. It's quite strong, if I remember correctly. I'm not partial to coffee myself, but if you mix it with hot chocolate and top it with whipped cream, I'm in! I can't say no to a café mocha!!

Yes indeed, these plump velvety cushions take years off my visage, what with their comfort and all!

**the freshly baked confections that Classic Charm produces interest our band of hungry girls**

Whatever happened to the good old tried and tested method of just 'slappping' all your biscuits in no order on a plate only small enough to hold one?

Whatever happened to the good old tried and tested method of just 'slappping' all your biscuits in no order on a plate only small enough to hold one?

We all learned that it's not a good idea to do that. Because accidents can happen.
Imagine putting biscuits that you've just dipped in chocolate on top of each other and later trying to get them apart again. Trust me, it does not work. All you'll manage to do is break the wretched things in half!

kiz_paws
03-30-2007, 06:41 PM
But Themis, what if one is sooooo hungry and there is no later? Then slapping them all on a plate to hold one isn't such a bad idea, because it is certainly more polite than stuffing all in one's mouth at once! **gasps at the shocking visions this produces**

It could be a lot of things koa, maybe you are stressed or sick or tired? When the body is sick sometimes it craves extra nutrition.

Ill join in the tea party now! I would bring refreshments but I am afraid of initiating a second round of being poisoned. :p

Koa
03-30-2007, 07:12 PM
No I'm not sick nor particularly stressed, I don't feel it's the kind of "I-want-food" thing of when I'm nervous. I have been working quite a lot, well not that much but more than usual, but I don't think it's that either. It will make me very fat

Hi Koa! Pleased to meet your acquaintence **curtsies**

If you are feeling like you need to eat lots, try to eat things that do not add up in calories, that always works. Maybe start off with a good breakfast, which power starts the day, then eat several small meals (instead of having three 'square meals' -- which is how it was done in the past). Put lots of vegetables in the diet, and water, too. You won't get fat, I promise! :)

Wait wait... which person with an insane craving for food would choose healthy food and veggies? Of course all I want is chocolate and yummy things... vegetables are not satisfying in that sense!
Thankfully water is my favourite drink ever and the supermarket had ran out of the juice I wanted...

Wait wait... which person with an insane craving for food would choose healthy food and veggies? Of course all I want is chocolate and yummy things...

Yah, I hear what you are saying ... but I came up with a delicious way to enjoy 'healthy food and veggies' -- it is all in how you cook it, je suppose. For example, you could stir-fry the veggies and then wrap 'em up in a nice pita (or whatever 'pancake' thing you want to use to wrap them up in). These are surprizingly tastey I found ... and weight watchers actually does have some nice desserts to chose from, to conquer a sweet tooth.

I don't pump out advice mindlessly, though, I have to tell you -- I once weighed a lot more than I do right now (and I still have to battle weight), and I have such a penchant for cheese and chocolate, but anyhow, hope you don't mind how I have gone on here .. this is girl talk, afterall, and I think that all us girls worry about our weight at one time or another.... ;)

Koa
04-01-2007, 06:22 PM
Sure I don't mind, and well I have stopped worrying seriously about weight becuase it just sucks to, they either accept me as I am or f off ;) but at the same time these days made me worry about becoming seriously too fat in an u healthy way (I'm just a chubby girl so far). And yeah true veggie can b yummy that way but then it means you actually have to prepare it and be at home etc... and I usually buy veggies only on the day when I'm sure I'm going to eat them because I could easily buy them and then not use them for the next days and then they get too old... well some of them, or just eat a bit of them and the rest will be forgotten... hard to have the good doses when you live alone eheheh.
Ok from tomorrow I'll try to stop this thing and eat more regularly (especially after today's excesses, right Nighty? ;)), just if I am at uni I just buy random food (i try to bring my own but it's not always possible or sometimes i'ts not enough on a long day) and if I'm hungry I just can't study... :S

Good that you stay away from Nescafe products. :)

Here is a pic of my favorite coffee:

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s122/kiz_paws/donut_and_a_coffee.jpg

If you cannot get this brandname of coffee (my deepest sympathies, as this is the Cat's Miaow for sure!), then purchasing whole bean coffee and grinding it yourself will definately give you a to-die-for cup of brew each and every time.

Apparently a hand-turned coffee grinder is the best, but these are difficult to find, and I believe antiques (they only make electric ones now), so that means very expensive. My electric grinder serves my purposes, and I make pretty darn good brew, I do have to say...

**slurps coffee from a huge mug**

As for in the mood for tea -- after supper tonight, I made a lovely pot of blueberry tea in my brown betty teapot, had one wee cup, but my hubby drank the whole thing! But no matter, I am brewing some coffee, the perfect before bed beverage (lolol!) --- hey, say that three times fast, I dare ya!

Thanks, girls for sharing those delightful pix of your beloved pets (I so love animals!!). I did have to smile for that dog in the driver's seat, lol!

Below is a photo of the day that I thought that Pepper would look dashing in a baby bonnet, lol. I am still amazed that she allowed me the time to do this. Note that the mat she is standing on is her kitchen mat. HER mat. When she is in the kitchen, instead of being underfoot (which dogs have a tendency to be when one is preparing food), we have trained her to remain on her mat. Not without a price, mind you, lol. I have to give her an occasional carrot coin to reward the 'good girl on the matty' as I say to her.

Sorry, I am rambling -- here is the photo:

Very nice pics. The kitties are so sweet looking and Tobasco is gorgeous. When I was little I lived on a farm, and my sister had an Appaloosa. I think horses are wonderful, but I confess I still harbor a fear of them.

Pepper of course is extremely cute, and very fetching in her bonnet. She reminds me of a little guy I had called Nicky.

Well, I should call it a night, feeling kind of tired and like I am coming down with something. :yawnb: G'night.

Er, he should be able to count to at least 20! (if he counted on fingers and toes...we won't discuss any other body parts). ;) Ok, just being silly. I am sure a boyfriend could count as a pet, if we define pet as "warm and friendly life form that will sit on your lap". :p

Also, sorry, but I get very defensive, I have a headache and I feel pretty PO'd right now. (and unreasonable too, yes I feel unreasonable too.)

*edit* thanks for the mug, I will take it in a to go cup until I feel more human. :)

We all have our bad days Kathy. I'm i've had a pritty nasty day today. Couldnt go to work because i had to make friends with the loo.
Hope you feel better soon Kathy! Maybe that mug of magical faery drink will be what the doctor ordered as they say!

Yes, Kathy, that mug will take care of all yer ills, trust us!

As for opti being too 'kitty-ed out', I propose that we post something that might appeal to her... hmmm, what do you suppose.....

How about this cool scorpian ring that I want to buy from a local silversmith? Nice, eh?

Awwwww, don't worry about that, me of all people, can surely understand the depth of sensitivity when it comes to our little pets.... we actually DO think of them as kids, lol (I laughed at your saying that, because I have to check myself, too!!)

So yes indeed, do have another spot of this delightful toffee-coffee, and I am glad that you liked that silver ring -- I really really want it. BAD!!! :)

And that ring?? OMG, i love it soooo much, but I am trying to negotiate having it made for a girl's hand. The smallest they are going to make the band size is size man's 9. A tad too big for my paws, if I do say so.... grr!

Glad you like the ring, too, Niamh and drama ! It truly is something completely different!

Thanks again, drama!

Now, since it is that season again, I think that I shall have our friend the chef make us some hot cross buns (dripping with delicious vanilla icing in the crosses atop the sweet buns).

**Kiz_paws says this because she hates cooking, though will do it if necessary**

**It is not necessary in this case, because there is an invisible chef just waiting to make scrumptious treats for the girls to enjoy**

I could have sworn we had some tea in here a while ago...I actually bought some tea today. I went grocery shopping which I utterly hate, although it wasn't too bad today.

I got a variety pack of black teas plus one box of chai. Sooo good! I really love the chai tea from Stash (http://www.stashtea.com/w-111014.htm). It tastes good, the tea is organically grown (no pesticides/artificial fertilizers) and you know...the box is actually pretty attractive.

Yep! the very band. They were not very good, but i did have a good night in the end. While we where queing for the gig we started to talk to this couple from northern ireland who were behind us. The girl jen had gragged her boyfriend rory to the gig, so what happened was Jen and my sis headed off to the front while rory and myself stayed away from the mob of hormones and stood by the bar. I completely forgot that. Havent seen that in years. It was really the only good one out of them all.

Yes, you are absolutely correctamundo, Niamh. And Kathy, I also forgot about that, thanks for reminding -- now, lets say we watch it!

Is there any of that popcorn left? I want to munch away before I get my nails wet with polish, cuz if there is anything that I can't stand -- it is ruining my nailpolish with kernals of corn bashing them! :flare:

That's why you put even a small wedding on the shoulders of your bridesmaids and mother....hehehe...

I'm just kidding. I've just been making sure I don't search for a dress in a thousand different locations, or make it so that I am going to a different restaurant every night trying to figure out what my guests might want.

It is all up to the bride of what she wants essentially (the fiancee isn't doing much :D - he just needs to get the tux, rings, pay for the honeymoon and show up)

Believe it or not, I really wasn't in the mood to plan a wedding. The idea was so overwhelming...but with caring people like my mom and maids, everyone kind of specializes in their own area and it somehow falls in place.

Eh? I don't get it. I am against marriage for so many other reasons, not just because of that... even if I were to do it, it certainly wouldnt be like that, that's so bourgeois, no offence... I would only marry for practical reasons (money management or similar), with a signature on a piece of paper and no more people than the husband and two witnesses or how many are needed. And not before I'm 40 or something.

And anyway, I'm even far for even getting a date, let alone a boyfriend and all... so I don't have to worry, that will never happen. I don't think I have anything to share in that sense with people who have had a normal love life.

Nope...that's it...besides a veil and/or a tiara. My church (pentacostal) as far as I know will let me wear it.

Is pentecostal a division of christianity? I'm not sure I've heard of it. Weird, here (well not here cos I'm not there, I mean in Italy) that's a big no-no and even if it's the middle of summer and people go for a dress like that, they have a little jacket or something on their shoulders during the ceremony.
Argh, there are people who get wedding dresses that are all sexy...that's ridicolous, in a church. If you're being religious go for it, but go for it till the end, don't pretend (random rant over)

Pentacostal is a division of Christianity. I am not quite sure yet what it means exactly. I've never really understood all the divisions (Episcopal, Nazarene, Methodist, etc.)

Don't worry, no offense taken.

Believe it or not some of the gowns I've seen are way too revealing to even think of stepping in a church with (In fact, I would hope that someone who chose a gown of the sort would think twice)...

I can see your view point on two witnesses and a signature Koa. At one point I was going to do the same.

My wedding ideas are based off of the idea I would love to have my close family there (unfortunately I've got quite a number of close family) and one thing I've always wanted out of my marriage is for my pastor to be there for our vows. To me, the church is ideal because of what the vows of marriage mean to me...

Hope there is no offense in any way.

Nah why should there be. I just have very cynical ideas about couples and I'm a quite total atheist so that means nothing to me, but that's just me and I know there are other opinions in the world ;) I just find the traditional idea of marriage is closer to my idea of a nightmare  And since I have quite a problem with the opposite sex (a thought I had happily eradicated but it came back recently), it just puts me in the worst of moods to see young people having a succesful love life :lol::crash:

You're welcome littlewing. I was raised catholic as well, but we didn't practice much. It was mostly holidays. When I ended up in the pentacostal church with my oldest brother...I was so happy that I could sing and dance and worship so freely as you mention. ...but in the super-mega-religious america...that gets me wondering.
Mmm, not everybody in America is extremely religious, many attend church only on holidays and many people are not religious at all. The thing about America is that it is a huge and diverse nation. The America depicted in the media and pop culture is not particularly representative of the millions of people who live here.

Grace, this is probably the first time I have spoken to you, so please let it be a phrase of congratulations on the engagement, my good wishes for your future, and my admiration for your beautiful dress! As others have said, the time shall indeed go quickly (mine did, lol, and my wedding day was a day of absolute wonder and perfection, wished I could go back and do it again, lol).

Koa, perhaps you have not found your soul mate as of yet, and thus have tainted ideas of living 'forever' with someone. I used to be like that, honest. I used to say that I'd never get married, because I had never found just the right person. Oddly enough, when I was least expecting romance, my husband pranced into my life. I fought it, but he won, and the rest is history. C'est la vie. *hugs to you*

Oh no I love fancy clothes except they tend to look a bit odd on me..well except for the one dress .... But then again in egypt the getting married and the wedding are 2 differant things, the wedding is the party so Id have a dress for that, and for the Henna but not for the actual marriage. In India, the bridal wear is usually in red colour, or in some shade of red, rust, or pink, but mostly it is red. Some consider red as auspicious colour, or colour of happiness. The dress up of a typical Indian married woman changes after marriage. If I dont marry a Hindu, I will have wedding in both ways, the one at the guys side and one a Hindu style wedding :D Although I dont know at this point what's going to happen, but, my favourite part of a wedding is henna :D I just love the smell of it and the colour.

When i was i florence they gave you those plastic cloak things. they were blue and looked like big bibs. Hence why i went out and bought a shawl to wrap around my shoulders! and yes they give them to you if you have a shoestring tee.

Oh, yes, the brides looks pretty. Henna is not a flower, it's made from henna leaf, its a powder made into a paste and applied on hands and even feet. The designs are very pretty.

Just like what Night has shown.

The same happens in India too, a night before the marriage, there is a henna party, or mehendi (hindi for henna), or sangeet. It's almost like a festival, everyone is happy, singing and dancing. All the girls, women get their hands painted with henna. In this party usually guys are not allowed, but as soon as singing and dancing starts everone joins in.

Great ! She must be having a whole new experience. Even I have not seen a Christian wedding, the one in white gown. I think the dress type depends upon the place too. I have a Indian Christian friend, he got married a year back, and his wife wore a sari for the wedding, it was in a church. He was telling me that he and his wife had to go to the church for I guess 40 days prior to the wedding, and then there was marriage counseling also by a priest. It was different.

Yes, we have to do a pre-marriage counseling thing before we get married. My fiance doesn't attend my church (and that is where we are getting married) so he does have to attend for awhile.

For someone unfamiliar with christian weddings, my maid is having so much fun thinking about the parties to plan and the ceremony. So she is very excited. I am taking them all to see my dress this weekend.

I will definitely try to put some pictures up when I get married. I am not completely aware of what exactly we will be doing in the ceremony besides the vows...I know some take communion.

Oh Kathy...not bbq sauce on my gown...I arranged it so that it is chicken and brisket...not messy ribs! I'll wear a bib or something :p

...but i do remember how fun it was to wear a hat...we could not enter the church unless we had one on...

A hat? That's weird, again in Italy you must take off your hat when you enter a church...

Italy maybe a little more strict.

No wonder

Koa, I didn't think you'd take offense, just being careful because it is never my intention to bother someone.

I still don't see where and how I should have taken offense. Ah no wait, now I get what you were saying

Mmm, not everybody in America is extremely religious, many attend church only on holidays and many people are not religious at all. The thing about America is that it is a huge and diverse nation. The America depicted in the media and pop culture is not particularly representative of the millions of people who live here. .

The America I learnt about in the media is far from religious... until a few years ago at least - it meant excess and novelty and stuff like that. The first time I heard about America being religious I couldn't believe it. But I started to pay more attention and I see it everywhere, in filsm, in forums... I think this forum has a big balance of religious people because of the religion section, though.

Oh I just needed a good old cliché sentence

I found this website :

It says that basically 76% of Americans belong to some type of religion. I'm not sure of the accuracy.

76% say that they belong to a religion...one thing I have learned from statistics class is that in doing surveys, people like to fabricate things a bit.

Not trying to be a brat, just kind of sleepy. I know of a lot of people in CA who say they are religious...but there are fewer people who I've seen as religious.

Belonging to a religion isn't quite the same as actually being a religious person.

The America I learnt about in the media is far from religious... until a few years ago at least - it meant excess and novelty and stuff like that
Well, what I meant to point out was your use of the term "super-mega-religious america". You say you see that in films, which is a fictional portrayal. In other words, I don't think it is an accurate statement. Regarding forum posters, sure, I guess there are many here who consider themselves religious and happen to be American. There are also a number who post that they are atheists...I can't say with any degree of accuracy because that is not a section of the forum I frequent.

Please don't misunderstand, I am not trying to be argumentative. It is that categorizing a nation of millions as "super mega religious" seems a misnomer to me.

I hope there is a pot of decaf on, I can't drink regular coffee this late at night. How about some Finnish coffee bread?

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h56/kathycf/picSrP3aK.jpg

In years past my town had a very large Finnish population, and this bread is sold in many of the convenience stores around here. It is a braid, that is slightly sweet and moist and has cardamon in it. Really, really good. :)

Kathy, that bread was totally awesome, wished someone would sell it out my way! (cuz I am too lazy to bake it)

And drama, you are right again, hugs to such a nice girl!

Oh, and by the way, there are many tea drinkers who are not getting their fair shakes (as they say), so I have put on some hot water for a really nice cup of peach blossom tea. This is particularly nice with a smidge of honey! Enjoy :thumbs_up

yes, credit cards are bad. it's such a bunch of crap. I had one, and I swear, they monitored my account just looking for any little reason to increase the interest rate. Once I had to change banks, and since I paid my bill online, I had to update my bank information on the internet. When I went through the process of changing the bank information, I got a message back stating that the update could take several days to process.
In the meantime, my bill was due. So I called customer service and explained my situation over a week before the stupid thing was due, and expressed concern that I might get charged a late fee and that my credit score would be damaged. The CSR was rude and said that she couldn't help me and she didn't know why I was calling (well, because I don't want to pay any more interest and because the late fees are so expensive). So they don't get my business anymore. And for a while, I carried a balance, and they made interest money on it, but they're not getting it anymore because they are greedy pigs. So there.

I'm completely creditcardless and intend on going on like that. I even find it freakish that here in the UK they so often pay in the shops with their bank card... I use good old cash. For buying online (which I usually only do for plane tickets) I have a sort of debit card which I recharge, so I put, say 200 euros on it, by my ticks and then put more money whenever it's empty. And I can use it at a cash machine to get cash anyway, so no money wasted.
But I think my UK bank card would work just the same way online, this one I was talking about is my Italian thing, since my Italian cashcard doesn't let me buy online.

Did this make any sense?

I use my c/c card to but things online. Mainly on Amazon because they stock things that i cant get over here in Ireland- Like Most Haunted/live dvds. So i was always puting money off the card everyweek to pay these. My problem started when i started using them i shops as well. I could pay €400 of it a month but end up spending €500 so thats where it all built up.... evil pieces of plastic!:flare: *takes scissors from Kiz and attacks card* Only problem now is i can still use amazon as it holds your account details.:(

Yeah exactly. I had never heard the word 'debit card' before coming here though, at first I wasn't sure what it was all about...

I use cash most of the time, I find it weird to pay small amounts with a card, in italy we don't do it that much yet...here you see people at the supermarket paying less than one pound with a card, I find it funny.

On another topic, yesterday I had a very girly night with my friends.

Before Kathy can say licketty-split, the aroma of fresh Guatamalan Especiale floats through the air.

Is it good?

I'll say! Can't wait for a mug of that stuff.

And since Kathy is member of the week, I have some wonderful chocolate to share with everyone... it is huge slabs of Toblerone, behold my dear friends:
