Vacuums just do nothing for me, I hate floor care! I can't explain it but all forms of floor care, be it vacuuming or sweeping or what have you, inspires something akin to rage. Now if you show me a new, fancy washer/dryer, I'd be happy as a clam...a new vacuum would just remind me that someone needs to actually use it. :p

I love my new vacuum!!!!! Love it!!!! It's a little heavy but I just can't help looking at my floors and smiling.
Somebody quick - Are my ovaries showing?
No, only your practicality. Just once I'd love to find a lightweight vacuum with a strong motor that didn't break down in two years! I hate going to bed with the feeling that I've got a whiplash everytime I vacuum and mop the house.

I've made a rule in my household that every practical gift better be followed by something sweet, sexy or cute and impractical...It's made the holidays alot more enjoyable. I must admit, I would love some new kitchen cabinets or a large capacity washer/dryer...I hate the trips to the laundry:sick:

HAHA Hey vaccume cleaners are cool, but since you dont want to be selfish you have to share with the guy who got it for you, its only fair to let him use it 50% + another 20% for being soooo sweet to buy it :D mhm mhm. yep yep yep! I did this, for christmas I got dad a tool kit, and put my car keys in it, so he could fix it ;) these are very thoughtful gifts. women pull them off better.

is it the kind that you hang your clothes up inside of the dryer and they come out hung and steamed? I know someone with a dryer like that. She got it for free with "points" from her husband's work. She said that for the price she couldn't do better. I think she likes it.

Brilliant
I do wonder if men think it's okay to buy practical gifts for us because that seems to be all that is out there for them. What fun gifts are out there for men? I used to buy selections of foreign coffees and cigarettes, out-of-print books for my husband. As he got older, he stopped smoking, stopped reading and had a less discriminating palate. I started buying him clothes; but he continued to wear the faded, ugly things...:(

I wonder if I'd have to rewire the house and put in new fuse boxes to get all these wonderful conveniences:(
I think they design vacuums and lawn mowers heavy so that you either have to be a body builder or marry a body builder to use them :bawling:
It is entirely acceptable to buy practical gifts for oneself for Christmas:thumbs_up

So, what did you get your wife, Comedian?
*The Comedian walks in, dressed in full-drag. Someone mistakes him for papaya. The Comedian grins. "Works every time" he whispers to himself in perfect falestto*
Mrs. Comedian received a lovely original oil painting that she one gave favorable remarks on during a visit to a gallery a long while back: it was of a field of orange flowers that receded into the background.

:bawling: It is such a pity there is only one Comedian; What a wonderful gift!
How many husbands would remember a painting his wife admired; how many husbands would go to a gallery with his wife?
Where were you when you were wearing drag...yeah, yeah, I know Shakespeares guys always did it; but I never thought it came off quite as well as Portia in her male attire:;)

I love my new vacuum!!!!! Love it!!!! It's a little heavy but I just can't help looking at my floors and smiling. Congrats! I love clean floors and will vacuum everyday even if it is the very last thing I do before I collapse on the sofa for the evening. The house does not look any better than the community hall unless it is tidy without any bits and bobs on the floor.
I don't usually go for the very expensive vacuums because, in my opinion, they all last more or less for two years before deciding to resign so I will get something mid-range from a respectable company.
The Comedian> No need for the drag; it is always preferable to have male company who is comfortable in his identity without resorting to any disguises! :p
And excellent choice of gift :)

Vacs have a short but happy life in my house too - I think I bring about their premature demise by using them to pick up things they are not designed to swallow - one died after being force-fed plaster chippings after some redecorating...
The last one (whisper it, it's been here over five years, must be some kind of a record) was selected solely on weight - I was walking on two sticks at the time and need something upright and really light or I just could not handle it. I lifted every one on the display, to the bemusement of the saleslady - I wasn't interested in performance or even price, just 'Can I lift it onehanded?' Otherwise I'm not sure I would have chosen a purple machine with bubbles all over it to show how light it is. But it lives in a cupboard, so who's going to see it except me?

Does anybody else go on weird shopping trips? Every so often when I'm tired or something is on my mind and I'll go shopping for like one thing and I'll come out with the weirdest stuff. I've been at work a lot this weekend so on my way home today I stopped for milk I came out with, among other things: Tomato Soup, Milk, and a Video Game. Nothing weird about that except I don't like Tomato Soup and the video game is not my usual fare. One time I cam home with the Harry Potter books..
EDIT: I can't even play my video game, it's taken me an hour to get passed the first small section.

All the time. Weird shopping trips are what my life is made of. I went to the health food store to buy food and left with an Alex Grey calendar, who is the artist who did some of the artwork for Nirvana's In Utero. I also got a Yoga magazine and some incense and some candles...

My handbags are usually black too (apart from one or two brown or dark red) and extremely big to carry all the extras I drag around with me all the time.

I'm all about owls lately. I got an owl coin purse from target and this purse would go with it quite well
http://www.outblush.com/women/fashion/handbags/leather-owl-purse/
The only trouble with it is that this purse would get on my nerves I think. (hopefully that link works)
I usually have to carry something that goes across my shoulder - like some kind of woven hippie bag. Maybe I could find one with owls on it.
Oh, and I got the coolest to-go coffee cup with an owl on it.
and I got a set of carved owl bookends from Marshalls for way cheap on clearance and I have them in my living room and between them I have this years favorite reads (books on spiritual stuff that I've been reading). And at Barnes and Noble they had a green Gufo Picolo alabaster owl paperweight and I have it next to my book ends.
none of that is related to purses. but would getting an owl purse be taking it too far?

I liked the first one, papaya, but not in yellow... but that's because I don't do yellow, if people do it then fine... although it's hard to match methinks... I'm a matching freak.
My bags are black or purple, well the purples are almost all presents, people know it's easy to make me happy with anything purple. But I use blacks mostly, they go with everything, purple only goes with 50% of my clothes :D

I usually buy really cheap Target purses and that way I can buy a lot...and often :D...but there was this one purse, brown leather with these really cool gold rings on them that I spent $75 or 80 on and I thought myself so clever. However...those dang rings jingled! It drove me nuts! Jingle, jingle, jingle all the live long day...it is now hanging in my closet. :p
Shalot, I think you should go with the owl purse. I'm not a huge fan of owls, birds freak me out as a general rule but when you have a 'thing' like your thing for owls, I'm all for indulging it, which is why I have endless amounts of Viking or Thor related jewelry.

I go back and forth between purse sizes. I'll decide I want a big one, stuff it full of everything imaginable and then decide it's too heavy and bulky and go to a tiny purse that fits basically a wallet and my phone...then I decide I need more space so I get a massive one and the cycle starts all over again.

That is me! I have a lot to carry, and there are papers in it so you can do some personal business on break; then I think "Why am I carrying around so much?" then I try to downsize, and end up with a small purse stuffed to the brim. It would help if I took the time to clean them out periodically. :D

I used to carry a huge bag with my entire life stuffed into it - the first time I went out with a certain gorgeous bloke, he chivalrously handed me my my bag, buckled under the weight, and muttered, 'Typical! You have to be a weight-lifter to carry it...' so I thought, 'Right, matey, I'll show you!' and went out and bought the cutest, dinkiest little bag you ever saw, all gathered leather, soft as could be, a girlie bag. Next time we went out, he turned to me and without batting an eyelid said, ' I think I'll leave my jacket in the car - I don't suppose you have room in your bag for my wallet?' No, Sunshine, I do not - and you've only got yourself to blame. But somehow he hung around for the next twenty-odd years, so my handbags went back to being big enough to carry my entire life again - and his, as well.

I like the medium sized purse; but everything falls to the bottom. I've taken to the habit of carrying little ziplocs in the bag; but now I confuse the ziplocs...
Sometimes I buy purses with compartments, but the fabric ones tear quickly...

I think that story is so adorable Kasie!!!
I can't get started on handbags...oh dear I got so many of them! I find that I too always have to carry everyone's things in them. Often when my best friend and I go to the movies with our guy friends, we're carrying their drinks and snacks to sneak them in!
My dad spoiled me this Christmas and bought me a B. Makowsky handbag and already it's a weight lifting nightmare! Perhaps it's a good idea to clean them out once a week or something.
Speaking of the Christmas handbag....it's a cream leather hobo....so it's very light and doesn't do well with the spilling of chocolate shakes...does anyone have a good in home remedy? I'm scared of damaging the leather.

Thank, Grace - carrying his wallet was the least I could do for him - he fixed things for me all the time, he understood I was not-very-good with-mechanical-things.
Oh dear, oh dear - I went to M&S yesterday - it was only to recycle my Christmas cards - honest.... They had the recycling box right by the door, I didn't have to go inside the shop but they had this line of new spring cardigans just inside the door and there was this lovely long-line jacket style cotton cardie in blue stripes that would just go with my travel wardrobe of blue and I don't have a light-weight cardie - well, I do , but it's short and zips up to make a sweater - and it spoke to me and positively begged me to take it home with me...
Then when I got back to the car with it, I realised I had parked outside Accessorize and they had their new line of spring bags in the window and some of them were blue and I could do with a carry-on bag for my trip - I resisted their siren call though I did pop in to have a look and very nice they were too but I do love browsing in Accessorize.

There's still hope! My mum bit her nails for 52 years before she stopped.
I used to bite mine too, but I stopped a few years ago. The problem is, I'm just a really fidgety person. My hands just have to be busy. When I stopped biting my nails, I started another habit which I cannot break and it drives my friends crazy- I'm constantly twirling a curl around my fingers. That, and I still have a few other fidgety habits that I've always had. I don't really do much to take care of my nails- they have to be short when I'm working in a clinic or when I'm at the barn or they just break and get all gross. I'll get a manicure on the rare occasion I'm not going to be at the barn or working.

I don't bite my nails, but that might be partly because there's nothing to bite :p I've always kept my nails very short, first because I was playing the piano and then because I was used to that (and the fact that with my atopy I do far too much damage to my skin even with what little nails I have now). Nail polish just won't stay on my nails (it gets all "wrinkly", probably because I can't help scratching), so I very very rarely bother.

I'm fidgety too, and I think that is part of the problem. I'm a pretty high strung type individual, and I'm afraid I keep life too stressed. I think my record is something like a year or so without biting them, but I've been terrible the last couple of years:blush: I also catch myself tapping on my keyboard when I type if my thoughts aren't coming fast enough. I actually had to take up crocheting as a hobby just so I could sit with my husband and watch a TV show. Otherwise I'm always up and down and moving everywhere.

I bite my nails off too, because long nails cut your palms when you make a fist. Also, long nails get in the way when I'm playing with my bow and arrow.
Well I don't even really know the feeling of cutting fingers... I bite them, although now I only do it occasionally cos I keep them long, but a time alwys comes when I bite them all off and start again... I started doing so when I was about 15 (always been a biter before that, I remember being told off for it when I was like 3...) and by now I can even go a couple of days without nail polish and without biting. But usually it's nail polish all the way, I love it, it was the only girly thing I did for years (now I'm all girly, thought it would happen eventually...)
As for the datey things, I have no time now but I might let you know more when I have a longer time to spend online. First one was confusing...

Hey all! I hope you girls are doing fine!
I used to bite mine too, but I stopped a few years ago. The problem is, I'm just a really fidgety person. My hands just have to be busy. When I stopped biting my nails, I started another habit which I cannot break and it drives my friends crazy- I'm constantly twirling a curl around my fingers.
 Now you mention it... I think I started doing that right after I stopped biting my nails! I just never noticed the connection until now :smilielol5: And I don't think I'll ever stop twirling my hair - It is just like Edmund in the movie for Count de Monte Cristo ;) I just hope I won't grow bald because of it :p
As for the biting, I just decided it was enough... Putting nail-polish on my nails helped a lot, but it would not have helped if I had not decided to stop for real - it was just a reminder. Nowadays I've got quite long nails, because I never cut them (still bite them when they get too long ) I just think it's such a shame to cut them - I can finally show that I've quitted biting them  Childish and not practical at all, I know ;) This doesn't stop me from doing so though.

I'm terrible. I'm afraid I'm that person who still bites their nails and I can't seem to stop. I'll go for months without biting them, but then I'll stress a bit and chew them all off. All too often I'm stressed out so I seem to always be biting them.
The exact same in here. -_-

I got a manicure yesterday. I hadn't had one in a while and my hands were quite crusty looking. I sat under the UV light and sprayed some quick dry stuff on them and the manicurist told me that they were ready but to be careful. So I wandered around the mall for what seemed like an hour carefully holding my jacket and not touching anything and ignoring sales people (though it probably wasn't that long and just seemed like it since going to the mall bores me to death these days unless I'm on a specific shopping mission) and then I get in the car and bump my nail polish on the steering wheel and smudged the paint! How were my nails not dry after all that time?? I even used the spray! I thought the spray was supposed to work. I didn't want to go back and have them fix it because I didn't want to be in the mall anymore so I am sitting here with a smudge nail. And this color is dark purple and I can only pull this color off if I have it professionally done because it's so dark. If I do it myself then it just looks terrible. on the bright side, when I take the polish off I will at least have neat nails.

Shalot I had the same thing happen to me last week. I got a manicure and a pedicure done at a different place than I normally go to because it's cheaper. I had my feet under the UV light for 15 minutes and the lady told me I was good to go, knowing full well I had to put socks and boots back on. I got home and I had a sock imprint in my toenail polish :(. Not surprised though, the lady also didn't paint white tips on my french manicure. What is a french manicure without white tips?! She told me I said I didn't want them. Grrrrrrr.

I generally ignore my nails as long as they are short enough, maybe occasionally I will pop some moisteriser on them but that is about it really!
But I have a question can climate affect the speed your hair and nails grow at? since I have moved back to egypt I am back to having to cut my nails 2 or 3 times a week and my hair is growing at the rate of an inch or so a month. Thats beside the fact it has dried out and gone all icky! :(

According to sofeminine.co.u.k climate and stress can affect hair loss. So, maybe the opposite is true also. Maybe you're under less stress in Egypt then you were before and you're seeing it in your hair and nails. I'm reaching I know. Or, it could be diet. Maybe you're eating better than you were??? I don't know. At least it's not hair loss. If my hair starts to thin like that I will probably just go Sinead. I'm not sure about the nails. It seems like if you're under-nourished or stressed, your nails suffer as well as your hair.

Good morning, Nightshade and Lacra - just back from Egypt: came to conclusion that water there is 'hard' as I had to use lots of soap and shampoo and ended up with soapy scum in the basin. My skin is dry and flaky too, despite lots of sun cream - I'm used to 'soft' water, so it may take a while for me to get back to normal. Can't answer for the taste - we nish Brits were advised not to drink water from the tap! And yes, my nails grew - but I think that's more a case of what my Mum called "Lady's hands" - no work for a fortnight!

Hehehhe, I use to buy mineral water as I am afraid to drink water from the tap. The same problems with the skin and I watch my Egyptian colleagues here, they have such a soft and shining skin. What did they do to look this healthy way? I have no idea! Maybe is something related to the land we are born in: the water, the air, the sun are designed to fit perfectly... I don't know...

Well it really depends on where you are in Cairo, I actually preffer egyptian tap water to say english tap water, bu I wont drink it unless its filtered and even then I dont drink that unless its boiled anymore because it appears all the egyptians have stopped drinking it too, so just being safe!
I just discovered egyptian women use chickpea flour on their faces, not sure how exactly but that might contibute to the shinyness!

Hey everyone! Kinda new here. Hopefully I fit in!! Where I live is really hot and dry skin is always an issue. Some home rededies my mom told me about are: Using olive oil to massage your skin before bed or applying a mixture of egg, olive oil, a few drops of rose water and few drops of orange or lime juice for 10 mintues in the morning.
Wearing sunscreen is always helpful too. Prevention is key! :)

 I have to agree with you and Pip. Food is just sooooo good, but I'm figuring out the balance. I have my own set of rules that I eat by, and it normally means that I never feel like I've deprived myself of that glass of wine or a good bit of cake. Normally I just eat it if I really want it, and I even let myself have as big of a piece as I would like. Trying to tell myself no means I'll binge when I do finally give in. It's actually really cut down on the amount of overall junk that I eat.

I have the wii fit. I did the yoga while my husband sat behind me and made fun of me as I attempted to keep my balance. I loved in the beginning when I did the set up - it asked me if I fall alot when I walk. The Wii is mean. And good luck with your new fitness contraptions. My fitness contraptions are over in the corner. Unused for the most part. The only I exercise I get from them now is when I move them to run the vacuum. There is a mini-trampoline and big rubber blue ball you're supposed to do sit-ups on or something, an ab roller to assist with those horrid sit-ups again and a medicine ball. I hope you have more motivation than I have. :)

I want a wii for the wii fit. think it would be fun. and they have this new game where you can learn dances from popular songs etc which i think would be also fun but i cant afford one at the moment. They are still rediculously expensive here. My brother got one in Australia for $200 dollars when i was there. They were still about €300-400 here which is anywhere between $500-800. madness. I'm waiting for the prices to drop below 200 before buying one.

The problem for us oldies is the ankles and shoulder aches, back pain, general knakeredness and responsibilities and work and all the little things to do in a day.
I get around by bike which gives me my only real exercise other than walking the dog. (Good exercise too, but not enough I fear.)

Boxing or martial arts is an awesome workout. I took a boxing class last year and by the end of our little 3 minute fights I was thoroughly exhausted.
Try rock climbing and bouldering, maybe. It's non-impact, and provides a great full-body workout. A lot of people think it's just the arms, but it also really works your abs and legs too. You can progress from the walls that are basically ladders (i.e., what I'm stuck on) to the crazy ones where you hang upside down on tiny finger holds, so it's a challenge that changes as your abilities increase.
Plus, it's really fun and you have a great sense of accomplishment once you get to the top.

Exercise sucks. Well, that's a lie. Exercising in a gym sucks. And since I'm not allowed to run anymore (doc's orders) and I don't ride except during the winter and summer breaks, I've basically lost all muscle tone whatsoever. I count on intense riding in the summer to get me back in shape, but even that tends to put muscle only in certain places, and awkward ones at that haha. I have to say though, horse back riding is good cardio!
Oh god, Wii fit is addicting. There's one game where you are the lead in a marching band and you have to keep time with your feet and with the nunchucks. It's awesome.

The rock gym closest to me costs about $50 for a three month membership, which (when considering that a normal gym costs around $20-50 a month) isn't bad, especially since most usually have a small cardio and weights area as well. If you rent shoes and a harness, it costs a little more, but it's still a pretty good deal.
Bouldering is like rock climbing, but not really: the idea is that you have a much shorter (~15 ft?) wall and don't use a harness, but it's all about dynamic movements to get you up the wall a certain way. So, for example, a bouldering wall may have many holds on it in a certain area, but to get to the top, you have to only use 10 or so marked holds on a specific route to get up. It's very challenging. I'm not very good at it...on the scale of difficulty, which ranges from V0 to V16, I can do V1 at most, on a good day.

I normally have a tender stomach, but things have been really bad over the past 5-6 months. I've had so many bouts stomach upset that I've lost close to 10 pounds (not that the weight loss isn't good and all). Now it is almost to the point that I can drink nothing but water (again not too bad), but I am missing my morning cup of coffee or I regret it when I just drink it anyway I regret it. I can't eat fast food (Chipotle excluded), I can't eat fatty meats, and any sort of a processed food like TV dinners or instant noodles will cause me pain.
Any ideas what could be wrong, or maybe even better are there any ideas of a diet that I can eat to keep it from getting any worse? I don't really mind that I can't have fast food or that I need to eat lean protein. This is pretty much a normal diet for me since I prefer to eat healthy. I do mind that it is getting to where I am steadily dropping weight because of a lack of appetite. I don't know what could be causing it. I originally thought it was a preservative in the foods that I bought out or the volume of grease, but it just seems to keep getting worse.
I know some people have IBS and need to eat special diet for that to keep it controlled. I guess I'm hoping for something like that. I love food, and it is killing me that I can't hardly enjoy little things like a good steak dinner :(

mk - you would be the first to tell other forum members to go to the doctor! :yesnod: Please do go and see your physician - it may be nothing, it may be a little something that a course of medication will sort out, it may be something that requires further investigation and some life-style changes. You can't second-guess, go and see the professionals and set your mind at rest. (I had something with similar symptoms a few years ago - no, I'm not going to tell you the diagnosis but I will tell you a short course of medication, a change of diet and some emergency stand-by pills keeps the condition under control so that I am hardly aware of it now.)
Oh, and don't worry - if it's stress related, worry is the last thing you need! Good Luck, we're all behind you.

Best thing is to go to see a doc and talk to them. they should sent you for an Endoscopy and a colonoscopy to out rule anything else. If it is IBS then i can give you some advise food wise.
Unfortunately one is to stay off coffee or maybe even find a decaf thats nice an only have it after you have eaten something.

mk - you would be the first to tell other forum members to go to the doctor!
You are right, but ugh!!! I really do hate the doctor when I know it isn't really nothing :(
Meg i have ibs and it does sound awefully like it. Do you ever get such a bad cramp after eating something that you have to curl up because you just cant move?
Best thing is to go to see a doc and talk to them. they should sent you for an Endoscopy and a colonoscopy to out rule anything else. If it is IBS then i can give you some advise food wise.
Unfortunately one is to stay off coffee or maybe even find a decaf thats nice an only have it after you have eaten something.
Only some days, and for the most part I've ruled out everything I can't eat. I just hate to go through all the testing and such when I have things under control 80% of the time. That other 20% is just miserable though. I'll think about the doctor, I really will. All I can say is stupid genetics. I swear I was healthy as a horse when I was a kid, and now it feels like I'm always broke. Isn't 25 a little young to worry about that

I love food, and it is killing me that I can't hardly enjoy little things like a good steak dinner :(
you should probably go to the doctor. I went for stomach issues though mine were not as severe as yours (annoying - interrupted my job - seemed to be brought on by stress but not as painful it sounds like)... For me it was just constantly having a mild stomach ache all the time. Had heartburn too. tried to keep going wiht my activities but I think the psychological part of it was worse than anything. I had to have some tests done...they didn't find anything except for some inflammation in my esophogus to be controlled with prevacid and I have to take a probiotic everyday to manage the other end of the tube so to speak and I've discovered that if I eat natural foods I am not miserable. If I eat crap, I have crappy crappy symptoms. So, to sum up, I just have IBS and a hospital bill that I am paying on for all the tests when I could have just tried the diet and priobiotic thing to see if it improved. but I suppose they wanted to rule out any cancers so they put me under and shoved some tubes in. Oh and I had to lie in a machine for an hour and not move while some chemically treated oatmeal passed through my system...
but what you describe sounds worse. So I would go to the doctor i guess. good luck.
The worst part of this I think might be that the food that doesn't contain all the chemcials and processing is more expensive. There is no convenience anymore. everything has to be planned.

Niamh, Juniper - and Jozanny, if she pops in here to catch up with things - I don't know how you feel about homeopathy: I was mighty sceptical but I found a x6c preparation of Sepia helped me tremendously at such times. It helped with PMT and later with the miseries of the menopause (one of those things your mother didn't tell you). I don't know why it works, it (together with all homeopathic remedies) shouldn't work, but it does. The x30c preparation works even better but you really need that only on very rare occasions, it's mighty strong. It won't clash with any other 'proper' medication and shouldn't have any adverse side effects: it's worth trying, I can vouch for it.

I never take painkillers. I guess I think of the pain as natural, so I don't want to dope it away. I also don't use those gross plastic diaper-like pads or bleached cotton tampons... I'm a cloth (http://www.newmoonpads.com/home.html) person. They work really well, don't hurt the environment, and don't hurt women (toxic shock).
One good thing about my period: it makes me really sleepy. The night that I posted (my first night) I slept for fifteen hours haha. I had some really cool dreams too.

I think they have organic non-bleached tampons too. The tampons that you get from the store have a lot of bleach in them, and the mucosa in your vagina is really absorptive. The bleach gets into the bloodstream.

I wish painkillers worked :( My cramps last the whole damn period and radiate down to my knees. I don't just get abdominal cramps, my whole body aches. My doc gave me anti-inflammatories for my knees, but they don't make the cramps any better. The cramps get so bad I feel sick to my stomach.

It's really great. I haven't spent money on menstruation in like, four years. You just wash them like normal, it's really a lot more healthy for women and the environment. Actually, now that I've been using them so long those chemically-processed diapers seem kind of revolting to me. Tampons absolutely disgust me. Inserting a bleached plug into myself has never seemed quite right.
I feel sorry for you man, your periods sound unpleasant. I usually kind of like mine, I get to lay around, be sleepy and eat raspberries and dark chocolate for three days and then afterwards I'm all cleaned-out and healthy again.

CLASSIC CHARM-depending on where you are there is a shot that will completly stop your period. I had to do this because mine was so bad I would be physicaly sick. I used the shots for three months and than skipped a month and it helped a lot. They also have hormones they can give you to balance you out, your body may get out of sync. If that does help you should get checked for more pressing conditions. I waited 2 years thinking it was normal until it got to where I couldnt move. turns out I have indmetreosis and ovarian cancer, and those are all symptoms. Deffinitly need to talk to a gyno.
just my two cents.

Yes, you can also get an IUD... which slows or stops the period completely. It's birth control so you can't get pregnant on it but it lasts for five years, and it's alleviated virtually all of my cramps. I used to be completely unable to function the first day of my period...
Another thing I noticed, and I don't know if you've tried this before... but if I took extra strength Tylenol BEFORE my period started... or as soon as I saw a drop of the red stuff, it prevented the cramps, but if I took it after the cramps had taken hold it didn't do a darn thing for me.

Have you had a smear test done? If you havent you should just to make sure there are no abnormalities in your cervix. It takes all of 10 seconds to do, but its worth it. I got one last year and it was such a relief to hear that it was all clear. Cervical and Ovarian Cancer in on both sides of my family. The smear is only for Cervical checks though.
I know a girl who has really bad periods. She had an op last year to remove mutating cells from her cervix and had to get three radiation injections over the next 9 months to make sure it didnt come back. She still has very bad periods but now she doesnt have the fear of cancer.
But in saying that, i had really bad periods for about eight years from the time it first started, changing towels every hour to two hours and unable to move with pain and when i went on the contraceptive pill it lightened my flow and nearly all the pain went away. It was such a relief! Maybe you could consider this?

Oh I'm afraid of what might be in Forever...I've read other Judy Blume books so I can only imagine. I did however read Deenie at the age of maybe 11. My mom and dad laughed when they saw what I was reading and said something like "good old Judy Blume." They probably passed Deenie around their classroom.I suppose they were relieved that they wouldn't have to explain it to me...she's such a perv!! ha ha. But now, I'm going to have to read Forever.
I read Are You There God It's Me Margaret, but in the version I read, they were using old school feminine products and she was talking about a belt and all this stuff and it was very confusing to a 10-year old. On Wiki it says the book was edited to replace that with updated adhesive feminine hygeine products in 2006. See, I think they took too long with that. I read that in the 80's and I am pretty sure (going by what was it in my mom's bathroom cabinet) that no one was using belted thingies. I can't even imagine what that is. You're already in a craptacular mood anyway and you have to deal with some ridiculous tedious belt thing. Thank God for adhesives I suppose.

I had the implanton and it totally screwed me up. I had to get it out after a few months because my emotions went extreme. I had a history of depression and the clinic didnt realise it would effect me like that. lost my libido also. tehy took it out and then gave me a few months breathing space before putting me on microlite but i never really got out of it until i stopped taking the pill when i broke up with my ex almost two years ago. That would be nice, except that I get no warning whatsoever and I'm pretty much immune to the effects of Tyloenol under any circumstances (I had a lot of ear infections as a child).

Sigh. No. I haven't had any of the maintenance stuff done. I really should. See, I know going on the pill will most likely make it all go away haha. But really, the pill seriously screws up your natural biological functioning and I just feel like doing that right now is a little unnecessary.

Cucumber slices! I know it sounds really "Day at the spa" cliche, but they do work. Also, a cosmetic company called LUSH makes fresh face masks, and rubbing some of the mask under your eye really helps with dark circles as well.

Now, what kind of outfit would complete them?
I'm still working on the "total" ensemble.

God first time I tried dying my hair... I didnt realise 'Temporary' means 'Permanent' if you're dying darker than you're hair colour and my hair went from light brown to almost black for months!
Then I grew it out, that was amusing because my hair is over a metre in length! Took 3 years to get the dyed hair all cut off!! :eek2:

eek! what will you do if they go while you are still there?
Well Iguess I will have to go back to what I did when I was last living here and they didnt have bras that fit me... binding! Painful because it limits the amount of breath you can draw in, and it takes ages too wrap and layer and pin every morning but effective in the short run. And I only have 10 weeks left and if push comes to shove I can attemppt to repair the damaged ones.
I Recenntly got a hair cut ( only my 3rd professional cut in 12 years) I loved it at first but now I am not so sure. MY hair was nearly waist long and I got waht was supposed to be an inverted bob with the back almost shaved but I discovered that the hairdresser just brushed it to hide the uneve mess she made. ANd now my hair has gone from bein brittle and dry to constatly greasy...*sigh*
But what I am still tempted to do is get a real BeccaT inspired hair do like Ive always wanted (and because it is so cheap at this hairdressers is get my hair bleeached white and then streaked hot pink and whatever the blue is called basically the colours I am wearing in the photgraph from the library...http://www.online-literature.com/forums/blog.php?b=8340

Another friend is vividly pink but she has to maintain that colour a lot more than most :PMany moons ago, for about a year, I had purple highlights. It looked quite good (I am a natural dark-head) - though depending on the shade it can turn towards red as well.
I love purple hair... But, all said and done, my favorite is electric blue!
Papaya> How did it all go? I always dye my own hair without much complication (apart from the time I tried to add highlights :goof:).

You're never to old for electric blue hair :D
I'm trying to decide what to do with my own. I'm going to go and have it chopped short and spiky again (it has gotten a bit shaggy), but I really kind of want to dye it. I just don't know what color to go with. I used to be blond, but my hair has darkened to a shade that isn't blond while stubbornly not being brown as well. I was considering black with red tips, but I don't know how well that will go over in the office  It's a pretty relaxed place, but having black hair with red tips that I spike each day may not be the look to go for. Any ideas???

That's kind of where I'm leading. That or a very dark brown. I do know I want to go darker than my natural hair. I remembered how bad maintaining a lighter look destroyed my hair the last time, so I suppose that's another reason that red tips are out:( I just couldn't keep it up.

I was hoping to buy an apartment. It would have worked out cheaper a month than renting an apartment (€500 a month compared to €700...) but there were a few problems. I'm just waiting to hear back from the broker that i have lost out so i can start viewing apartments. Kilted comes overthe end of May and i'd like to have somewhere to live for both of us by then. I dont want to encroach on my best friend. I'd hate to have tolive with a couple.
