 OopS! That was supposed to be mince pies! I'm such an amadhain sometimes!
Thanks guys!

kathycf

I thought you might have meant mince, Niamh, but then I thought maybe mice pies were actually some sort of delicacy in Ireland. :p

Niamh
04-25-2007, 06:07 AM
 yes traditionally it is served on a bed of blood pudding!

(unlike mice pies which dont exist, black and white blood pudding does.)

Damn i've made myself hungry for white pudding on toast with a poached egg.......

kathycf
04-25-2007, 12:32 PM
I had the white pudding in a mixed grill. Rather, I had a weensy bite of it, and I completely ignored the blood pudding.

Sorry, Niamh, I think it is partly a culture thing. In the States, the term pudding is exclusively used for specific type of sweet dessert.

This is different from what you describe as a savory dish served alongside meats and such. If I remember correctly, pudding is also a term that can describe most type of desserts as well.

Hey not diverting you all from the coffee discussions, I just had to share some wedding pictures. We were talking about significance of the colour red and henna for the Indian brides.

Here is what a newly wed will look like -- This couple actually is a celebrity, but mostly the newly weds look like them. The brides do not wear such heavy saris all the time, but, as she is newly married she wants to look her best. Also, notice the henna painted hands. :D They are at a temple.

Madhuri,

She is an actress isn't she?
I thing i saw a movie with a lot of spicies involved:)....... and if she did not play the lead role she sure looks exactly like that actress.

Madhuri
04-25-2007, 01:38 PM
Oh yes, she is an actress Aishwarya Rai (now Bachchan). The movie you are talking about is -- Mistress of Spices. She did play the lead role in that movie.

Moira
04-25-2007, 01:41 PM
Yes, that was the movie.
She is very beautiful and i have seen the movie recently, that's why i remembered, because the movie was not that great.

Madhuri
04-25-2007, 01:42 PM
I saw the movie too, didnt leave a big impression on me. It's based on a book of the same name.

Niamh
04-25-2007, 01:45 PM
She is a wonderful Actress! I really liked her in 'Bride and Prejudice' (a bollywood styled pride and prejudice)
Oh... i think i might watch that later!

Madhuri
04-25-2007, 01:47 PM
Yes, in that movie also you'll see a typical Punjabi style wedding or let's say a typical North Indian wedding.

Niamh
04-25-2007, 02:14 PM
I thought everything about the movie was wonderful!

anyone up for a game of tennis?

http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n25/Shalot_bucket/dubaitenniscourt.jpg

on this tennis court? I think I would die!

BTW: I was checking out the nightly rates and they had an opening in June and it was like $900.00 + American dollars to stay for the night! (btw: it's in Dubai --- has anyone ever been there?)

They were talking about this place on the Today show and I got interested. Don't think I'm wealthy enough to go here, but wow!

Niamh

I'd love to go to Dubai. but its very expensive.

Oh wow, good that I don't suffer from acrophobia ;).
I've never been to Dubai yet, but I once read an article on this artificial island they were planning to "build" off the Dubai coast as a tourist attraction:

Madhuri, that picture you posted was lovely -- and the actress really is a beautiful girl. It is always fun to see what other cultures do for 'that special day'! :)

Hello!!!!

These pictures are lovely!

And Shalot - Wimbledon is just round the corner! Yayyy! Cant wait.

I just wanted to say hi, not been here for a while, buried deep down under with work, all my deadlines and exams in the next weeks!

Yikes! So whilst your sitting here, sipping different flavoured tea, take time to think of poor me. :-)

Hmmm, it seems that Opti is not the only one working on exams, term papers, and all that jazz -- where is our dear Drama? And Asa Adams? Kan? (with or without the girly wig provided by our Niamh, tee hee!) These are some of the regulars who I've not seen lately! Well good luck to all out there who are slaving away for those grades ... it is well worth the extra elbow grease.

Sooooooooo, it has been awhile since we all gathered for a girly gab session. Hows about I put on the kettle and brew a nice pot of Cherry Rose Festival, a green tea with dried bits of cherry to enhance. Such nice tea, who shall provide the sweets for our tea?

Hey, I see that you are reading a Margaret Atwood book -- what do you think? (She is one of my favorite Canadian authors, penning some brilliant short stories...)

It was my first book written by her, but won't be the last now ;). I must admit she was the first author I read whom I knew to be Canadian .

Cookie... all those goodies make me crave sweet food! Not good seeing as i had to make an emergancy visit to the dentist yesterday because of a horrible tooth ache! needless to say i discovered that i had a really bad cavity that went all the way to the nerve. have a temporary filling in and have been told my only options are A. get tooth pulled or B. root canal. Was thinking of be until i realised that the tooth is at the very back and you cant see it if i smile so might go for pulled. Option A would also save me about €600.

Oh my goodness, poor you, Niamh! Must have been all those custard egg on toasts??

Here, put up your feet, we'll give you a foot massage that will take the edge off for a bit.

**Kizzo gets the pedicure supplies out**

**Vivaldi's Four Seasons is playing in the background and there is delightful tea being poured. For a while Niamh forgets the tooth miseries**

Bakiryu, I am sorry that you are allergic to shrimp (that is my favorite), but I have an allergy to crab, so I totally understand. :)

Sorry to hear about your toothache, Niamh ! I don't know about you, but root channel sounds quite painful to me. 600 € ?! Dentists must be rich people, feeding on the misery of others .

05-27-2007, 01:20 PM
But the trouble with marrying a dentist is that they are always down in the mouth...

**drum roll** ~~~~~cheap joke, to be sure~~~~~

Hopefully your tooth situation is remedied soon!

Niamh
05-27-2007, 05:28 PM
How about listening to some mellow music? I'll stick a bit of Jack L on for everyone. Hope you like it!
Kiz.. Any black nail varnish? I'm having a black mood day.
Hope you feel in high spirits soon Kathy!

kiz_paws
05-28-2007, 12:17 AM
Well, Kathy, we have this lovely cushion that if you place it around your neck and plug it in, it not only heats up, but has a nice strong pulsing action, to relieve that aching neck of yours. **places contraption on Kathy's poor neck**

There, isn't that better? **Kathy melts a bit**

Now, about that pedicure, we've had a request for some black nail polish, can do, happen to have some new stuff right here!

**Kiz's bag of tricks has lots of cool colours**

Would Niamh like a little decal of a skull on those nails of hers, or has her mood improved (teehee, always is a conversation piece at the store).

And you, Kathy, what colour would you be prefering?

**scented candles are lit just for the fun of it. They smell like wild plums mixed with vanilla**

Anyone else like their nails done? Koa? Schoks? How about Bakiryu?

Well, Schoks (hope you don't mind me calling you that, it is just quicker to type), you just have a seat over here, in the comfy velvet chair and we'll get your nails soaking in some nice warm solution. Then we shall push back the cuticles, trim the nails somewhat, and put that nice turquoise polish atop. You'll look grrrrrreat in a jiffy!

And I shall now light one of my favorite candles, this one is called Key-Lime-Pie. Oh my goodness, does it EVER smell great!

We shall leave the skulls off of Niamh's nails, but I am going to put them on my toes, just to be a brat, hee-hee!

Hey, by the way, those blue stringy ball things look like fun, but be careful to not throw them around here, what with the candles and hot wax (for hot wax treatments). Careful girls...

**stirs the hot wax**

Maybe we can entice him back with some football/soccer talk. With the caveat that he must put on that black wig. :p I just can't help thinking of football as American football, although I know just about the rest of the planet refers to what we US types call soccer as football.

*scratches head...tries to think of something regarding sports...fails miserably...*

06-05-2007, 02:52 AM
Ahhhhh, but the danger here, girls, is that any talk of sports shall certainly get leaked out, and then what? Next thing you know, our channel changers shall disappear, the coffee/tea shall be replaced with gatorade and who knows what else vile beverage enjoyed by the sports enthusiasts... (please be known that I cast no ill on any other male -- I am merely projecting the goings-ons with my own better half... hee-hee!). ;)

Ergo, I move that we continue on with our lovely music as played on by our Niamh here -- and yes... some Chai tea sounds delightful.

Does not matter that I've already consumed a walnut date cake, peach pie is definitely a go for me (thanks out there to SleepyWitch, for finally making me remember how to spell 'definitely' -- I had read in another thread about thinking of the word FINITE, and now I shall never forget, thanks heaps!). **funny how it is that certain words are continually spelled incorrectly** Ahhh well.... ;)

Wouldn't it be great to have root beer made the old fashioned way, like in the early 1900's, when things were pure and adding pollutants to beverages was unheard of....

The flavour of Root Beer is kind of hard to describe, I think that Robin provided a good answer. But the best thing about Root Beer is that when you pour it, there is a huge foamy head, which I try to slurp off quickly, before it dissipates.... **yummmmmmmy**

It is really hard to describe a flavor like that as it doesn't resemble anything else. Sometimes you can get away with it by making comparisions, but that doesn't really work with rootbeer or even sarsparilla.

This is sangria!

Sangría is a wine punch which originated in Spain and Portugal. The word sangría comes from the Spanish sangre meaning blood. It typically consists of

red wine,
chopped or sliced fruit,
a sweetener such as honey or orange juice,
a small amount of added brandy, triple sec, or other spirits.
lemonade or another soft drink
Because of the variation in recipes, sangría's strength can vary greatly.

I had sangria in a Mexican restaurant a while back and they had put taquella in it! Very strong! But very nice!

steel toe shoes arent really that heavy drame. What I want to know is did the steel bit eventaually collapse? One of mine ( these are my builders boots) has done that from the number of times people have trod on my feet or Ive dropped things on my feet ( hence the reason for steel toes in the first place) and Ive had to fix it with a hammer and I cant rember what else I used . Its not right anymore though and Ive got a nasty ccallse on the side of my toe from them.

I wonder if I should invest in a new pair mine are almost 4 years old now.

 What? Night you never cease to amaze me, how in the heck have you collapsed your steel toed shoes????? I've seen drums, angle irons, and big heavy things fall on them and they don't collapse. Are yours ASTM certified?

BibliophileTRJ
06-15-2007, 09:18 AM
Nightshade,

Yes! Definitely replace them. Once that protective shell collapses; even though you can bang it back into position, it's prone to failing again & again. Now that it's weakened it's actually dangerous.....if something REALLY heavy falls on your foot the steel can bend down and amputate toes. Trust me on this, I speak from experience.

Paya, you forget this is me we are talking about... I dont think it was the time a car rolled over my foot though that was normal shoes...supprisingly that didnt really hurt that much i think it was because my shoes were slightly too big and it was only the edge of the wheel and the edge of my shoe.

All I really know about my shoes is they are RoadMates I had to buy them in dollars and they were bloody expensive as far as my shoes went at the time.

Sounds uncomfortable. I guess it depends on what you do with them. My ex-friend Tom had them (hence them sometimes ending up in my shins) but he seemed to find them comfortable, but he just stood around doing nothing all day. I wear them almost everyday (my plant requires them). Steel Toe shoes are heavier then regular shoes, and generally more ugly. The pair I have now, which are Doc Martens, are quite comfortable but I paid (well company paid) $150 for them. They have a pretty wide selection out now.

hello Kat in hat!

 Hiya!

I wear them almost everyday (my plant requires them). ...These are mine:
http://www.work-n-wear.com/shop/images/3920.jpg

Quite girly huh?
Slap some pink or purple shoelaces on them and you got a look! ;)

Actually, I like those. They aren't bad looking and seem to be pretty supportive. I have a lot of trouble with my feet and think I need to get some good shoes again...been wearing sandals the last couple of weeks and my lower back is so painful.

i think hush puppies are really comfortable! Got my first pair there in nov and they have lasted me seven months! (with the amount of walking around and crap i do in the airport shoes usually only last me a month or two so this is good going!) Have ordered a new pair. Like walking on air!

In which case, don't get Chucks. They're my fave type of shoes, but they're terrible for long walks. They're rather flat and provide no support of any kind. I say regular tennis shoes are most def. the best. :]

We have this bohemian coffee bar called Roca Jack's that has all the hot coffee, iced coffee, flavored teas and the list goes on... I kind of prefer this place to Starbucks or Second Cup because of the cool atmosphere (and the music is great, too). They have performers come in about once a week, after 7:00 p.m., and it can be one performer or a group of musicians, sometimes chamber music, sometimes jazz, etc. Overall, it is a nice relaxing place to enjoy your coffee/tea, your surroundings, and some good conversation! :)

There used to be a nice coffee house in my area...you could sit around on the couches, play chess or some other games and drink coffee. They closed up. :( I actually don't care for Starbucks coffee, I find it sort of bitter. Did you folks know that Starbucks makes coffee icecream though? It is very good.

I don't like Starbucks coffee either and I am talking about the plain old coffee and several people that I know don't really care for it either. If I want a cup of coffee in the morning before work, I will just go to a gas station and pay .79 cents for a cup of joe with some flavored creams. Starbucks is good for iced lattes with soy milk and atmosphere and that's about it.

I noramally just get the Mocha Frap...especially after I discovered that their black coffee is disgusting!!! I have a theory however...they get more $$$ out of the frappa stuff and other sweeter stuff then they do for just a cup of coffee...thats why the burn their beans so people will go for the better tasting stuff...their lattes and cappuccinos are good or at least decent. thats what I think anyways. Cause you can't just keep burning the beans at every single starbucks...and my uncle buys the beans from the stores and it tastes fine, but I kid you not, every starbucks in my area burns their beans when it comes to just regular coffee.:(

That's what I'm saying. Coffee is not so great --- it smells better than it actually is and yet we continue to brew it day in and day out or go buy it. An we buy a cup from those people who make a better cup than we can brew in our Mr. Coffee machines at home as long as they supply us with creamers and sprinklers to put into to take bitterness away.

If cigarettes didn't ruin your property when you smoked them and make everthing stink to high heaven, would you smoke them despite the damage it does to your body? Or more to the point, if cigarettes made everything smell fresh and clean when you smoked them and gave you a little buzz to boot, would you smoke them, even if they still caused lung cancer and heart disease?

Or to put it this way:

cigarette smoke = good smells,

or cigarettes = heart disease, lung cancer and stroke?

Oh, I do. They are some of the most fattening things around, even if you get them with skim milk. Not much nutritional value either.

Although I am an on-the-wagon caffeine drinker, I make my friends a healthy version of chilled coffee when they complain that they need to lose weight.
I make regular black coffee and wait until it is luke warm. I then put it in the blender with lots of shaved ice, soy milk, cinnamon, cocoa powder, and a tiiiiny bit of honey. It takes off at least 35% of the calories and tastes pretty good if you make it right.

That's what I'm saying. Coffee is not so great --- it smells better than it actually is and yet we continue to brew it day in and day out or go buy it.

Coffee is a lot more benign than cigarettes, and although caffeine is a widely and commonly consumed drug, it isn't all bad. Here are some snippets from the results of a study regarding caffeine. To read the whole (really long!) study, you can go here.

http://www.benbest.com/health/caffeine.html

One other thing to keep in mind is that caffeine is present in other substances besides coffee and tea. Chocolate, some soft drinks and some prescription/over the counter drugs.

There is also some studies that suggest that even one cup of coffee can temporarily stiffen artery walls.

VI. HEART DISEASE, CANCER AND CAFFEINE

Unlike many other foods or recreational drugs (like alcohol or nicotine), there is little evidence implicating caffeine to cancer or cardiovascular disease -- although heart disturbances can occur on high doses or in sensitive individuals. Administered acutely, moderate doses of caffeine can increase blood pressure and decrease heart rate. For most people, tolerance develops to these effects within a few days and there is no alteration in cardiovascular effects for habitual caffeine users.

In a study of one hundred healthy males, 3 cups of coffee daily over 8 weeks led to a small increase in both LDL & HDL cholesterol, which would not be expected to increase the risk of coronary artery disease [JOURNAL OF THE AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION 267(6):811-815 (1992)]. The cholesterol-raising factors have been identified as the lipids cafestol & kahweol, which can be removed by paper filtration and are not present in instant coffee [ANNUAL REVIEW OF NUTRITION 17:305-324 (1997)]. ......

In the period between the 1950s and 1970s many believed that caffeine could be a serious cause of cancer in humans because of studies in plants showing chromosome breaks, inhibition of mitosis and formation of chromatin bridges after high-dose caffeine treatment [MUTATION RESEARCH 26:53-71 (1974)]. A 1994 review, however, concluded that caffeine at the doses experienced in coffee-drinking is not mutagenic in humans, although heterocyclic amines from roasting and alkylating carbonyls in coffee are somewhat mutagenic [MUTATION RESEARCH 317:145-162 (1994)]. Nonetheless, more recent evidence does show a capacity for caffeine to worsen the mutagenicity of ionizing radiation and other carcinogenic agents through interference with cell cycle control [MUTATION RESEARCH 532:85-102 (2003)].

Green tea is reputed to help prevent cancer due to its polyphenols. The polyphenol most highly concentrated in coffee is chlorogenic acid (5-10%), but a coffee polyphenol present in lesser concentrations (caffeic acid) is associated with anti-oxidant activity. Caffeine, like the xanthine-derivative uric acid, is an antioxidant that can scavenge the hydroxyl radical which can be produced from the hydrogen peroxide in coffee & tea undergoing a Fenton reaction with metal ions [FOOD AND CHEMICAL TOXICOLOGY 29(1):1-6 (1991)].

A review of studies on animals & humans found no conclusive evidence for any increased incidence of cancer in any organ due to coffee [WORLD REVIEW OF NUTRITION AND DIETETICS 79:185-221 (1996)]. In fact, a meta-analysis of epidemiological studies concluded that persons consuming four or more cups of coffee per day have a 24% lower risk of colon cancer than those who rarely or never drink coffee [AMERICAN JOURNAL OF EPIDEMIOLOGY 147(11):1043-1052 (1998)]. Nonetheless, such an association might be due to the higher socio-economic status of coffee-drinkers rather than to the coffee. ......

Caffeine administered acutely increases diuresis (urination), but this effect is not seen for habitual users who consume the equivalent of a few cups of coffee per day. Nor do such users typically suffer much sleep disturbance -- especially when most caffeine is consumed in the morning. Tolerance to these effects is believed to be due mainly to the adaptive increase (upregulation) in number of adenosine receptors. Although tolerance is usually seen for elevation of blood glucose by caffeine, there may be little tolerance of this effect for people who are obese or who are suffering from maturity-onset diabetes.

Caffeine can significantly increase the secretion of gastric acid & pepsin. But coffee -- even decaf -- has an even stronger effect. Apparently there is a non-caffeine component to coffee which has a significant effect on gastric secretion.

Caffeine can increase plasma levels of free fatty acids, cortisol and epinephrine -- effects thought to improve athletic performance. But effects on the brain may be more important for improving endurance -- such as increased dopamine signalling in the basal ganglia and reduced serotonin signalling (insofar as serotonin mediates fatigue). Elevated epinephrine & free fatty acids due to caffeine may cause insulin resistance, but it remains undetermined whether tolerance can develop to this effect [DIABETES CARE 25(2):304-369 & 399-400 (2002)]. Elevation of free fatty acids (which can be twice as high as normal) due to caffeine is not simply due to elevation of epinephrine [JOURNAL OF APPLIED PHYSIOLOGY 80(3):999-1005 (1996)]. Obese women increase thermogenesis in response to caffeine to a lesser extent than do lean women [AMERICAN JOURNAL OF PHYSIOLOGY 269(4 Pt 1):E671-E678 (1995)].

Caffeine regularly increases energy metabolism throughout the brain while decreasing cerebral blood flow -- and there is no tolerance for these effects. Vasoconstriction due to 250 milligrams of caffeine can decrease central blood flow by 20-30%, which is why caffeine has been used to treat migraine headache. Because blood glucose is usually more than ample for cerebral metabolism the combination of increased metabolism & decreased blood flow would be more likely to induce hypoxia than ischemia. But if caffeine increases oxygen intake by bronchodilation or increases sensitivity to carbon dioxide in the medulla, then there may be compensation. (Both hypoxia and caffeine elevate plasma adenosine.)

Green tea three times per day can increase total basal metabolism by 4%, but this effect is more due to epigallocatechin gallate than caffeine [AMERICAN JOURNAL OF CLINICAL NUTRITION; Dullo,AG; 70;1040-1045 (1999)].
Of specific interest to females:

Caffeine can increase both the prevalence and severity of PreMenstrual Syndrome (PMS). Among women with severe PMS a single daily cup of caffeine beverage increased the chance of PMS by one third, whereas 8-10 daily cups increased the prevalence seven times [AMERICAN JOURNAL OF PUBLIC HEALTH; Rossignol,AM; 80(9):1106-1110 (1990)].

The consumption of fewer than four cups of coffee daily during pregnancy is not deemed to endanger the child [FOOD AND CHEMICAL TOXICOLOGY 40:1271-1310 (2002)]. For a 60 kilogram (132 pound) pregnant woman, an increased risk of spontaneous abortion is only seen for coffee consumption in excess of 6 cups per day (equivalent to 12 cups of tea) [NEW ENGLAND JOURNAL OF MEDICINE; Klebanoff,MA; 341(22):1639-1644 (1999)].

Coffee is wonderful! I work at a coffee shop, a little family-owned place. Starbucks has awful coffee. Any way of drinking is fine, whether plain americanos or triple-shot mochas! Though right now everyone wants the frozen cold drinks as Ohio's scorching...

You wouldn't believe some of the drinks out there. If you think a vanilla latte's fancy, try the Buckeye--espresso, milk, white chocolate, peanut butter, lined with dark chocolate and peanut butter and topped with those and whipped cream!

Seriously? You don't like bananas? Bananas are my favorite. They're cheap and easy and you can put them in your Cheerios or on your peanut butter sandwich or in your smoothie...

I do not like banana splits though. Adding a banana to the mix ruins a perfectly good sundae in my opinion.

Coffee milk is pretty traditional is some cultures though...its common in, or at least where my family is, to give kids coffee milk...its more milk than coffee.

Well, I'm barely 5'5"...I grew up on coffee...decaf until I got older...but it is pretty common. My mom used to mix in cinnamon...did I spell that right? I can't even say it right, jeez!! She also put a little chocolate in, where she grew up there was a local 'hot' chocolate 'factory', Rey Amargo...yummy...with my dads she would mix a little tequila, haha:D

i think i was ten before i was allowed near anything coffee based! Thats why i was suprised! But in saying that young infants over here get warm tea with milk so i guess thats kind of similar!
All this talk of fruit! When i was a kid i used to go to wexford every summer and we'd go blackberry picking! I loved it! We'd end up picking so much we'd have it with everything! We'd still be eating the jam by the next summer. And thinking of wexford always makes me think of gooseberry jam and the strawberry fair. Best gooseberries and strawberries in Ireland are wexford ones!

Oh, well we don't start until 8-10 anyways...most of the time at least...I LOVE GOOSEBERRIES! I was up in the Redwoods in CA, we picked wild gooseberries and salmon berries and ate them there!! I'm not sure if we should have but oh well!!

I love Raspberries!!! OH WOW!! I'm not a big fan on Banannas, partially because everyone calls me ana bananna, and the flavor. I love grapes and oranges and mangos....and kumquats?? I think thats how you spell it...dunno.!

Ya know, I'm not sure what salmon berries are...well I know what they look like, but I don't know if it was a good idea to eat...well they are these red/pink, yellow if unripe, berries that grow on this bush...they look like salmon eggs bunched together. Kumquats are ittybitty orange looking things that are pretty sour...yummy!!1111

I have a blackberry bush just outside the porch door. The darn things grow wild and spread like crazy, but the berries are very nice.

That's true. We have blackberries in our garden. We're not really keen gardeners. So they completely took over. They've covered the roses (we had roses, different coloured ones, red, a kind of peachy colour and I'm sure we had yellow too but I need to check that. That was a long time ago) and the Bluebells (I love bluebells. Don't know why. The colour, the shape, the smell maybe because they pop up every spring, even now though there's very few now) and that lovely one with the little clusters of white flowers (I don't know it's name, had a lovely smell though) there was a wall there and I could climb up and sit on it and look into the neighbor’s garden. Wow. I haven't thought of that for years, it was so long ago. It's all different now. I've started clearing some of the blackberries, they were getting close to my cat's grave. There's one thing I won't tolerate and that's thorns smothering him. I don't want to take all of the blackberries down though because our birds like to eat them.
Sorry about that, my thoughts got away from me a bit there. I just love remembering things like our garden :).

Now coffee, personally I hate it. So do my parents though my dad will eat coffee sweets while mum and I won't. But mum drinks tea. She's addicted I say. She has a headache if she doesn't have her tea in the morning. I've never liked tea and my dad hates it too. But the thing is I'll happily drink Coca-Cola but mum won't I'm not sure about dad, he probably would though.

yum, I love kumquats. I don't have them very often, though. Not many stores around here carry them.

I haven't eaten any since we moved from San Diego. Our neighbour had the kumquat plant in her backyard and would bring us baskets of them every few months!!! Its been like 4 yrs now!! :(

Mmm...mangoes are by far my favourite fruits, but I love bananas and melons as well. And mulberries, because of sentimental reasons.

I've never had a kumquat...it sounds interesting.

 I do the same thing, the thing is, I usualy read while I'm in bed, which doesn't help, cuz sometimes I end up reading like two lines, and then fall asleep, so I end up NOT reading what I wanted to read, and falling asleep when I didn't wanna sleep cuz I wanted to read...did that make ANY sense?!
Now, I woke up like two hours ago..and I'm reading something while I'm sitting here..STILL I feel sleepy...grrrr...lol
