Well, it's never even been released in the United States, but yeah, I've heard it's no longer available in the markets where it once was (i.e. Europe and Asia). However, this may be due to a mass release by Disney being in the works. Disney CEO Robert Iger recently hinted that Disney was looking very seriously at the possibility of re-releasing Song of the South, which marks the first time they have EVER made that suggestion. (They let the 50th and 60th anniversaries of the movie go by without a peep, which is very unlike Disney)
I bought a bootleg version off of eBay years ago. I don't know that I would call the movie racist, but certain elements of the film are racially insensitive, to say the very least. Of course, most of the other movies made in that era were insensitive in this area as well.
Idril

i think the actor is brian dennehy, but I have no idea what that is either (and it probably isn't him -- hard to tell from the profile. and what is up with her hair? )
I don't know what's up with her hair, that's why I was thinking Ann Margaret because she always has that really big, poofy hair and it's about that color. I was thinking Ian Holm because he seems kind of short but he could just be slouching...

I think I know thgis film tooo, I thought it was called rocky but that has turned up a no, is it the one with the migrant grandfather who ends up taking care of his grandson and the film saps decades and decades and they are always either playing gin rummy or chess and no one ever beat him till the grandsons wife comes along? and the end every argument by banging the table and saying "conversation over!!"
............? dont rember what it was called though

this is totally unrelated but Song of the South was taken off the market for being racially offensive wasn't it? I saw it a long time ago as a child. It would be interesting to watch it now, just to see what the deal is.
Really we have part of it on video somewhere.... just the zip a dee doo dah song though.

No, not really. It's just my computer and I don't really know how to fix it. I've tried messing with the settings but I generally just make it worse. Most of the time it's fine but if the picture is the least bit dark, I have problems. I can see that it's a man looking at his reflection in a window but I can't see the face at all...oh wait! I can import it to picasa and lighten it there...it is Kevin Spacey...but I still have no idea what movie.

I'm afraid of Virginia Wolfe/ both the book and movie are the most nightmareish version of mairrage that one could imagine, at least psychologically. Burton and Taylor got it right, interpretation and nuance, and make you aware of how exhausting and destructive a relationship can be. What lesson does the author want you to learn or is the author out to shock you with the possibilities of mean-spiritied people who still have just a trace of the affection they started out with. The work burned itself into my consciousness and taught me alot about the don'ts of interpersonal dynamics. Married people ought to have two rules: 1/have rules that are ironclad about what you will and won't do 2/ never, ever, salt the old wounds. quasimodo1
