I haven't seen it. I don't know how I feel about Angelina Jolie, she kind of annoys me. I'm not sure I could get over it to just enjoy the film. Is it really that good? Were you able to forget she was actually just Angelina Jolie playing Marianne Pearl?

My first impulse was to say The Glass Menagerie but when I do a search for it, the only movie version I find is one from 1987 and that picture is clearly not from 1987. And it can't be Streetcar Named Desire because that was in black and white so I did a search for Rip Torn to find out how he was married to and then I check out her imdb page and she was in Summer and Smoke which is a Williams play...so...is that it?

Idril, you are totally right, she was in Summer and Smoke although the above is a screen capture from another T. Williams adaptation. Her name in the film is Alexandra Del Lago or Princess Cosmonopolous.

The director is Jean-Jaques Beineix

The plot is that Jules, an 18-year-old Parisian postman, makes an illegal recording of famed opera singer Cynthia, whom he idolizes. The following day, he accidentally and unknowingly comes into possession of tape revealing the identity of the head of an international prostitution ring. Soon he is being chased by the police who want this tape, the criminals who want to destroy the tape, and record pirates who want his recording of Cynthia.

Along the way, he is befriended by an adolescent Vietnamese girl and an enigmatic pipe smoker who is infatuated with her. He also manages to charm Cynthia, and the mismatched couple experiences an intense and powerful relationship together
