Great, great film. Should be seen by everyone who wants to understand what it means to be human.

hummm...those are printers blocks of letters...I wonder what film this one is. Is it a b/w photo of a film done in color; or was this film originally shot in b/w?

I will take a wild guess - Citizen Kane

You are probably all laughing at me by now; but wasn't that about the newpaper tycoon?

No I'm not laughing :) But I must demand that you SEE that movie, one of the greatest ever, if not the greatest.

Well if you take a close look at the texture of the picture you can tell that it is a color film. It rings a bell though.

Daniel,...haha...demand my eye....I have seen the film "Citizen Kane" several times now. I know it's a great film...hahah....Rosebud...I happen to be one of those rare individuals who likes Orson Wells films. Didn't he also do "The Third Man"? Lucky for me my library owns both. I also picked up this DVD somewhere (Target, I think) in the bargain bin for $1. I am trying to recall the name. All I know is Orson Wells stars in it and there figures in a town clock. Anyone else ever see the film? It's really good, even though my film DVD quality is not too great for only $1. I also liked Orson Well's version of "Macbeth" - my library owns that one too. It's a small town but has a cool library.

About this current photo...I have no idea!!! haha

Well now, it's got to be a modern movie. I don't think Target has been around too long has it? I really don't know modern movies very well so I won't even venture to guess; but thanks for the hint.

"Weird"? Excuse me, but Basil Goes to Target was described by some people who actually KNOW movies as:

"…a poignant symbolization of dreams and the cruelty of those who puncture them."

"...an epic, poetic vision in which the grim realities of everyday existence are matched and mirrored by a descent into an underworld populated by fearsomely beautiful monsters."

"...The best shaggy dog movie since Beethoven's Fifth."

Janine, I'll do you one better and give you a clue, because showing you the people in the film wouldn't help you out at all (I'm not posting these seemingly random pictures just to be a punk ;)).

Is "Helvetica" a movie???

Yep. The movie takes an in depth look at the font on the 50th year anniversary of its creation. I know a movie about a typeface sounds like an exercise in tedium, but it's actually quite fascinating. I recommend it.

"Everything is interesting if you go into it deeply enough." Richard Feynman

Janine
01-24-2010, 10:04 PM
I'll be...there is indeed a movie named "Helvetica"...on Amazon it says....

Helvetica is a feature-length independent film about typography, graphic design and global visual culture.

But now could we get any more obscure a film than this one? well....at least, it's 'feature length'. Whew glad it's solved, too.

Good job, Janine!!

Thanks Bien! One of my favorite movies; just re-watched it a month or so ago. I spotted her hat and it rang a bell; his trenchcoat, too...haha

Here's the next photo:

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p70/sealace/MovieStills/MovieScenes.jpg

Sorry, it's just a little bit blurry because I took a screen shot of the movie with my own camera when I was watching it. If this one is too obscure, I have some more of the same film.

Has anyone had problems recently with Photobucket? I have always used it to host photos for in here...I went in last night to find several of my files removed. I could see if they were images from the internet but one was a whole album of my granddaughter. I am thinking maybe I should change my password. Thank God, I have copied all the grandchild ones. I don't like having my images deleted; they never explained why or anything...seems suspicious.

It looks like a very old film Janine. Is that Buster Keaton in the picture?

It's an older movie, but that is not Buster Keaton in the photo; the actor is a very well known Hollywood star. It's not that old a film; not from the silent era; this movie is actually from 1964. Do you need another photo?

I decided to post another photo. The one above might be too obscure, but it's from a famous scene in the film. Here's another.....

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p70/sealace/MovieStills/MovieStillb_w2.jpg

This film stars two very prominent actors....and the director was very well known; I actually studied his work in my college film class.

Basil, does the movie have anything to do with bombs?
The movie is set in wartime, and that is a large, unexploded bomb the kid is rapping with his knuckles, but the plot doesn't directly involve bombs or war.

The director has said that he considers this movie and another (more acclaimed) movie of his to be "siblings"--this movie the brother, and the other, the sister.
