BBC2's The Apprentice contestant Michael Sophocles almost came to asticky end when Sir Alan Sugar discovered he did not know the differencebetween Kosher and Halal meat, although his CV boasts: 'I am a good Jewishboy.' One of Sir Alan's cronies observed that the Classics degree at EdinburghUniversity taken by Sophocles 'isn't what it used to be'. An Edinburgh Classicsprofessor protests: 'Let's just say Michael wasn't a star. His big ambition wasto become an actor and he was probably absent the day we covered dietarylegislation.'
