The Myth Method (Fergusson):
Francis Fergusson, an American critic and scholar who has translated
Sophocles as well, has some interesting views on the Greek dramatist. He
points out that the importance of the Oedipus play is more than dramatic or
poetic, for it is upon this tragedy that Aristotle based his critical
definitions, and hence upon which much subsequent literary, historical, moral,
and psychological writing has been founded. Another important aspect of
