Although Winslow Homer died in 1910 after a career of mixed acclaim, today he is the darling of the museum circuit. From the large 1996 retrospective at the Museum of Fine Arts to this small show, "Winslow Homer: By Land and By Sea" at the Worcester Art Museum, Homer's nostalgic views of childhood, rugged depictions of the New England landscape and forthright handling of paint is a surefire appeal to all things American.
