Homer-Center eliminated from District 6 playoffs

HOMER CITY--A stunned silence swept across Homer-Center's new FMC Sports Complex after the first inning of the Wildcat's second-round District 6 Class A playoff contest against Portage last Thursday.

The Mustangs, with seeming ease, pushed four runners across the plate on three hits in the top of the first, while Homer-Center (16- 2) uncharacteristically struggled to answer with a run of its own in the bottom of the inning.

Six innings later, Homer-Center's state championship hopes were dashed, after a gut-wrenching 12-4 defeat.
