No, the residents of Manitou Springs are not daffy. They just love the duck.

Specifically, Homer the Duck.

They love their quirky festivals and community celebrations.

So community leaders and residents organized a daylong festival Saturday to celebrate the memory of a dead duck.

With a backdrop of duck tunes such as "Disco Duck," former Mayor Bud Ford emceed the entertainment, which included a quacking contest, a waddling contest, a pin-the-puff on Homer contest, a rubber duck race and a blueberry pancake eating contest.
