For centuries, Cerne Giant sex symbol has been unrivalled in its manly prowess. But yesterday the Dorset landmark was upstaged by someone even larger... Homer Simpson.

A gigantic image of the work-shy, beer-swilling dad from The Simpsons has been painted alongside the giant on his hillside near Dorchester.

The image, 230ft (70m) by 164ft (50m), was created with 200 litres of biodegradable paint and took two days to complete.

And why, exactly? Doh!, as Homer might say. As has been heavily advertised, the long-awaited Simpsons movie goes on general release on July 27, and this was another ...
