Anton Chekhov becomes one of his own characters in "Chekhov in Yalta," at Victory Gardens Theater, 2257 N. Lincoln (871-3000), through May 8.

A battle of wit ensues after members of the Moscow Art Theatre arrive for a visit at Chekhov's seaside Yalta villa in this contemporary comedy by Northwestern grads John Driver and Jeffrey Haddow. The cheeky playwrights mix love and war as romantic triangles, arguments about revolution and Chekhov's impending engagement unravel in the action.
