When Tyrone Guthrie opened America's first repertory theater in 1963, Twin Citians turned out in force to see what the Irish newcomer had to offer. Thirty-three seasons later, another Irishman awaits his first Guthrie audience. Tonight's opening of Anton Chekhov's "The Cherry Orchard" marks the inauguration of the Guthrie's new artistic director, Joe Dowling.
