Not that the jazz-slang sense of the word is particularly commendable in feminist terms, but one of the joys of slang is that it doesn't give a flying one about etiquette. I've been to a few country music nights with my Dad in the past. They were big in the depths of Yorkshire. I saw a good Don Williams tribute once. It was funny seeing all the blokes whooping etc with a Yorkshire accent - some, including my Dad, wearing a cowboy hat. (To keep the rain off presumably).

I love Alison Krause. It took me a while to warm up to her...I know she's supposed to have this beautiful, angelic voice, but the first time I heard her all I could think was that she sort of sounded like a chipmonk.
