Well, I'm a budding artist -- haha -- and I draw a lot. I'm thinking that some of the LitNet members (it could be you!) like to draw and would wish to post it here. :D

Here's mine:

Haha! very funny, Lainey.... And I always admire all Lain's sketches... I can't sketch myself... Because I always have a heavy hand, so I'm sticking to pastels and colored pencils.. :D

I'm tempted to post mine. I draw almost everyday, even if I have hardly any skill. But...

Man, if only I had a scanner. You guys wouldn't mind if I posted my drawings in primitive digital photos? And the pictures that I draw are in a small sketchbook...darn. Ooh! Ooh! Except for my near stick-firgure style historical comics! Plus maybe a few others...plus my drawings are boring. they're usually what I'm obesessing over the moment and you guys get enough of that. ^^'

Pinkmoon;

Just thought I'd drop a comment or two about your posted work. While the anime stuff is nice enough for what it is I think that your drawing from life (photograph?) is far stronger. This drawing is especially good:

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k255/Stlukesguild/61206943.jpg

It actually reminds me of some of the early linear work of Lucian Freud:

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k255/Stlukesguild/1947DrawingFromFlyda231.jpg

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k255/Stlukesguild/1948IllInParis262.jpg

Those are all so great, Toni and Reccura! Great job! That "Dying Africa" is really great. And "Technicolored Peace", too! I love how your works are literary-insprired, Toni. :D

Well, they're just in my sketchbook, and I color nothing in my sketchbook. Plus I was on the bus for a long time that day, so I really had nothing else to do. My drawings are nothing compared to your guys', though. Mine are just silly cartoons.

First I picked the best ones out of my sketchbook, and then I took pictures of those, and then some of the pictures didn't turn out good, so I'll re-take them later. I wasn't planning on dumping all of you with a bunch of pictures, anyway, because it's not very nice.

"Catrina: La Senora de Los Muertos"
http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa144/shesoutofsync/CatrinaLaSenoradeLosMuertos.jpg
Catrina is a common symbol for the holiday Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead). I did this drawing when I was researching Dia de Los muertos for Spanish class.

"Ponytail!Dr.F's Dreams"
http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa144/shesoutofsync/PonytailDrF.jpg
The top is really blurry, but it's just his little dream bubble of him on top of the world and he's saying "MWA HA HA HA! I'm the God, I"m the God!"

"Rain Doom!"
http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa144/shesoutofsync/RainDoom.jpg
Here's one of the pictures I made on the bus. I proud of this one because I've never actually drawn Zim succesfully without looking at a picture of him to reference from. I don't practive drawing him much, either. Hooray for my good memory.

"SEND 'EM THE MOVIE, FRANK!"
http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa144/shesoutofsync/SendEmtheMovieFrank.jpg
"I'm gonna cut ya, man, I'm gonna cut ya...I'M NOT GONNA SEND 'EM THE MOVIE!" Hee hee. This was my first time drawing TV's Frank. At the bottom it says, "Two seconds later Dr. F bashes Frank's head against the control panel. <3"

"Spud Boys"
http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa144/shesoutofsync/SpudBoys.jpg
This is just one of my better DEVO drawings. I referenced the picture from one of the pictures in the little booklet of my DEVO Greatest Hits CD. The picture is also on the cover of one of their albums. The words across the members say, "DUTY NOW FOR THE FUTURE".
The bottom says, "Geez, how many DEVO drawings am I going to make?". Heh heh. I've been drawing DEVO like crazy.

As you can see, I like to make commentary to my drawings...

Sorry that they're really fuzzy. :(

I drew three or four drawings today, plus I was thinking about posting my Noodle History comics and maybe some other older drawings of mine, but it's four minutes to midnight (I'm a night owl. :) ) and everyone else is asleep and the stupid beeping noise that the camera makes is too loud. So maybe sometimes tomorrow or in the not too distant future. Next Sunday, A.D. Maybe.

They are both the same image taken from a photo of a degraded high cross from St Mullins in Co. Carlow. The first one is a pencil sketch and the second is a water colour. hope you like them!

I'm in the process of learning to draw. It's such an amazing process, on so many levels. I haven't drawing in over a year but think about it often. Here's one of my final sketches from a class I had.

Clearly, some parts aren't finished.

These are some old drawings. The first one is actually copied from a book cover (How to Draw Portraits?) and the second one is sort of a self-portrait, though the mouth doesn't look like me at all.

when i was in secondary school(think 5th year) we went to The National Gallery of Ireland to sketch Icon. Our task was to select an Icon, draw it, that as a class project abstract it.
So i chose this one. Was the only one who did and used colour pencils to sketch it.
http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q268/niamhking/100_0143-1.jpg
and abstracted to look like this. (sorry never completed. was supposed to try cool colours on the other side. so technically this was the second last stage of the project.)

Those are ALL lovely drawings and sketches. I wish I could draw like that! My drawings hardly ever have "meaning" or anything like that.

Why don't you finish it, Niamh? Cool colors on the other side sound like a brilliant idea.

Annamariah and pinkmoon, those portraits are AMAZING. They do look real! Fantastic job!

Mine:

"DEVO Tribute" Self-explanitory.
http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa144/shesoutofsync/DEVOdrawing.jpg

"Ed Wood" He was a transvestite, so I drew him in his man clothes and then in his Angora sweater, etc. No, he was not a fruit.
http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa144/shesoutofsync/EdWood.jpg

"Business man Mutant" I thought of this today. I was relaxing in my room when I thought, "Business man+mutant=BUSINESS MAN MUTANT. I must draw that!" Complete with tentacles!
http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa144/shesoutofsync/Mutantman.jpg

"Trouble At Versailles" This is sort of an old one...a couple months...

thanks pensive and lily. it was about eight years ago when i did that. too late to finish now.

heres some more of mine. i did my art project of my junior cert on the abbey theatre so heres a couple of things from it.
this is a poster for the Playboy of the Western World which includes the original cast names and ticket prices.

This is my version of the cover of Murder at the Abbey Theatre by Hogan and Douglas. Mine is slightly different as i mimiced their characatures and create some of my own. Most of who i added had no association with the abbey, Wilde was dead before it was opened. but here it is any way!

Aw, thank you. I was so surprised when I made it. It's really hard for me to be creative. Or it was. I think maybe I'm getting better. My mind has just been so twisted lately and I've been so inspired.

I don't know! *whine* :bawling: I'm gunna show it to him tomorrow so that if he thinks it's too "off the wall" I can make a new one really quick tomorrow night because the project is due Tuesday. I really hope he likes it. Or just gives me an A for doing it. I was contemplating being a bit "milder" to save this uncertainty but the creativity was just screaming inside of me! I couldn't help it! :bawling:

I don't like him. And not just because of that. Humph.

Yes!!! :D I have always loved drawing and after contemplating on it a bit I have decided to give this thread a try. Here's one of my drawings: it's a plan for the cover page of My [C]s Romance, a collection of one-page comics.

I drew it for my school art project. Inspired by Pon and Zi, it features two emo characters, however this time it is about me... and perhaps you know who...;)

My [C]s Romance stands for My CompSci (Computer Science) Romance, and all stories are based on real-life events...

Hope you like it...

I'm working on a wall collage on the back of my bedroom door because I love decorating my room. I guess you could call it finished, but I think I can always add more until I run out of room on the back of the door. I titled it for now "Use your Freedom of Choice in this Beautiful World, it's a Good Thing!" (Obvious inspiration.) I cut out pictures and headlines from magazines and newspapers...I'll take a picture soon if you guys wanna see it.

Nice thread. We need a thread for collective art as there are seperate threads for difference types of art...hey, what about music? Upload your music here? Music you composed or otherwise?

All, save the last, of the paintings I did for my college art class. All of them are a compromise between my skill and ambition. I usually give up on the piece, like the last where I couldn't get the effect I wanted using only two primary colors, I have a lot of unfinished work. :bawling:

Sweets America: You seem a natural. How long have you been painting and drawing?

Pendragon: I enjoy your visual humor. What is most interesting is that your work seems to be very to-the-point at firts look, but the more one looks at it the more personal it seems. Although it being personal, comes as unintentional.

blackbird_9: The mirror image is very haunting. The lighting intrigues me. The cloaked woman is also interesting. The stairs turning in toward the women and ending, seems some what suggestive.

Thank you! :) I have been drawing since I've been a little girl, I have always loved drawing. I have been painting for a long time as well. I just love the peaceful feeling that I get when I paint. I think of nothing but my painting. It's very relaxing. When I was younger, my drawing teacher wanted me to pursue art studies, but everyone said that it would be too hard and with no chance to get a job after, so, I was too scared to do it and I gave up. :( Also, I was not sure it was what I wanted to do for a living. I am not sure if it is just a great hobby or something more.

Whew, Blackbird, you get some highly detailed work even in a pencil sketch.

Nick, mon ami, you red painting is very Cthulhu Mythos like to me.

Sweets, it's the eyes in your portrait that are alive, and give life to the picture which I find far from expressionless.

As for myself, I have descended into quick sketches that sometimes leave people wondering about myself. I have won in art shows in sculpture, unfortunately the sculpture, created in 1977 was broken to pieces during a move. I have a picture somewhere.

NickAdams, thanks! I always work with only one pencil, and then I use my fingers too, in order to make the shadows and such. I need to wash my hands a lot in the end. :p I am not sure that answers your question though, because I am not sure of what 'gauge' means in this context.

Sleepy, this is a nice comment. Who knows, maybe the fountain you saw was this one? I have thought again about the legend attached to it, and I think it was about 'healing' blindness.

Great drawing, Chava and everyone else! People here draw so well that it makes me ashamed of my doodle-work that I sometimes do during the lectures in school. :p

Sweets and Chava, those are simply amazing. They're so realistic.

And I love Pendragon's surreal work. :D I love surrealism.

Here's one I did today:

I got new DEVO, a new sketchbook, and a new artist's anatomy book, so that was bound to happen.

The first 2 were completed at the age of 11 (so excuse me if they're terrible).
The 3rd about... 2 years ago.

Here is another one of my cartoons. It was about when my ex-boyfriend had gone to Hawaii with his agency to teach in seminars. (Robertson is his name). I had fun making that one too. I hope you can read the bubbles. :D

Well no, actually for cartoons I start to draw everything by hand, and once it is done, I scan the image and add the colors with paint on the computer. So I don't draw it in paint directly. It would be way too difficult for me. :p
Glad you like it, Lily.

Chava, such detail, wow I love those hand drawings. :thumbs_up
Lily, loved your drawing, yes -- it really is 'so you'!
Sweets, your cartoons are excellent, the kind you see in magazines, wow!

Oh, gosh, you guys... I try. Thanks. I recently actually got a "style" over the summer and I'm quite pleased with it. I'm really glad I can draw. I love it. I do it so frequently now. Before it was like, "yeah, I can draw a little" and I didn't draw often but now I draw everyday pretty much.

Hey guys. Just happened to be around, saw this thread just after being somewhat active in the "Deviant Litnetters" thread, and remembered I just uploaded a new (not really new, just as old as the first drawing I posted) Cs Romance to my deviantart and might as well post it here (though I'm not so sure what you'd think). :p I like emo cartoons so much, I thought I might do one of them and so I made a draft for a whole collection, and that became My [C]s Romance (a set of drawings chronicling the sweet, fun, romantic escapades of two cute emo characters--one of them is, well, a representation of me ;) and only you guys know that!--in a colorfu, surreal computer science class--as I described it on deviant). :p Sorry for being so persistent and...

Oh well, so here it is. Artificial Flowers. I find it rather sentimental and though it has nothing to do directly with me, being full of symbolisms and emotion, it happens to be my special favorite among all the drawings I did for the draft collection.
http://tn3-2.deviantart.com/fs24/300W/i/2008/009/4/7/Artificial_Flowers_by_romantic_error.jpg
If you ever happened to notice the smudged letters in the sign that says "Artificial Flowers," that's because I was working on this in the kitchen near the sink, and my dad accidentally splashed some water on it. At first I wanted to repeat it, but when I saw the final product I thought that the smudge somehow added up to the emoity.
