that's pretty neat tailor. I get ducks here too and I might have mentioned this before, only once in all the years since ive been here have they ever had babies. I wonder if maybe they don't like to do that with a goose family around.

when I was a kid it would definitely have been miracle whip, but aging has grown mayonnaise on me. its more or less a toss-up but today, slight edge towards miracle whip.

I have come bottles of a ketchup/mayo combination that are pretty good on French fries.

hmm, another toughie---the major upside of sundaes are all the fixin's, but lots of times I like drinking things as opposed to eating, and so small lean towards the shake. my vegetarianism extends somewhat into dairy products so when I have choices between all those things, I go with slushes instead.

that's a fun one---I liked spring break, even though I loved college, for the sake of having a week off. traveling to warmer weather was a part of it, but childhood memories of Halloween are hard to beat. plus October is probably my favorite month of the year.

that's a fun one. a long time ago I used to donate blood regularly and after some weird general malady made its residence in my life, I never felt good about giving my blood anymore---even though the red cross folks told me I could designate my donation for research as opposed to transfusion. I like bowling, but on general principles you have to go with donating blood.

ive never been water skiing---I think id give it a shot if I ever had the opportunity.

I loved the super bowl and the world series when I was a kid, but at some point I started to fall away from watching baseball. Dining out. But not on Christmas. Christmas activities are almost over ( dancing with gym group; Christmas lunch with gym class). Christmas itself going to be quiet.

Spending it alone too, but no cat and no cider. Does your church celebrate Christmas?
I prefer stargazing, but that's difficult from rather small apartment windows. Watching clouds however has become mandatory because of the ever changing weather.

peaches or plums?

Christmas... absolutely; our Christmas program is this Sunday (I'm singing in the choir and facilitating an audio visual presentation :) )... we celebrate the Savior's birth on December 25th like other Christian faiths (our church's official name is: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints).

Tough, tough choice... for eating fresh: a large ripe black plum (but ask me another time and it might be a big juicy peach); for eating cooked it's a tie: Peach pie or Plum Duff ( https://greatbritishpuddings.com/sweet-puddings-recipes/plum-duff )... so plum :)

I love the upbeatness to mariahs song, but its hard to beat the oldies but goodies, "white Christmas" it is and bing Crosby has such a good voice. although the song has a strong hint of melancholia to it.

that's actually a toughie. snows beautiful but it comes with all the cold. rain can be nice and its necessary, but it makes everything wet and muddy. can I go with snow in the winter and rain in the summer! laughs...

danik I spend a lot of time explaining to people that I don't have WhatsApp, that I cannot get/use WhatsApp, and then ultimately not being able to get into conversation with them because they wont get one of the messenger programs that I can use.

that's a fun one tailor. id have to say the first one because the second one, although still very interesting, seems a bit too limited or maybe even deterministic. its fun though to consider which mover or book itd be though.

I ceased explaining, bounty. If one doesn´t have WhatsApp in my city one gets isolated. I don´t use it for talking but for receiving and sending messages, usually of a comercial kind.

I'll go with superstitious too. Never tried the I Ching before... will check it out. Came across an auld Scots Gaelic charm the other day on fb; "Caim: Sanctuary; an invisible circle of protection, drawn around the body with the hand, to remind one of being safe, and loved, even in the darkest times."... looking for anything to augment my prayers to have a wonderful 2025... I've been using I Ching for years and it's like counseling with a wise friend. It's surprising how it hits the mark. On has to get used to it's very poetic language and it's symbols though. I use it in book format but one has it on line too.My favorite translators are Richard Wilhelm and Legge. I didn't include the links because they conduct directly to download. There is also the practical version of John Blofeld. All of them you find in English. It’s four minutes to midnight now.
I wish you a happy 2025 with solution of old problems and opening of new horizons.

some of my favorite academic memories are from reading papers at our little in-house paper symposium. maybe technically that's not a "speech" but I would still write down what I wanted to say and work from a written document.

I love both. slight leans towards "give a speech." probably not so much because I like performance, but rather because the opportunity for impact and interaction is slightly greater.
