My nails are usually too short to break. If one does I just cut the rest of them.

Windows: open in/out like doors, or slide up and down?

verybaddmom
04-30-2004, 04:44 AM
Personally, i prefer the ones that crank open from the bottom out so they are on an angle when open, they are easier for me to clean, but i have the ones that slide from side to side right now.

killing spiders: yes or no?

emily655321
04-30-2004, 07:14 AM
no, never. Put 'em outside. I accidentally squelched a HUGE juicy one under a wooden box in the bathroom once, though, and got so upset I had to wake up my mother and have her clean it up. I can't stand the sight of bugs.

Umm... big marshmallows or the tiny ones?

boba or bubble tea?

IWilKikU
04-30-2004, 07:20 PM
I pass to someone who knows what either of those are.

Az, Yerp?!? :p :p. Thats great! Do you mind if I use that?

emily655321
04-30-2004, 08:08 PM
LOL Yeah, Kik, that's what I was waiting for too. Uhm... I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that the question is... tea bags V. loose tea? Am I horribly off the mark? Or does it mean hot tea V. iced tea? In the first case, I don't drink much tea, so I just go for whatever's around. And I prefer hot tea, unless the iced tea is the fake kind they sell in bottles... mmm... carcinogentastic.

Internet Explorer or Netscape?

<<<Note on my earlier question>>>

http://www.addis-welt.de/smilie/smilie/lachen/112.gif boba and bubble tea are the same thing, except for boba is original Chinese and bubble tea is its translation. What boba is?? How can you guys not know?? http://www.addis-welt.de/smilie/smilie/kampf/smileys26.gif It's not necessarily tea (it can be coffee/strawberry/etc) and it's rare because it's a drink you can chew. Let me attach a picture just in case you've seen in but just don't know it's that.

As for RH's question, I'm gonna keep it short because I'm very.. um.. opinionated on this issue. Oops, said too much already.... Adoption.

How do you spell it, personally: Bombay or Mumbai?

random_hero
05-01-2004, 07:30 PM
Bombay, cuz Im a white kid from a podunk town in the silicon valley
I really want to know: Mini Me or Knee High P.I.?
Mini Me is from Austin Powers, he is Dr. Evil's clone-gone-wrong.
Knee High P.I. is a Comedy Central original movie, and features a little person as a detective on the case of a man murdered for his lawn jockey. I think. Maybe I mixed it up with another movie. So you choose: WHICH MIDGET?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

emily655321
05-02-2004, 01:47 AM
I didn't watch the Comedy Central thing. Maybe I'm just too PC, but I'm really not into the whole Man-Show-esque representations of dwarves that have been proliferating recently. But I'd choose Verne Troyer ("Mini-Me") anyway, cause he's hi-larious. :D I demand more movie roles for Verne!

woodstove or fireplace?

random_hero
05-02-2004, 03:05 PM
Yeah, I agree with the man show lp things (LP being Little Person) But knee high P.I. wasnt one of those. It was a little more serious. Well, as serious as a movie about an LP detective can get.

oh, woodstove, reminds me of a shanty/cabin we have in downieville. look up downieville on google, its a cool ghost town-turned-mountainbiking town.

cooler?

nukes or medeival seige weapons

emily655321
05-03-2004, 03:51 AM
Medieval weapons. They were so much more creative and fun to look at. There's no craftsmenship to bombs, and no sport (I don't mean the "rah, rah" kind) in nuclear warfare. You have a beef with someone, get your mace and get your feet in the mud. (...George.)

The Rocky Horror Show -or- Priscilla, Queen of the Desert?

papayahed

Tuna Salad or Chicken Salad?

emily655321
05-03-2004, 09:01 AM
LOL I think Priscilla has better music and plot, but Rocky has better acting and costumes. I guess they're good for different moods. Or one big slumber party. :D :D

Tuna! I always choose fish when it's available over the feeted ones.

Graphic emoticons (:)) or the ones that go like : ) ??

contemporary apartment in the downtown core of the city, or white picket fence in the suburbs?

amuse
05-03-2004, 08:48 PM
both?
nah, after i get a degree from the city (and the university), will have spent a decade in philly; i want a white picket fence with a huge garden in the back, and i'll get to be a stepford wife! :D :D :D
(ok, so i haven't read the book since my teens, but would really like to work during the day, read during the day, laze around, volunteer, write, garden, hang out with my girlfriends, and spend at least 5 days a week just shopping, cooking, cleaning, laundering (and the rest ;) ;).)

read under a tree with a picnic lunch or use the public library or use an old comfy chair or read in bed?
*maybe since i asked 4 questions you can answer 2? - no this one doesn't count :p*

verybaddmom
05-03-2004, 09:01 PM
read anywhere i happen to be: on a noisy stinky bus, in the bar (i hold a pen in one hand and my book sits under the bar so it looks like im working....shhhhh), in the park under a tree, in bed at home (when my honey is at his home, in a town far far away), sitting in the backyard, with the kids frolicking on the trampoline, on a bench outside the college, squatting in the bookstore, behind the classics shelf, comfy chair in the bookstore/coffee shop...but it seems never the library, mostly because it has the worst selection of books (i have previously mentioned my ire with the librarian)

do you believe that people's behaviors change under the full moon?

simon
05-04-2004, 03:15 AM
Yes, I personally turn into a duck when under direct moonlight, this has been seen by witnesses, and though their reliability is questionable, I am inclined to believe them.

prepare lunch in advance or eat on the go? *hope wasn't asked already*

verybaddmom
05-04-2004, 04:01 AM
depends on the state of my organizational skills. usually the beginning of the week im doing pretty well, having used my weekend to catch up and get organized, but by thursday or so, im all out of sync again, and running thru the caf or subway to find sustenance to carry me to the weeked. my son, he always gets packed lunches though, funny how i have time to make sure he's looked after, but i neglect myself. hmmmm.....

ceramic, but only because it matches my very cool black dishes.

herculean coffee mug or wimpy coffee cup?

emily655321
05-05-2004, 01:15 AM
Well, mugs all seem pretty big to me. But not like one of those huge bowl things. I drink everything that isn't in my trustye water bottle out of one of two: a clear glass cafe mug (the kind with a lip and a base) and a big green one with a cat on it whose tail is the handle. And on one side it says "Purr." :D

Soilent green or people?

Go fishing or go to a Ball Game? (This afternoon)

emily655321
05-11-2004, 01:28 PM
Well, I don't like fishing the way I don't like hunting, but at a ball game you're surrounded by screaming drunk people on hot seats. At least fishing there's room for enjoying nature and contemplating life. If you feel like having fish for dinner, I'd say fishing.

pick up truck or SUV

emily655321
05-11-2004, 04:43 PM
Ew, I don't like cars either. The basic thing was, "would you rather have something of good quality or just have people THINK you do."

Misty Mountain Meadow Morning or Crystal Clear Cloudless Coast?

Shea
05-12-2004, 11:39 AM
I choose the "M's". There is a lot of pasture land near my house and some mornings when it's rather foggy, it's nice to look out and imagine the Misty Mountain Meadow (got to use imagination for those mountains). I've seen too many Crystal Clear Cloudless Coast's to really care about them anymore. (Though I do admit they're still pretty).

Alliteration or End Rhyme?

emily655321

Sunrise at my house, then straight to bed. Sunset at the ocean, then out to do stuff. :D

Fiction/art from memory -or- non-fiction/art from life?

imthefoolonthehill
05-14-2004, 01:54 AM
fiction.... its so much more real than life.

Bubble Gum or Minty Gum

verybaddmom
05-14-2004, 01:55 AM
neither...hot cinnamon gum (big red though, no asparthame)

sugar or sugar substitutes?

Fancy or not when it comes to coffee?

verybaddmom
05-14-2004, 02:04 AM
not. just cream and sugar. all that macchiato crap from starbucks can just stay there.

big corporate coffee shop or tiny corner coffee shop with art on the walls and coffee drips all over the floors?

emily655321
05-14-2004, 09:24 AM
tiny drippy corner shop. If I must go in with you, which I won't, because I hate the smell of coffee. :p

cold medicine: liquid or pills?

imthefoolonthehill
05-16-2004, 01:56 AM
liquid. Nyquil is the best.

Cough drops or hard candy?

sleep in or waken at dawn?

imthefoolonthehill
05-16-2004, 06:17 PM
depends on what the day has in store... if I'm outdoors, waking up at dawn is best. Hunting or hiking is best in the early morning.

gatorade or powerade?

emily655321
05-16-2004, 08:29 PM
Is there a difference? Both kind of sting my throat.

fudge-cicles or cream-cicles (the orange ones) ?

fudgy-wudgy yeah!

Is better to be loved or feared?
- Machiavelli

emily655321
05-19-2004, 02:45 PM
Depends what you want out of the deal. Um, like, hypothetically, if you want your country NOT to get bombed again.... LOVE. But respect is better than either.

for a conversation or whatever: do you like to approach someone first, or have them approach you?

verybaddmom
05-19-2004, 02:51 PM
i am the approacher, as a rule. i am the kind of person that can start a conversation with someone in the checkout line at the grocery store, or anywhere else really. i have a harder time in social situations that are really important, like going to a party where its important to make a good impression (i went to the party that a couple of the professor's from my uni threw, celebrating their wedding anniversary. i was petrified. i think because i was so flattered that they considered me, a mere student, worth inviting)

do people that talk to you in lines (at the bank, or doctor's office, or whatever) irritate you?

emily655321
05-19-2004, 03:36 PM
Depends what mood I'm in, and what they're talking about, and where we are, and whether I'm busy or thinking about something. But usually...yes. LoL.

at weddings: rice or confetti or bubbles?

verybaddmom
05-19-2004, 03:42 PM
i would rather have people throw money at my wedding. however, i will throw confetti at other peoples weddings, if i must throw something. its just going to get thrown out anyhow (often they use the pieces of paper left from punching holes in sheets of looseleaf and such), and it biodegrades

listener or talker?
(i just realized i posted that last question on the wrong thread...duh)

emily655321
05-19-2004, 03:52 PM
LoL That's okay -- I always have trouble thinking of a this-or-that, but then my other-thread questions all seem to end up this-or-that's anyway. BTW, WELCOME BACK VB!! yay!!

I'll talk if no one else is, to keep the conversation going. Or if I have a thought you can't shut me up. :D But if someone else is talking I'm much happier just to sit and listen.

Do you prefer reading or writing?

papayahed
05-19-2004, 04:53 PM
'rithmetic, but if I had to choose between the two listed I'd pick reading. I can't write worth a darn let alone getting my thoughts in print and having them resemble anything in my melon.

peanuts or popcorn?

verybaddmom
05-19-2004, 05:03 PM
popcorn, but only with a bit of sugar and salt and butter. not the healthiest snack out there.

camping: roughin' it with just a sleeping bag and a backpack of canned food with only a screwdriver to open it OR a camper or RV with a microwave, shower and sattelite dish?

kilted exile
05-19-2004, 05:36 PM
Roughing It (however without the canned food, a fishing rod and decent knife is all you need)

laptop or desktop?

verybaddmom
05-19-2004, 05:38 PM
i have a desktop, want a laptop. next on the list....

angels or fairies?

emily655321
05-19-2004, 05:58 PM
I commend you on not spelling it "faeries." Due to the irritating proliferation of fairies on teenage girls' teeshirts and notebooks and everything else you can silk screen, I'll say angels. Some of the early renaissance artists did some interesting stuff with them. Still two of my least favorite fantastical creatures, though. :p

speaking of which...
centaur or Minotaur?

amuse
05-19-2004, 06:58 PM
i still spell it "faeries"! (probably always have/will) :D oh no, that's awful. will i ever grow up? :D

centaur. guess because of the ol' birthday. and they're very pretty in "fantasia"!

holistic dr. or md? (had asked in wrong thread.)

emily655321
05-20-2004, 03:28 PM
MD. I think most of it comes down to how much faith the patient has in the effectiveness of the treatment, so I don't discount the placebic value (I can invent words if I want to :p) of holistic medicine. My own faith is in science, but neither does much good if you don't honestly believe them to work.

emily655321

Black Adder or Mr. Bean?

kilted exile
05-20-2004, 09:21 PM
Definetly Blackadder (Blackadder Goes Forth in particular)

Three Stooges or Marx Brothers

emily655321
05-20-2004, 11:46 PM
Marx Brothers, all the way. I always get such a sense of bitter self-loathing from Groucho, like the whole time he's talking he's thinking, "shoot me. Shoot me now." It makes him even more lovable, for some reason. But Harpo's the best :D -- when I was a kid, he became my musical idol and inspired my interest in playing piano and harp (the latter of which I still plan to learn someday).

Groucho, Harpo, or Chico? (Or, if you're a bizarre freak of nature, Zeppo? :p j/k)

imthefoolonthehill
05-29-2004, 01:46 AM
groucho. aids or cancer?

emily655321
05-29-2004, 02:23 AM
Ouch. Well, they thought my great uncle only had a couple of months to live, because the cancer had spread to his lungs and his heart I believe... then they did one more operation, and he seems to be in complete remission! All gone. All healthy. So...I'd stake my bets on cancer, I guess. Amazing things are possible.

Which do you usually enjoy best in songs: the refrain or the verses?

imthefoolonthehill

vegetarian or omnivore?

emily655321
06-03-2004, 06:40 PM
I've kind of become a veggie gradually, but I don't abstain as a rule. I'm just not crazy about meat. I do refuse to eat pork, though, because piggies are so smart :)...really, anything but fish and chicken and turkey, now and then a hamburger, but I don't like red meat very much.

In an internet cafe, which would you choose if you could have only one: internet, or coffee? (This is assuming you are away from home and don't have access to the internet.)

That was a pretty complicated question, but never mind...

mono
03-27-2005, 08:10 PM
Coffee. When in my favorite café, I often enjoy leisure writing, which I do the old-fashioned way: a glass pen and paper - no need for Internet.

Coffee or tea?

Suffocating or sudden cardiac arrest?

mono
03-27-2005, 09:26 PM
Suffocating cardiac arrest, as masochistic as that sounds, since a slowly progressive myocardial infarction would allow one to find help quicker.

Do you find yourself more perceiving or judging?

Miss Darcy
03-27-2005, 09:29 PM
I only just realised I made two posts in a row back there...I have no idea what happened, I thought one of them was in "Ask the person below you..." but never mind.

I *hope* I'm more perceiving than judging. After all, it would take a fair deal of judgement to figure that out. ;)
