I lived and worked in Germany for a year, and found that the stereotypes were not wholly accurate - I met some very decent people (although the sense of humour thing does have a ring of truth in some cases! Or maybe I just didn't get it.). I enjoyed my time there. Only been to France for two weeks holiday - I did love it; especially the good quality food. We were on a budget, so didn't eat out that much, but the ingredients at the markets was fantastic.
