4 (1974), 326-336.

Allen, after exploring the rich traditions of doors and
porters, concludes that the Porter of II.iii is Macbeth's evil genius, and
that the priapic lecher of the Porter's second speech is full of meaning for
Macbeth. Allen is endeavoring to extend Harcourt's reading (see below).
