Biography of Shakespeare:

The earliest documented fact about William Shakespeare is to be found in
the town register for births, deaths, and marriages - the Parish Register of
the church of Stratford-on-Avon - which lists the date of Shakespeare's
christening as April 26, 1564. This, of course, is not the date of his birth,
but scholars have generally considered Shakespeare's birthday to have been
three days earlier, because it was customary to have children christened ...
