Introductory note on references.

In Shakespearean criticism, an act is identified by a Roman capital
numeral for example, I. A scene is identified by a Roman lowercase numeral:
e.g., iii. Lines are identified with Arabic numbers: e.g., 10-25. Thus,
I.iii. 10-25 means Act I, Scene iii, lines 10-25.

When lines are discussed with act and scene understood, the word line
is abbreviated "l. and lines "ll:" e.g., l. 10, ll. 10-25.
