A Midsummer Night's Dream: Act 5

Actd5: Scene 1

In this scene we are back in Theseus' palace again. Theseus, Hippolyta,
Philostrate, Lords, and Attendants enter. Hippolyta remarks that what the
lovers have spoken of is strange. Theseus answers in a famous speech about the
lover, the madman and the poet. He says the lovers' story is "more strange
than true," and he for one never believes old stories and fairy tales. Lovers
and madmen have "seething brains" that grasp more ...
