The Merry Wives Of Windsor
The Play:
The Merry Wives of Windsor, an offshoot from the historical play, Henry
IV, has an interesting legend. In the eighteenth century, it was said that the
play had been written hurriedly in fourteen days because Queen Elizabeth had
expressed a desire to see Falstaff in love. Today, we are inclined to doubt
the truth of this statement, but we do accept the suggestion that the play was
