As You Like It: Act 2

Act 2: Scene 1

The scene shifts to the Forest of Arden, where for the first time we meet
the banished Duke, or Duke Senior, as he is called. The Duke is extolling the
advantages of life in the forest, free from the perils of "the envious Court."
He implies that in fact his banishment has been a blessing - "Sweet are the
uses of adversity."
