Summary.
When Augustine had taught as a professor of rhetoric in Milan for a short
while, his mother Monica followed him to the city. Travelling by land and
sea, she felt perfectly secure under the protection of God. In fact, when
storms threatened the ship she comforted and reassured the sailors while
other passengers, in panic, solicited advise from the selfsame sailors.
